Lore created by heliacalrisen

Any of the race Vhampir originate from one particular half of Death Island. The creations of a God whose entire being opposed that of living, breathing creation. A close second only to the God of Chaos, Sanguinaris as he had so named himself, preferred to watch the world around him fall into disarray. He never cared for peace, and saw those of the living variety as simply animals. Livestock. A taste was developed by him for the blood of living creatures - a gift he believed should not belong to him and him alone. A gift he should share. An opportunity to share this gift and make a mockery of humanity came upon him when a few humans happened upon his half of Death Island. A few failed experimental creations of his own were sent out to capture them and bring them to him. A perfect group - of which he used to make the basis of the Vhampir. Dissecting humans, learning how their bodies worked, were all he needed to create the first of the Vhampir.

Vhampir were meant to be human-like in apperance, but with a few special little tweaks. A slightly more montrous appearance was given to them - slit pupils, pointed ear tips (though not to be confused with elves; these ears remain the size of human ears), sharpened nails that act as claws and the final touch was the fangs that became widely recognized. The creatures he created were a perfect race to Sanguinaris - perfect for his purposes and a small army of which to sit behind in case any other God or Goddess should come knocking. Sanguinaris did spend the next few years honing the Vhampir into what is now known and seen around Achelois. Of course, the two sub-species were not planned, but Sanguinaris welcomes them nevertheless as half his creations. If they are loyal to him, they are welcome on Sanguinarian Lands.

Vhampir

Vhampir, also known as the Vampire, are the first in the Sanguinarian Order of creatures. There are a few distinct traits to them that allow them to be identified from the commonplace human.

Their heights vary between 6ft to 8ft tall.
Their eyes will always be varying shades of black, grey, white, red, orange or yellow and have a slit pupil.
Their ears, while human sized, will end in a point.
Instead of fingernails, they will sport natrually black claws (though some have painted theirs).
Ever prominent fangs, later called 'vampire fangs' by humans.

A Vhampirs diet is not strictly based around blood (a Hemovore). They are able to eat other foods like a human (an Omnivore). Their preference is blood; but if none is available or they cannot reach any potential sources to drink from, they can resort to regular human food. Some even do it to blend in.

Vhampir lifespans are eternal, granted they avoid being outright murdered or starved. A Vhampir will die if they have not eaten in two weeks. The only other method to kill a Vhampir is to remove and burn their heart. Vhampir heal unnaturally fast if they are well fed on blood; one of a few specific abilities granted to them.

There are a few natural boost Vhampir have; enhanced strength, enhanced speed, and enhanced senses (sight/hearing). Vhampir are able to use some minor magic, a blessing from Sanguinaris. Illusionary magic is most common among them, to make their victims more agreeable and to sway them in their favor, or in some cases to even woo them. The other ability they often use is a simple venom they produce. Before drinking, they will inject a victim through a bite. The venom allows the whole drinking experience to be pleasurable instead of painful for the victim. Some Vhampir use the venom, others don't. It is a personal preference. It is extremely rare to see a Vhampir with abilities beyond these, though some have shown an ability to control shadows and use them to travel, or to shapeshift into animals.

Their overall cultural aesthetic is gothic in nature, extravagant, and sometimes flamboyant. They pride themselves on beauty, and often times spare no expense on looking their best, or living somewhere breathtaking. They are drawn most to reds and blacks, though anything of a darker nature is generally what they will clothe themselves in.

Ghoul

The Ghoul came about when a Vhampir first decided to give a dying human victim some of their blood in a twisted experiment to satisfy curiosity. The human rose up from death and mutated before the Vhampir's own eyes. Loyal to their Sire, the Ghoul followed them around almost mindlessly, and flew into a frenzy when it saw human victims. The Vhampir later sired a few more Ghouls, and then brought it to Sanguinaris' attention. Sanguinaris delighted in it, and sent out information to other Vhampir. Now, it is well known a Vhampir has an option to turn a human victim into a Ghoul - of which have varying degrees of intelligence and are bound to go feral at one point in their lives as they starve relatively quickly and become desperate for any blood to keep their existence. A Ghoul is very easy to tell apart from a Vhampir or Dhampir;

Ghouls will have lost all color to them. Greyish dead skin tones are the first giveaway.
Ghouls hair will almost always be some variety of white, though some darker grey and black have been reported very rarely.
Ghouls eyes will completely drain of their color, often turning grey or white. They also sport the slit pupil.
They often look perpetually tired; the bags under their eyes are often incredibly prominent.
They will have the Vhampir fangs.
Claws in place of nails will also appear; though always stay black.
Their heights remain the same as they were when human.'

A Ghouls diet is strictly blood (a Hemovore); if they digest any other type of food, they will become incredibly sick. Too much of non-blood food intake, and they can suffer a poisoning of their body and die. Ghouls often steer clear of food that is human made for this purpose.

Ghouls are the weakest sub-species of Vhampir. They share the same semi-immortality as Vhampir, but have much more weaknesses. A Ghoul cannot go out into natural light or they will burn to death. Silver will burn them as well. They are incredibly weak to fire and can die to it. Two days without any blood will kill them from starvation. Simply stabbing the heart will also kill them (the tool does not matter). Holy water or Celestial/Holy magics will also disintegrate them when used properly.

Their fashion and place of residence is either up to their Vhampir Sire, or they end up in their old tattered human clothes, and usually form hives with other Ghouls whom Sires abandon them. These hives are often hunted and burned, killing the Ghouls inside. Most Ghouls are seen as pests to the living. As both Undead and Vhampir, they are rather universally hated, especially for their frenzied murder sprees.

Ghouls only have enhanced strength and agility at their disposal. They have none of the magical abilities of the Vhampir. If they had magical abilities as a living human, they are lost upon becoming a Ghoul.

Ghouls are also heavily dependant. If they have no Sire to lead them, they have no direction, and will aimlessly go about surviving until someone or something kills them. They are often used as soldiers by Vhampir, seen as nothing better than lowly cannon fodder or servants.

Dhampir

A Dhampir is the result of a Vhampir and a Human procreating. They do not happen often, but those that do often find themselves in unique positions. Dhampir are not usually too well treated among Vhampir, though on the odd occasion a few have found a home in Sanguinarian lands. A Dhampir mixes human and Vhampir traits.

Dhampir do not have the same pointed ears; they have human ears.
There is a fifty-fifty chance of a Dhampir having the claws - some even can hide theirs at will.
Dhampir stand between 5ft to 8ft tall.
A Dhampir's eyes are purely red; they vary in shades, but stay red.
They have the slit pupil as well, but some can hide it.
They all have the Vhampir fangs.

A Dhampir feeds equally between blood (a Hemovore) and human food (an Omnivore). Although, blood will give them more benfits, boosting their Vhampir abilities. Some carry vials of blood with them in the case they need to spice up their abilities for a fight or for a hunt - any reason they deem necessary.

Dhampir inherit all of the Vhampir abilities (though they can lose touch with them if they do not have enough blood over their lives, though it can be fixed with a straight blood diet for a while), as well as the potential to use magic. The human parts of them allow them to connect with magics; though the Dhampir that do are almost always destructive with their magic, as their Vhampir blood leans toward destruction more than anything else.

Dhampir take a variety of aesthetics and culture in. Some adhere to Vhampir aesthetics, others take after human aesthetics. They can look however they please, they are only held to Vhampir standards when on Sanguinarian land.

A Dhampir has the same lifespan as a Vhampir; though can be killed by any means that would kill a normal human. More often than not, they have to be extremely careful.

Thrall

The final piece of Vhampir culture is the pet humans some Vhampir keep. These humans are often willing; going with a Vhampir because of their enjoyment of the venoms effect on them. These human are classed as Thrall and are kept locked away within a Vhampirs home. A lot of Dhampirs are the product of a Thrall and a Vhampir when a Vhampir is invited to go further than they should.

Thrall are often treated better than Ghouls, though under more restrictions. A Thrall is to dress how the Vhampir wants, do as the Vhampir demands, eat whatever the Vhampir gives them, and never leave the Vhampir's home. Breaking any of the rules are grounds for death.
