Chapter 14

The school week was finally finished. There was a three day weekend, so the guild decided to spend time together.

“So… what’re we going to do?” Vale asked as they all gathered in his room. “There’s literally nothing to do here, and we’re only allowed one passenger when driving.”

The group was silent for a moment as they began to think.

“Oh, that festival! Ezzy can drive me, and Vale and Ciaran can drive their own cars or go together.. That’ll get around the problem of only one person allowed in the car, since I’m a sibling!”

“I kinda didn’t want to go out today,” Vale muttered, “My stomach is killing me.”

“It’ll be fine!” Ezzy declared, standing up. “C’mon Serrina.” The other two girls got up and followed her. “See you there,”

“I’ll drive. You don’t look too good,” Ciaran observed as Vale got off his bed.

“Ugh,” he groaned, running his fingers through his blue hair. “Let’s go. If I die, tell my family I love them.”

“Will do,” Ciaran chuckled, following Vale. The two walked out of vale’s house after saying goodbye, and made their way to Ciaran’s car.

After buying their all day bracelets., it was time to start riding rides. The first was the Avalanche, which was on an arm and swung around in a circle. It was a very thrilling ride to most.

It was thrilling to all except Vale.

As the ride ended, Vale looked like he had seen a ghost. “Are you okay?” Ciaran asked and Vale nodded.

“I’ll live,” he muttered. “It’s probably because I didn’t eat this morning. I’ll eat at 12,”

“It’s 11, Vale. You sure you can live for another hour of rides?” Ciaran wrapped an arm around Vale, who nodded.

Well, he was almost sure Vale would be fine until 12, until they went on the Tilt-A-Whirl. Vale someone managed to get worse with every ride, and after the Tilt-A-Whirl, he threw up. It was luckily into a trash can, which was the one plus to this situation.

“I was wrong,” Ezzy frowned, “You okay, V?”

Vale sent a glare her way as his dry-heaving slowed.

“Okay, I’m going to take him to get food. You guys should stay.” Ciaran spoke to the girls. Then he turned to Vale and wrapped an arm around him, leading him back to the car.. “C’mon.”

“I wonder where he got sick?” Alicia thought out loud. "He doesn't really get sick, y'know. When was the last time he got sick?"

“The last time he was actually vomiting sick was two years ago during the biology dissection unit, and before that was in our 3rd grade.” Ezzy sighed, “He looks awful, and I feel bad just having fun without him.”

“I’m sure he’s okay with it. Ciaran’s probably got it under control.” Alicia smiled at Ezzy, who nodded. The blonde then frowned.

“What does Ciaran know about Vale anyways? If anything I feel like I should be taking care of him since he’s my best friend.” Ezzy sighed as she made her way to a bench and sat down. “Vale was pretending he didn’t like him,  but now they’re pretty close.”

“Well, Ciaran’s very popular. He probably won Vale over with his irresistible charm!” Alicia grinned as she stuck a silly pose. “Maybe he feels bad that Vale’s spent most of his life with his only friends being girls and wants them to do guy things together. Maybe they just sort of… I don’t know, clicked together and started to understand each other.”

“I mean, I guess. Ciaran is more observant and in tune with others' feelings, while I can understand a problem and the battlefield easily.” Ezzy looked up at Alicia. “Vale tends to keep things to himself. If he does say something, it’ll be quietly. Ciaran might be able to sense stuff that Vale hasn’t told us yet.”

“Yeah, I guess!” Alicia sighed as she looked at her phone. There was a text from Ciaran. “Ciaran says to meet up with them at Culver’s when we’re done. Now, Let’s go on the Ferris Wheel!”

“Right!’ Ezzy grabbed her sister’s hand as they ran to the Ferris wheel.

Ciaran had bought himself and Vale lunch. “Eat slowly,” he commanded, “I’m going to go grab some more water, okay?” Vale nodded, handing his cup to Ciaran as he took a small bite of his burger.

As he was filling up the cup, he heard someone call out.

“You!”

He turned around to see a brunette girl walking towards him. Her hair was dyed into a green gradient, and she had three braids. She wore a shoulder less white top and jeans, as well as grey sneakers. Ciaran recognized her, she was the person who played the electric bass in the school band. She also was in his English, American History, and Algebra classes. Not only that, she was an Amphite.

For the life of him, he couldn’t remember her name.

“Do you remember, Ciaran?” she asked getting close to him, and touching his arm. “Do you?”

“Uh, you’re in some of my classes?” Ciaran turned back to the water cup. “Look, I’m getting my friend water right now so-”

‘You never got me water when I was thirsty,” she said, before clinging onto him. Her green eyes gazed into his red ones. Ciaran’s narrowed his eyes as he put the lid on the water cup and tried to get out of her grasp.

“I never knew you were thirsty?” He struggled against her grasp as he carried to the cup to his table. “Let go of me.”

“You never complained back then!” This only made her hold onto him tighter.

“I don’t know you! What are you talking about?” He shouted, using his free hand to pry her arms off of him. “Seriously, you’re making a scene in public! I’m trying to deal with my sick friend, and you keep clinging onto me, claiming I actually know you, when all I know about you is that you’re in some of my classes!”

“You.. you don’t actually remember me?” Her eyes widened. “You… you are Ciaran Delmorse, right?”

“You may know my name, but that doesn’t mean you know me!” Ciaran huffed, before giving the water to Vale. “Sorry,”

“It’s fine,” Vale looked up from his phone. His complexion seemed to be normal now, but he still looked worn out.

“You big jerk! I wait for nearly ten years, and you forgot me? You left me all alone! I hate you!” the girl began to cry and ran off sobbing.

“What happened to her?” Ezzy and the others walked up to the table a little bit after the girl had ran.

“She kept insisting I knew her before I started school here. I recognize her from when we all became Amphites, and a couple classes, but I don’t even know her name. She was hugging me and clinging to me. It was super weird,” Ciaran sighed. “I got irritated so I blew up on her, but I feel kind of bad about it.”

“Thyme Linden.” Vale added, as he grabbed his burger again. “That’s her name.”

“Thyme Linden…. Wait,” Ciaran gasped, “I remember her. She was my childhood friend, before I started moving.”

“So you did know her?” Alicia asked, tilting her head,

“Yes, I do,” Ciaran frowned. “I left her all alone, but due to all the fun I was having seeing new places, I forgot about what I left behind. I’ll apologize to her at school. I have to.”
