✦ The Valley [Town]

The Valley

The Valley is a little village up in the mountain range off to the northwest of Vin Cerina. It's not a well known location but there are rumors of intense magic hotspots that exist within the region they have settled. The Valley has an eerily friendly community and beautiful landscape.

Town Square

The Town Square is where the majority of the town and its activities occur! This is a quaint little area, with very friendly neighbors.

The Mayor's Home

The Mayor's Home is a very crowded place. having a lot of papers and books strung about. Their home is very vintage in appearance and rudimentary at best for what all it entails. Having a nice loft bedroom, a quaint little kitchen and a messy living room & dining area.  This is the home in which the Mayor keeps all the personal records, files and any tax & financial information they may need from the villagers of the Valley. As they handle the taxes and all for the government.
The mayor's home is also where the villagers will go if there is something that needs to be sorted out! The mayor after all is their guiding light.

The SchoolHouse

This is the only source of education within the Village. it is taught by an very educated member of their society and this teacher will teach the next set of teachers to take over the school once they retire. This school teaches from 1st grade all the way up to the 12th grade. Its not a very big Schoolhouse either, but then again the village isn't very big either.
Children of the village will learn practical life skills at the schoolhouse as well as the general studies. These studies being equivalent to most other areas freshman year of highschool for the highest level of education they receive here. It makes obedient children if they don't know more than they are told. This is why most if not all technology doesn't work out in the valley.

The Holy One's Church

This quaint little stone building is probably the oldest thing within the Valley and the most beloved. Outside the building is a shrine & statue of the 'Holy One' a completely white figure pictured with a halo of 4 pointed stars & long hair to the waist. Her alter contains various homemade candles, flower bouquets, homemade goods, along with various trinkets and items children have left. This is the chapel in which all ceremonies occur, from graduations to weddings, ascensions and the daily sermons.
Everyone within this town is religious & often times the older members of society will get a four pointed star tattooed onto their arm as a right of adulthood in the Valley. They take their religion very seriously & frequently listen to at least 3 scripture passages throughout the day. Once in the Morning, Once in the Afternoon and Once again in the Evening.

Fresh Cuts Butcher Shop

The Local Butchers shop on the town square! They often working out deals with the local farm for their livestock. This butcher is very skilled in their craft and can carve full grown cows in a short amount of time due to their strength & cordination of their hands. Its not unnatural, this person has been carving up bodies for a very long time now
The Meat shop is very friendly, there's cured, cooked and even raw meats of varied types for the townsfolk to stop by in to grab whatever it may be they need for tonight's supper or tomorrows lunches. This is one of the shops that gets one of the most business during the weeks on Saturdays when mothers and fathers are out gathering ingredients for that weeks course of meals.

Sweet Bloom Flower Shop

The Sweet Bloom Shop specializes in flowers for the various festivals and events the townsfolk put on to celebrate recent birth days, accensions or general festivals for christmas, the new year, and so forth! This shop is open from the spring all the way round till the very late summer, where the last harvest of the season is sold for a discounted price.
Many of fathers and mothers will stop to purchase some flowers to liven up their homes & the alters they have for the 'Holy One' upon their mantels. These flowers are delightful and bring a smile to everyone's face when presented. Its a dearly beloved shoppe.

Old Row Townhomes

The Townhomes most of the valley live within are further away from the townsquare than that of the blessed. They are often two to four bedrooms, to account for large families and smaller families all the same. These homes have quaint little kitchens with windows over the kitchen sink. There's a little dining room & chimney sweep underneath the stairs for storage.
Often times they have a lovely living room and fireplace with a mantel! Upstairs they have the washroom and the various bedrooms for the home! All decorate differently but all have an alter on their mantle & have planter boxes where they can grow different spices and herbs throughout the seasons for future use and storage!

The Blessed Townhomes

The Blesseds Townhomes are those closer to the inner part of the town square. They do not differ to far from that of the other townhomes! They are often one or two bedrooms, to account for the elderly & newlyweds or those who recently had a child. These homes are reserved for these people as in the eyes of the village, these are the people who have been recently blessed by the 'Holy One'. These homes have quaint little kitchens with windows over the kitchen sink. There's a little dining room & chimney sweep underneath the stairs for storage.!
Often times they have a lovely living room and fireplace with a mantel! Upstairs they have the washroom and the various bedrooms for the home! All decorate differently but all have an alter on their mantle & have planter boxes where they can grow different spices and herbs throughout the seasons for future use and storage! They also frequently have cellars in the basement & floral wreaths upon their doors

Farmers Market

The Farmers Market is the innermost part of town, lined with various little shops and different things they may need! Every Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday, there is a huge farmers market where the local gardeners and farmers will bring their goods and set up shop for families to browse and seek out groceries' for the week. Sometimes this includes getting sweets for the young ones who did rather well in their studies that week!
There's stands for everything from freshly baked bread to that of vegetables and even being able to purchase live animals to carve up yourself at home for full body roast sorts of meals! They can also purchase artisan goods that those who have traveled have brought back to the village! Such as new pots and pans and such!
Everything within the village is done by hand when it comes to food so having this market is quite delightful!

Mama Bears Bakery

Mama bears Bakery is one of the best places in town to get a breakfast pastry when you are running late to the schoolhouse, or for mothers and fathers on the run to grab something quick to eat when they are getting off to work or going about their time with grocery shopping! Many of the families in the Valley will purchase their breads and pastries from here!
This quaint little bakery fills the air of the villages morning hours with the delicious scents of breads and pastries that'll be ready for purchase fresh out of the oven when the doors open upon that of 5 in the morning! The Woman who owns the bakery is getting on in her years but she is as devoted to her shop and village as ever, passing on the family business to her granddaughter who also works in the shop with her when school is out.

Oldefell's Local Shoppe

All preserves, artisan goods and general produce that comes from the main farm of the village is preserved and stored within the general shoppe for folks of the village to gather whatever they may need throughout the week that they can not obtain from the other shops or that of the butchers! They also carry that of spices that have been processed and dried in previous seasons for those who have run out quicker than they expected!
They sell a variety of fish, including the shell variety. Amongst this they also carry imported goods from that of Vin Cerina, all imported goods are thoroughly looked into and they do not touch anything that has had magic as apart of its process.

Saints Sweets & Toys

This cute little shop exists within the village for the children. Those who are good and follow their parents rules and chores, and do the best they can in their studies and in curch, are often given an allowance they can use on candy and toys from this shop. Its open all year round and is frequently the place that provides coins for the wishing well when it is a special childs birthday in the village!
The Wishing Well ceremony is always a very anticipated event and children will save all the prettiest coins they receive throughout the year to trade for a crystal one from the owner of Saints!
Many children of the town will also frequent this shop to purchase gifts to leave for the 'Holy One's alters in their home and church because they are told they will be blessed for doing so

Huckleberry Pharmacy

The Pharmacy is one of the least visited areas within the village, They are very weary of the medicines that need to be imported from Vin Cerina and frequently will try home remedies before they seek actual help for themselves or their children so they do not run the risk of getting a worse illness. Often Times however, they have a general cold in which its a very easy fix. Allergies are very common within the valley due to the wildflowers that bloom in spring! So many families do relent and purchase allergy and cold medicine every so often from the pharmacy.
They don't do prescription drugs however, they don't have a medical professional within the valley that is actually qualified for this & it goes against their religious beliefs.

On The Fringes of Town

These are the areas of the Valley that are not close to the heart of where everything goes on. Each of these buildings have different reasons for being further out

The Huckleberry Tavern & Inn

The Huckeberry tavern is probably one of the furthest building sfrom the rest of the village. It serves as the one place that will take in travellers for the night and feed them. The Villagers are very weird about other staying within their homes over night, espcially those not from the village. So they often direct them to the inn!
The Inn itself has two floors, the tavern where food and ale are to be sold and served for a much higher price to the foreigners and that of the inn where they foreigners can stay for the night before they are to be on their way.
On very rare occasions, the village will welcome newcomers into the village and extend the graciousness and word of their religion to them. Its a very comforting community once you get into it after all.

The Medics Home

The Medics home is not a very seen area of the Valley. Villagers will go there when they are ill and none of their natural remedies and medications will fix what has gone wrong. They also see the medic whenever they have injured themselves to a point they cant make the pain go away or they have broken a bone. Infants are also brought to the medic if not born within this home. The infants manabladder is thusly removed and discarded to be fed to the swine of Oldefells farm. The Medic is probably the only person within the village that still has an intact manabladder as its seen as a blessing and necessity from the 'Holy One'
The Medics home is very small, it's about the same as a typical townhome with the addition of a spacious room that has medical equipment, bedding and curtains for privacy.

Oldefell's Barn

The Old decrepted barn of the Oldefell farm is no longer used to house animals, rather there is a newer and more prestine barn closer to the townhome of the Oldefell family. This barn in paricular was left near the water of the lake, it has decayed and molded with the weather.
This is the place in which children, teens and adults all alike are disciplined by the village if they break rules, commit crimes or sins against the village or the church. They can be locked within for upwards of 3 days before being let out to atone for their sins.
It's a very gross, wet and damp place.

Oldefell's Farm

Oldefells Farm is the biggest farm the Village has! They have a ton of land, which is used during off season by the village for festivals! Such as the festival of flowers where they gather up the gardens flowers, dance and create paints in which they decorate their fur, scale or skin with and let the showers of the following day wash it all off!
In general though, the farm accounts for about 80% of the fresh crops and produce that the village eats, they are also responsible for the duck, chicken, cow, pig, and any other animals they consume and harvest for food. The new barns specific purpose is to house and care for these animals! One notable thing is that in the pig pen, there is an obsidian block with their scripture written within it, its like a little tombstone sort of pillar ontop. To outsiders this looks like a place to put some of the treats the pigs may receive.

The Gardens

The gardens belong to that of the Sweet Bloom Flower shop! Throughout the seasons, from early spring to late summer they will grow a wide variety of flowers and colors, all in preparation for the festival of colors in the late summer season! Its a festival of renewal, more like their new year if that makes sense!
Anyways, the garden is always rather fertilized and the flowers almost never have any issues growing here! Its often believed that The Wilds have been giving the growing lands of the village a lot of extra boost to the production and quality of the crops. For that, the Village celebrates the 'Holy One'

The Wilds Edge

The Wilds Edge is a chillingly luring place. Its at the very edge of the village, on the opposite side of the path they take down to Vin Cerina. The Wilds are a knowingly dangerous place and the children and adults alike of the village are forbidden from exploring the forest during the late afternoon to the evening and may not explore the edges of it unless they have more than one person with them and a weapon.
However they do use the edge of the wilds to harvest the forageable fruits & they capture some wilds fauna as well to get some interesting meats into their diet! However no one dares to break the rules that are in place for The Wilds, as there have been many deaths to the magical fauna lurking just beyond the edges.

Ascensions peak

This is a very sacred place for the valley. The villagers will celebrate ascensionism days, feasting for those who are to ascend and will be there to cheer them on as the pastor will say a sermon and give them passage into the 'Holy One's land!
The peak within itself is the highest peak of the Valleys land within the mountains, its about a 200-350ft drop straight down into the gully and riptides that hungrily lap at the mountains edge.
For Those in the village, there is a pillar of obsidian with their scripture inscribed, those who are to ascend are given floral wreaths and celebrated for the remainder of the time before the 'Holy One' Calls them home.

Magic Hotspots

These are unexplainable areas of very concentrated magic that have the ability to burst and cease to exist at any moment. These areas are sacred and forbidden to enter if you are not apart of the village.

The Pools of Time

The pools of time are located in a little outcove within the mountains, just a bit past the edge of the Wilds. No Villagers or Living Soul but the Mayor know about this place. The Pools themselves are essentially hot springs, they are big and steam. They are however VERY infused with magic and their properties change every single day so it's a gamble for if you will get the effect you desire. This is why you always bring something fresh with you test what pool is what, such as an apple.
See The pools have one of two properties; either it ages what's in it or it will deage whatever is in it. The rate in which it does this also changes, so it could be very slow or very rapid. The ideal pool is one that is slow and going back in time, this lets you chip a few years off yourself physically as long as you are fully submerged.

The Wishing Well

The Wishing Well is within the center of the town, its a cute little old stone well that has obsidian built into it with scripture they can not read as it is not the common tongue. The well itself gives general mineral rich water but it has a very special property to it.
It has mild healing properties, this makes it to where the village believes deeper that they do not need magic as the world around them will provide them with enough.
The water from this well is a very clear liquid with an iridescent glow to it. If you toss in a crystal coin into its waters on the day of your birth with the intention of a wish attached, the well will grant your wish within the year.
However there is ALWAYS a cost to your wish, more than just the coin of crystal you sacrificed for it. For example, wishing to leave the valley may mean you barely escape with your life and anyone you were with lost theirs at the cost of you getting out.

The Wilds Entrance

The Wilds Entrance refers to a old stone arch with a obsidian plate with unknown scribe. The arch usually has a golden gate on it. This hotspot is focused directly within this arch, if you catch it in the correct light, you will see an iridesent shimmer to the arch as if theres a massive bubble within.
If you step around the arch and that bubble, you wont experience anything weird with this location. This is why many people have shrugged it off as an unusual area within the Wilds Edge. however those who go through the arch disappears, gone within the instant and cannot be followed as whatever took them is gone, the shimmer with it. The person who stepped through will find themselves under an identical archway on the otherside of the world, usually deep within the wilds. They can not get back nor can anyone get to them. Their best bet would be to try and survive until they find another active arch.
These arches only reactivate when the person has left the vicinity.

The Ruins

The Ruins are a very unique are for a magic hotspot. As it is physically trapped in time. Those who enter the ruins will enter a place where time freezes, the air becomes still and quiet. If you stay within the bubble long enough you will begin to see visions outside the bubble & within of events that had long since passed, when the ruins were still whole all the way to visions of what will come.
You can never accurately tell what time period you are seeing for the ruins, but you can learn a lot about a future of the are or the past of the area. And when you step back from the ruins, you return the current time and its as if you were only standing there for a minute even if you were in there for hours.
The Ruins magic does not work if there is more than one individual within, if another steps into the ruins while are you within, time resumes as it had been before you had stepped in. Most chalk up the experiences they have of the ruins as hallucinations for being too deep in the Wilds.
