✦ Colton [City]

Colton City

Colton is the counterpart city to Sinclair, which lies a couple hours northeast of it. It is mostly a harsh, dirty urban city that is ever growing, with its titular Windsor-Colton Academy lying just outside of it. It lies between a blissful beachfront and damp, unsafe marshes, but is known for its gorgeous sunset views.

The Shore

Locations close to the beach, characterized by beautiful views and expensive taste.

The Shore Strip

Now Colton is not located directly on the beach, but rather a few miles inward, built on the unsteady ground between very soft marshland and sands. All of the land that is inbetween Colton and the water is simply called the Shore, and is truly a marvel. The Shore is a hotspot for tourism, thanks to the asistance of businesses capitalizing on the untapped land. Although, there are city limits to how far out construction can be done, leaving miles of untapped coastline for all to enjoy.

Sunset Cove

The Sunset Cove is one of the very few magical hotspots in Colton, located on the Shore about an hour further southwest of the city. It is a number of large rocks placed in a large circle, close to the shoreline. It's not a very powerful hotspot, but a beautiful one nonetheless. Once one steps inside the ring, the sky turns a vivid purple and pink, like an everlasting sunset no matter the time of day. Time outside of it feels frozen; at least animals appear to be, but other people and the waves do not. It is a beautiful spot for loving couples but be careful, the rocks are sharp, and it is very easy to lose track of time.

Escape Away Beach Houses

About as far out onto the sands as permits allow, a series of rental AirB&B Beach Houses are located across the edge of Colton. They luckily have a healthy distance from the city proper, allowing for a beautiful semi-isolated getaway in modern chic houses with large glass walls facing the ocean. However, even for rental these spaces tend to be extremely expensive, more so the closer to the ocean that they get.

Diamond Dust Mall

Between the beach houses and resorts and the city edge is the Diamond Dust Mall, a favorite of Colton's youth. A massive multi-story building, right on the sands, with an assortment of businesses and kiosks within fit for any price range! Within, the mall is almost unnervingly ivory white and kept magically pristine. Chandeliers and glass railings give the interior a bougie vibe that is very popular amongst its guests.

Diamond Dust Resort

Not far from the mall of the same name is the Diamond Dust Resort, located on fine, powdery white sand and decorated by waving palm trees. A less isolated but not less expensive alternative to the Escape Away beach houses, but the Resort comes with all of the finest foods, drinks, and staffed service that a vacation resort could ask for. The Diamond Dust Resort is much like a hotel, located in a villa of sprawling buildings rather than a couple of very tall buildings, meaning that availability is usually very limited.

Starshore Talent Agency

As you enter the city from the coastline, one of the most prominent buildings is the fabulous Starshore talent agency. Their name is renown for their newly discovered talent, and individuals from all over Aphmer and even other continents will come to Starshore for a chance to be their new rising star. The talent agency is where it all began, right here in Colton. Talent scouts will seek out musicians, models, and actors and network them with other companies, or recruit them for themselves into Starshore's greater enterprise.

Whitepoint Gated Community

The rich of the rich, Whitepoint is an extremely privliged yet beautiful community. It is no small sum to live within the gated walls, located on rolling hills and some homes even having uninterupted views of the water - those are the more expensive ones. Many of Colton's most important individuals live within Whitepoint, including the Governor of Colton. The houses are very large, the size of mansions, but perhaps the only downside of these homes is that they are closer together than is typical for houses of these sizes.

The Orchada Estate

Now, the Orchada Estate is within Whitepoint Gated Community, but it is by far the most lavish home. It also has the joy of having far more room than its neighbors, enough to fill a small golf course! And who owns such a beautiful estate? The Orchada family are very powerful and distinguished attorneys. Aloysius Orchada has known to represent many powerful politicians, including multiple Governors; his wife, Vanda Orchada is an immensely high profile defense attorney, sourced out from multiple city-states within Aphmer; and his brother, Maximus Orchada, is an attorney that has represented many high profile companies in class action dispuites. The Orchada Estate is much like an unofficial elite gathering spot, as often many of Colton's finest and wealthiest are invited to partake in gatherings hosted by the renown Orchadas.

Whitepoint Private Academy

Funded by the associates of Whitepoint Community, anyone who lives within the community most definitely goes to or likely has gone to Whitepoint Private Academy. The academy is fresh and modern, much like the houses of Whitepoint, with creeping ivy climbing up its exterior. Students of this academy are expected to wear uniforms, stay within the Academy's on-campus Dorms during the school year, and behave with the utmost of manners, but given who the parents of these children are their behavior is rarely kept in line. It is not so subtly known that the students of Whitepoint Academy are priviliged, spoiled, and nightmarishly rude, perhaps to a point that attending the Academy is seen as if their parents are desperately trying to send them away.

Sunset Smoked Steakhouse

A very fine dining establishment located on the west side of the city. Its clientelle is powerful, important, and wealthy, and the meals offered are of the taste to server such clients. The Sunset Smoked Steakhouse is a multi-level establishment, offering more private seating and even a rooftop view of the sunset, for a higher price of course. It is a freqeunt meeting place of highly valued businessmen, and its staff is known for being discreet.

Colton's Sunset Bridge

This is the passing point into Colton city from the north: a beautful towering bridge that stretches over a wide river. The bridge has a stunning view of the sunset regardless which direction you go, and its stunning sillhouette and gateway into the Sunset City has earned it the moniker of Colton's Sunset Bridge.

M-porium Ink

Located on Main Street, it'd be remiss not to mention one of the best Tattoo parlors in town. And not just tattoos! M-porium Ink does piercings as well, and serves as a hybrid little clothing store for the punk, goth, emo, and grunge flavors of youth. The owner, Morticia Davis, is so comfortable and friendly to anyone who comes in, and as long as you facilitate business in some way and you aren't loitering, she dosdnt mind folks hanging out for a bit. But despite the boom of business being open after dark can bring, Morticia has a hard rule against tattooing someone inebriated, having almost a sixth sense for someone who's drunk or high. So M-porium Ink is more of a day-time or late evening spot. Morticia is also known to help Colton city youth groups and put a lot back into her community.

Blue Dawn Records & Games

Just across the street from M-porium Ink is Blue Dawn Records, just a cozy little music and game store! In the front, they sell vintage record sleeves as well as dealing in new and current music as well for those who like to have a tangible copy of their music. Going past an arch way into the back opens up an almost whole new store in the gaming club. There they sell a lot of nerd culture items: figurines, comics, board games, video games, dice. There are nights throughout the week where they host gaming nights or D&D group nights! Just pop in, play a game, and make some friends!

Layton Movie Theater

About a block or so from the night life section of Main Street is Layton Movie Theater! It's old-styled and vintage, located on the corner of a busy street just across the way that has surprisingly managed to keep doors open and the theater thriving due to the huge waves of drunk 20 year olds that will manage to make their way to it at the end of a night of partying. But you don't need to be drunk to enjoy the scene! On most weekdays and earlier in the night on weekends it is less rowdy, and those times are often prime times for a date night at this little cornerstone of memories and magic~

Huxington Hike Pass

Windsor-Colton Academy is located at the top of a hilly forested section on the outskirts of Colton, and it's a pretty decently long drive to get there, but the view from atop the hills is impeccable. Were it not for the gated exterior of the school blocking off some of that view. Huxington Hike Pass is a hiking trail that starts about midway up the street that leads to the academy, diverting to the right and leading to a small camping grounds and even further along a hiking path designated through the forest. In terms of a nature's getaway, it's a pretty recluse and respectable spot! Due to its proximity to the academy, dorming WCA students enjoy a trip down there over the weekends or after school. While WCA's walls block off prime parts of its view, there are absolutely beathtaking views of the city from this short hiking pass.

Verillian Park

In the heart of the concrete and brick layden Downtown is a little haven of nature in the Verillian Park. It is not a big park, but it is truly a breath of fresh air from the hustle and bustle. Within the park are the Botanical Gardens, a large glass building that within holds vibrant, beautiful plants that need more particular care to thrive and dozens of little butterflies. During the day, the park has the Gardens as well as being a hosting place for many youth group activities or community service fundraising events. The Park is lined up and decorated with hidden lights that illuminate after dark that makes the whole place feel enchanting. Additionally, the nearby streets just outside of the park are all populated by different types of resturants, meaning there's always some place to eat at only minutes away.

The Sewers

The sadly run down part of town, mostly abandoned by civic help due to high crime rates.

Ablefield Residential

Ablefield is actually a rather decent place to live, or it used to be. In recent years, crime has touched this residential area making it more dangerous to live there. Additionally, it's caused more damage to the properties and homes. But folks still manage to make do, not giving up hope yet. Ablefield is a very large suburban area in Colton, even if the homes themselves are more on the smaller side. In an expensive city like Colton though, folks just have to make do, and Ablefield at least used to be a relied residential area for the middle-class.

Sunsetside Apartments

These crappy, rundown ghetto apartments are where many people call home. And unfortunately, they do so because it is hard to afford many places better. The Sunsetside Apartments are known for being cheap, discrete, and horribly structurally maintained, as the management seems to care very little about the buildings or the individuals who live there. For some folks though, it is only a stepping stone. A life raft in a drowning sea as they hold on for a better shore.
