Jestefections

Jestefections! The quirky, unique, strange, and all around…pretty mortal of all the residents of Patissereign.  At their essence, they’re anthropomorphic sugar animals.  Don’t think it ends there, though.

Design/Traits

Jestefections are, as mentioned above, anthropomorphic sugar animals.  And when I say that, I mean they walk on two feet like we’re used to as humans, wear full sets of clothes, talk, etc.

Jestefections do not act like animals at all, though, and are one of the two “mortal” species, with the other being Sugar Haveners.  Both species/classes are the equivalent of societal “humans” to us, populating the world all over, building civilization, language, roller coasters, etc.  But nobody “barks”, “meows”, “baaahs”, scratches themselves with their legs, and such.  However, if someone has wings, they totally will use them to get around!

One of the most interesting things about jestefections is that they have a jester theme!  Harlequin, zany pieces that remind you of jester hats, and all around fun can be found on jestefection designs.  Considering the myxoreigns made them to be the jesters (and also advisors, to the jestefections’ chagrin) of the world, bringing happiness, cheer, insight and wisdom and fun to all, it only makes sense.

One thing to note is that the sapient residents of Patissereign (Jestefections, Myxoreigns, Sugar Haveners and Gooilings) don't have fur covering their bodies.  Their skin and makeup actually feel like the dessert they're made out of!

Adornments

A rather odd concept, but an adornment is basically just a large variation of that person’s dessert sticking out of them.  You can usually tell what someone’s adornment(s) is by looking at their hair. It’s a very large dessert there!

Jestefection adornments, to match their jester theme, usually look very zany and will curve, swirl, hang, or all around just seem to dance off of their hair.  If you look close enough, you might even see some that resemble a jester hat!

An adornment is part of someone’s physique, so it’s literally a part of them that grows, hurts when hit, etc.  Some adornments are a bit odd in how/whether they hurt exactly, how they grow back if cut off (which will be very painful, mind you, it’s considered head trauma), but overall it’s a part of a jestefection.

Jestefections born without an adornment are said to be cursed.

Specific Traits

Aka, what makes a Jestefection a Jestefection lol.  Roughly, at least.

  • Jestefections can be any anthropomorphic animal species (or weird blend of animal species, long as it's anthro).  They cannot, however, be humans.  Those are a different class the myxoreigns created, called Sugar Haveners!  They have their own biology, to be specified in their lore page (sugar haveners are meant to be like princes and princesses, though, producing...interesting relations with the jestefections occasionally).
  • A Jestefection has what's called "adornments" as mentioned above: the whole form of dessert that they're meant to represent.  These are strewn throughout their hair and are quite large!
  • A Jestefection's adornments come in multiple of 3!  No one exactly knows why, but they do.  But they have at least 3 of these large sugar adornments attached to their hair, normally in some sort of pattern
  • One "adornment" consists of 3 full desserts stacked (or hanging) on top of each over in a topsy, turvy way!  So they can look pretty zany!  The desserts on one adornment also tend to look jester like, such as a jester hat, a carnival theme like a carosel, etc.  This is to reflect their jester spirit the mxyoreigns gave them!
  • They have sugar around their wrists that look like jester gloves!
  • In general, the patterns of sugar, chocolate, etc all on them tend to have some sort of jester pattern, such as harlequin, stripes, etc.
  • A Jestefection may also spout a small mane that looks similar to a jester's costume

Psychology

Jestefections have many different personalities, but usually with one common thread: fear of the myxoreigns, or at least deep reverence.  Jestefections have normally been the ones always keeping to their own side and enjoying themselves, hoping the gods won’t notice them, for that would introduce all sorts of complications to their fun and lives in general.Created by their gods as the fun loving advisors for both the more leadership focused Sugar haveners, and also advisors for the gods themselves, Jestefections, no matter how crazy, usually come with a reverent mindset toward whoever shows to be in charge, if only to merely survive another day.  Due to this, they also have pretty heavy gallows humor dealing with their plight of being under the gods to ease the existential crisis many of them experience daily.

With a jester mindset, they’re also the most jovial and electric of all classes, and they’ll be the ones with the best parties, most colorful and vibrant…everything, cracking jokes behind everyone’s backs with their friends, and the most innovative and creative. One doesn’t need to look any further than the NightFare: the worldwide nighttime scene first headed by Jestefections themselves!
