I. Getting set up

Treasury

The first step to everything is registering yourself to the treasury! It is required for events, shops, etc.

Once registered, you'll be given a treasury ID (please keep track of it), and you have your very own inventory and bank account set up. Items in this ARPG include pets, affinity totems, trait changers, restricted trait changers and more (see items section)!

You can view your items, wisps, critters, etc. here.

. . .

Discord server

https://discord.gg/mxV3d9x3fU

Although joining is completely optional, it is highly recommended! Most adopts are announced there, as well as exclusive giveaways from time to time. We have a very friendly and welcoming community and would love to have you!

. . .

Monthly events & raffles

We host events almost monthly! You can see the event schedule here. Each month, we also raffle off two official designs: one on TH and one on DeviantArt. In future, we might add items to the raffle prize!

II. Earning currency & art prompts

Wisps

Once registered, you can start earning wisps. See a more detailed guide on earning wisps here.

Our main species currency is called wisps (short for will-o-the-wisps). $1.00 = 100pts = 100 wisps. Wisps can be earned through ARPG participation such as drawing gift art of other people's characters (gift art event - always open), events (see event schedule), raids, and more! They are easy to earn and can be used in almost every Faian shop.

. . .

Kelp coins

Kelp coins are our 'premium' currency, which can be earned through certain art prompts. See a more detailed guide on earning kelp coins here (scroll down).

Kelp coins can be used during Flash events (explained below) to purchase the event items, to purchase rare restricted trait potions and charms, and to purchase affinity items. All shop links are located in the guides!

. . .

Art prompts

We offer a variety of art prompts for you to earn currency, items and more!

Art prompts that are available to all Faians are located here. There is also the Mage's Academy (for Faians with affinities only), and limited time event quests that can earn limited time items.

III. What are _?

Companion critters

Companion critters are collectible pets that can be given to your characters! Each critter species has multiple variations (colorations), and collecting a certain amount or type can yield rewards. You can track your collecting progress in your bestiary or see a list of all critters in the encyclopedia.

Limited time companion critters are also released for events and flash events! They can be obtained through the event's limited time expedition location.

. . .

Priority passes

Priority passes can be bought and used in the Adventurer's Guild. Normally, there is a one week cooldown period between expeditions (since they are completely free of charge - read more about expeditions in the free events and activities section). However, using a priority pass allows you to skip this wait period and immediately explore again. These are very useful during limited-time events!

. . .

Affinity items

Affinity items can be used to give your character an affinity in affinity activations. Affinities allow your character to participate in affinity raids, where a raid boss (a design with a full restricted trait set) can be defeated by the community's combined efforts to receive rewards (the raid boss will be given away to a random participants!). Raids are a great way to earn rewards - read more about raids in the owner-exclusive events and activities sections!

There are two types of affinity items (and four affinities for each - arcane, beast, divine and fae):

1) Affinity totems - allow you to give your character an affinity in affinity activations (depending on the totem's affinity)

2) Affinity fragments - fragments of affinity totems. Four fragments of the same affinity can be forged into a full totem in the fragment workshop, or two of any affinity (can be different) may be traded in for a fragment type of choice.

. . .

 Trait changers

Trait changers can be bought in species shops or found through expeditions. They can be used with a MYO ticket to access higher tier traits than your MYO ticket allows! For example, if you use an unusual MYO with a rare trait changer, you will be able to have a rare trait of that type. Trait changers can also be used when redesigning your character to change their trait/s.

There are three types of trait changers:

1) Regular trait changers - can be used to change a trait from any trait category to another trait of choice (of the trait changer's rarity or below).

2) Specific trait changers - can be used to change a trait from the trait changer's trait category (will be listed in the shop's item description) to another trait of choice (of the trait changer's rarity or below).

3) Restricted trait items - can be used to access restricted trait sets! Restricted trait sets are released for events and their items (both potions and charms) are only available for a limited time before the trait set expires. See a more detailed guide on restricted traits here and all restricted trait sets here.

IV. Obtaining a character

Intro

So you want to get your hands on on of our species characters? Here's a quick run-down on some of the best ways to do it! Faia is home to four main species: candle noodles, lumendras, tortuvinas, and ruptours. There is plenty of variety and a species for everyone!

. . .

MYO created designs

MYO tickets (make-your-own) allow you to create your own species design. See here for a more detailed guide on MYO tickets and the submission process.

There are three main ways to obtain a MYO:

1) MYO events: there will be at least one myo event per year! MYO events allow you to claim a common myo for free.

2) Trading between users (you must notify a mod here): feel free to use the official trading hub or the trading channel in the discord server.

3) Species shops: MYO tickets can be bought in species shops for wisps (species currency) or deviantart points. Calista's Artifacts sells candle noodle items, the SharkMart sells lumendra items, the Harpy's Haul sells tortuvina items, and Flowering Finds sells ruptour items.

If you are using a MYO ticket but don't have the rarity required to access your favorite trait, never fear - you can use a trait changer! Trait changers can be bought in the four main shops (Calista's Artifacts, SharkMart, Harpy's Haul, Flowering Finds) depending on the species. For a more detailed overview on trait changers, see their tidbit in the Items section.

. . .

Monthly raffles

Each month, two free-to-enter character raffles are posted and announced in the monthly newsletter bulletin as well as in the discord server. These usually end in under a week so keep an eye out on the first of every month for the newsletter and try your luck!

. . .

Adopts and customs

1) Official adopts - I, spectralswan frequently make adopts for everyone to enjoy! They are typically sold for USD or deviant points and are located in the top folder here.

2) Customs - I, spectralswan never have customs open, but I host custom auctions for special masterlist numbers for all  species! (ex: #500, #555, #600, etc.) If you would like to get a custom from the founder, keep an eye out for custom auctions announced in the discord server!

3) Guest designs - each month, we have a fresh new wave of monthly guest designers! (applications are located here - for more information please read the tidbit on GAs in the free events and activities section). Guest design adopts are located here, and they never fail to blow me away!

V. FTO friendly things to do

Gift art

You can also earn wisps through gift art prompts, which can be done anytime and don't require you to own a character!

. . .

Event activities

See the full list of event activities in the event schedule.

. . .

Become a guest artist!

If you would like to become a guest artist for any of our three species, you can apply here! We open applications almost every other month and you may apply to be one of the guest artists for the next month. As a guest artist, you will be able to make as many species adopts as you'd like (although there are a few guidelines) with all proceeds to you.

. . .

MYO events

Every year on each species' launch anniversary, a brief MYO event is held. MYO events are completely free, typically all you have to do is make a bulletin and ping a friend. They are always announced through world bulletins, and are a great way to get your first character if you are a FTO!

MYO event dates:

Candle noodles . October 31

Lumendras . June 1

Tortuvinas . August 1

Ruptours . February 14

VI. Owner-exclusive things to do

Expeditions

If you own any Faian character, you will be able to send them out on an expedition through the Adventurer's Guild once a week for free. Everything they find while out exploring is yours to keep, and rewards can range from affinity totems, companion critters, to trait changers! If you would like to skip the one-week wait period, you may purchase priority passes. Unique limited time expedition areas also open for every event, keep an eye out for the exclusive rewards such as limited time pets that can be found there!

. . .

Affinity raids

To participate in an affinity raid, you must own a Faian character with an affinity. Affinities are the magical houses of Faia. Your character's affinity can be activated through affinity totems (found through expeditions) and activated in the workshop. There are four affinites: arcane, beast, divine and fae.

Occasionally, a Faian will unlock their magical powers and decide to use it for an evil cause. Someone needs to stop them and teach them a lesson! Raids are similar to community boss fights; simple and fun to participate in. A raid boss will be announced, and those with eligible characters may contribute to raise the community's cumulative power. Depending on the final cumulative power and reward tier reached, upon defeating the raid boss all participants receive rewards such as  restricted trait items, pets, wisps, and even the raid boss themself as a character!

. . .

Quests and art prompts

Quests can be found here! Quests are a fun way to explore the realm of Faia as well as your character through art prompts. You do not need to own a character to do these prompts, although you are allowed to draw your own character. Each species (candle noodles, lumendras, tortuvinas) has a unique main questline, and there are side-questlines for everyone!

. . .

Mage's Academy

The Mage's Academy is a series of art prompts (for characters with affinities only) that allows them to learn the skills necessary to rank up their affinity power, and eventually become a mage. Characters with the mage status will receive benefits such as having a permanent affinity spirit, having a personalized staff (received in the third rank) and more!

. . .

Event activities

See the full list of event activities in the event schedule.

. . .

Flash events

Every so often, unscheduled 48 hour events are hosted! To participate, there will be a series of art prompts that you can only complete with your own character. Event items will only be obtainable in that short time frame through prompts and purchasing from Elmyra's Trading Post, although they may reappear a few months later in other shops.
