Chapter 9

“One minute left,” Ezzy huffed, tapping her foot. Suddenly, their Amphones began beeping, signifying it was time to go.

“Let’s do this!” Alicia cheered as they all pressed the middle buttons of their Amphones, and were teleported to Tuphere once again.

“Hello there.” A young lady spoke gently to them, as she and another woman walked up to them. “My name is Violet, an earth element, and this is Lucia, a light element. We were a member of the guild Pure-Hearted Retribution before our leader defected to the Nether Brigade and we were disbanded. We’re going to be helping you out on your first mission.”

“That’s right!” Lucia smiled. “These wolves are scaring those who don’t have the power, even if they aren’t that strong. That’s why we’ve left it up to newer Amphites to secure their training. So, why don’t you transform, and we’ll follow you, and intervene if you need us.”

“Okay,’ Vale said, grabbing the Amphone, as did his Guild members.

‘Amphone, transform!”

Vale took in his teammates outfits. Ezzy had armor with lightning bolts on it, Alicia wore a long dress with a fire pattern on it, and red flats, and Ciaran wore a long black jacket with a red shirt, red sneakers, and black jeans.

“You got armor! That’s cool!” Alicia exclaimed, looking at Ezzy, with astonishment in her eyes.

“Well, it’s not exactly that special considering I’m actually a ranged attacker,” Ezzy shrugged as she summoned her weapon, a sniper rifle. The others followed. Ciaran had a sword and Alicia had a dagger.

“Okay, the pack lives in this cave.” Violet began to walk towards the opening. Lucia summoned her lance, just in case they needed assistance. “Be careful.”

“Alright,” Vale said, as he entered the cave, and was suddenly surrounded by five wolf…. things.

“Snowstorm!” Vale called, freezing a couple of them. Ciaran lunged and sliced with his sword. The closer one bit his arm.

“Ow, show some respect to the person who gets to decide when you die!” Ciaran grumbled. “Lunar Shower!” Rocks began to pelt the wolf from Ciaran’s hands, and Alicia took the time to stab it with her dagger, while Ezzy sniped the other one.

Vale spun the blade of his scythe, hitting the necks of all three wolves. Alicia used one of her spells, setting them ablaze and ensuring they wouldn’t be bothering the people of Tuphere anymore.

“Good job!” Violet smiled. “Since we’re in charge of your mission right now, we can mark off the fact that it’s finished. If you don’t have anyone monitoring your mission, you’ll go to the person who assigned it. In this case, it would be Elwin.”

Lucia pressed a button on her Amphone, and a high pitched chirping noise came from the guild member’s Amphone.

“You’re reward is 10 dollars each! Doing missions can give you rare materials to sell or use for crafting, or just helpful or cool objects, but it can also give you money that works both here and in our world! Having a career alongside being an Amphite can maximize your salary! I’ve bought so many books with my pay, I’m in heaven.” Lucia hummed, before returning to her more formal demeanor. “Ah, you also receive mission points, which can be redeemed for services and helpful things. This mission is worth 5. And your final reward is power crystals, which can strengthen your weapons and help you build skills faster.”

“Are you SURE this isn’t some sort of real life video game?” Vale muttered, and Ezzy snickered.

“Well, yes! I mean, if you pinch yourself, you can feel yourself, and you can transform in the other world!” Violet exclaimed, before giggling. “It was really confusing when we first became amphites, but it starts to make more sense after you’ve done it for a long time. Anyways, you’re free to head home. The crystals and cash are stored in your Amphone, and you can press a button on the screen when you need to access them.”

"So..." Vale looked at the other three. "Should we... explore a bit more? Goof around?"

"I don't see why not!" Ezzy grinned. "C'mon, let's go."
