[4/30] Code of Conduct Discussion

Posted 7 years, 11 days ago (Edited 6 years, 9 months ago) by admin

[4/30] We have updated the Code of Conduct to reflect the new rules as discussed on this thread.

We'll be leaving this thread up to take further suggestions and feedback on the rules in the future, as well as for keeping track of our history of changes to the COC, so please let us know either via this thread, or via the ticket desk or PM if you have any thoughts or concerns.

[4/30] Major changes:

  • We will now be enforcing behavioural conduct rules: this includes locking and deleting threads or characters which are overly hostile or aggressive.
  • NSFW artwork containing characters which are described as under 18 or described as appearing under 18 (or the equivalent age of adulthood in non-human species) are now prohibited. Note that this includes gratuitous violence towards minors which is presented as sexual or fetishised.
  • NSFW now has been separated into different content filter categories - please read up and let us know if you have any suggestions for further categorisation.
  • We may add content warnings to characters or forum posts that contain sensitive or offensive content, please don't remove these unless you also revise the content.
  • Accounts which contain nothing but, or a large ratio of parody or satire characters will have their Listing privileges revoked. Hateful or insulting satire is now strictly prohibited.
  • Public blacklisting is now explicitly allowed, albeit with restrictions on tone.
  • Report trolling/baiting is now disallowed.
  • Some information was added on how to properly report a scam - unfortunately a large quantity of tickets we can't do anything with currently because we lack sufficient evidence to take action.

Users will not incur retroactive warnings or account sanctions for any changes made to the Code of Conduct, but we will be going through and removing any old content that violates the new rules.

if butts go free i think all nips should go free as well... like the argument "there's a stigma, i can't have this on my screen what if my boss or family sees it!!" i'm p sure your boss would not wanna see a naked ass on your screen anymore than a lady's nips. both have "stigma" to it and are considered inappropriate.

personally i'm a fan of free the nips & the butts like... they aren't that offensive. while younger ppl may be on this site i dont think the main audience is 12 year olds. if a reference picture of a woman simply standing there, existing with nipples is upsetting to you then well... that is a problem with you and the way you view women. ppl have some responsibility to control the content they consume. like obvs if they are being displayed in a sexual mannered they should be marked for sexual content, but if it's just a person in a ref or something like a mermaid swimming freely through the sea... there's nothing explicit about that.

allowing all of this to just be viewable would also eliminate the whole linking offsite thing

like i get you can't please everyone, in the end whatever is decided, there would be an unhappy party. i think it's best to go with the solution that is also kind of practical as well? so that it's not too complicated to implement or enforce.

the mild nudity filter can stay for those who WANT to use it, but maybe just make it a suggestion for sensitivity to your followers and not a requirement. if ppl have followers that ask them to tag for nips, the artists has the choice to do so; but if their followers dont care and the artist don't care, they don't have to

@hane Any content added by an admin will be clearly marked as such! The notifications page should now also be fixed to hide NSFW content - let me know if the issue's still persisting for you.

Nahri Bumping's fine! We'll be looking into adding a bump button in the site recode which should reduce the need to spam thread up, though.

Wanted to let you guys know that we are watching the discussions and deliberating over the nips and mild nudity in general, as well as what qualifies as mild nudity and the extent to which we're going to moderating the tag - so if you do have any thoughts or reservations please do participate in discussions (or file a ticket if you'd prefer to make a private comment) to make sure your voice is heard. We really appreciate all the feedback so far!

We don't want to sexualise nudity, which is the entire reason that the Nudity tag was separated out from Sexual Content. We do want to provide options for people who don't want to see nudity at all, but we also want to make the process easy & stress-free for people who just want to upload nips in peace, without anyone feeling like their content's being restricted. We'll be thinking about account-wide or character-wide content tagging, but as of yet we're still unsure about the best way to design the system from a UI perspective - maybe just an automatic content warning label at the top of the user or character's page...?

Mild Nudity will always be visible to logged out users.

In regards to a bumping button, can we disable double posting strictly in the forums? Like if you were the last person to post on a thread, you can't post again period until someone else posts? I'm actually not sure exactly how much this might hinder other people (I haven't thought about it much tbh) but it might also discourage excessive bumping if we actually have to rely on a bump button that refreshes on certain intervals (30 mins to 1hr?) instead of manually typing it.

The new rules seem fair, I don't get why we have to cover up guy nipples too but whatever, a tag isn't much an issue for people who don't wanna see it.

My only thing is avatars with the "content that the user does not have permission to use", are we allowed to use free/public source/stock images for them or no?

admin thanks and yes the images work now!

Sort of on the topic of the new filters, when using the image manager to adjust filters and such, since that new box is right under the box for image privacy and whatnot, the filter box goes right off the bottom of my screen so I have to zoom out the page just to reach the update button. Same problem happens with editing tags through the image manager when there are too many tags selected, but that's the sorta-off-topic part. I dunno if this is something that can be fixed by just changing how the boxes behave (because I do like that they scroll down with the page, just... not when you can't scroll to reach the bottom because it doesn't fit) or if I just have to deal with zooming out/in every time I want to hit the update button.

I suppose it's not a huge deal, but it's something to consider I think, because it's a touch inconvenient if you don't have a huge screen to work with that fits everything to begin with. ^^; I don't think I ever brought it up because it only sometimes happened when editing tags, but this is always going to be an issue with the new filter box being always offscreen without adjusting for it. I wouldn't mind if both boxes were just smaller in general so they both fit on the screen, but I wouldn't want to flip the problem into "the boxes are too small to see now."

I had that same issue as above. It looks like this on small screens:

As someone who simply thinks nipples are cute and enjoys putting them on my adopts... I am super against this new filter rule.  I also hardly have the time to go through every character and update filters.  If this rule is strictly enforced I will likely just end up leaving TH, since as others have pointed out no other site bothers with restricting male or genderless nipples.  Why bother wasting that time here when I can just move shop elsewhere that doesn't have such a silly restriction.

If you MUST have a nipple rule, I think it should only apply to images that are sexual or sexually suggestive in nature.

Edit: Plus, I don't like what this implies about /non-sexual/ art of under 18 characters that happen to have exposed chests.  Nipples on their own aren't sexual, they're just there.  Having to tag that as nsfw feels wrong, and makes it seem like it automatically goes against your nsfw of underage rule. Would this mean even exposed nipples in unsexualized art on males under 18 is now against site rules?

To be clear regardless of the outcome of the new rules - with the exception of Explicit Nudity & Explicit Sexual Content (which I think is reasonable to ask users to take the time to tag appropriately), the mild/gore tags will not be strictly policed and in general will be left up to users to tag according to their preferences. If we receive reports on your content we'll take care of tagging everything for you and notify you to let you know stuff's been edited just so you don't get surprised by the tags later, but you'll never receive warnings or bans for it, and your characters and artwork'll never be taken down unless it's breaking some other site rule.

Right now what we're considering is whether we want to force users to remove icons containing nipples - the only reason this is necessary at all is because characters don't have an option to have their thumbnail filtered. If we add account or character wide filters that would solve the issue, and would also give users the option to flag their entire account so they don't have to bother with flagging every individual character and image - I hope that's a solution that everyone would be satisfied with?

Pinky

i think a blanket tag would be a happy medium !

Krawark

Yes please, I'm definitely down to an account-wide flag.
