Holidays

Some of the holidays in the world, and their real world equivalents!

Gracious Givings Day

Holiday Equivalent: Christmas

Month: December

Day: 25th

Tis the Season!  Gracious Givings is their Christmas!  But the main focus is on giving your myxoreign (or myxoreigns in general if you don’t know yours yet) a ton of gifts as gratitude for all that they’ve done in your life.

With Gracious Givings, the advertisements will almost always be for shiny things to give your myxoreign.  Jestefections give them the most expensive gifts as a sacrifice, and give each other much less expensive gifts.  The focus is on giving to others, though, hence why other gifts are even given at all.

Also, the entire day is spent pampering your myxoreign and doing whatever they want.  This mostly involves the myxoreign in question just wanting to spend the whole day with you in the most chill manner possible to not burden you, so there’s that.  People normally say to give them above and beyond what they ask for, though, so many plan more elaborate things like expansive dinners, going to expensive places, doing things they’ve always wanted to do (like travel, etc).  Myxoreigns, in response, will insist they just want to spend time and keep it low key, thus creating a little banter between the two parties.

Night of Terror/Night of Reverence

Holiday Equivalent: Halloween

Month: October

Day: 31st

The night of terror is a night to celebrate fear.  But not just any fear…that’s right, it’s for fear of myxoreigns!  The righteous kind of fear, of course.

The whole day is spent focusing on how terrifying and powerful myxoreigns are as a reminder to respect them, but also a day for you to face your fears of them!  Especially your own.

The main focus of the day is to set up sacrifices (something you value or sin you’re in) to your myxoreign to keep their wrath at bay.  It’s all about avoiding myxoreigns’ wrath, so expect lots of scary stories about those who disobey them!  It’s also a focus/reminder of just HOW powerful they are and reverence for them, so people dress up as their myxoreign to strike terror into other people’s hearts and remind them they’re gods and NOT to be messed with!

Of course, myxoreigns feel some type of way about this day, as they don’t really enjoy people acting like they’re out to get them!

One custom (which is very risky) is for one person in your domain to dress up as your myxoreign while the others dress up as each other, acting out how daily life goes and just in general poking fun at what you have to deal with while also showing others how scary your myxoreign is.

This is quite risky as, well, your myxoreign usually doesn’t like being poked at QUITE this much in the fear department, and may get discouraged.  It’s a balance of respecting them but also jesting…without getting killed, of course.

Jestefections go PRETTY far in making very elaborate (and accurate) costumes that look exactly like their myxoreign, sometimes down to people recording them or mimicking their voices!

Many people also focus on other aspects of them, such as the old sacrifice system, curses and places that have been cursed (or people…), how fearsome their roars are, showing just how sharp their claws are, etc.

Another aspect is sacrifice. At night, people go around to get candy from others.  The premise behind this is that back in the old days, people would collect valuable things from everyone in the community to then give to their myxoreigns in an offering.Only the absolute best was given: gold, silver, diamond, gems of all sorts, luxurious fabrics and expertly crafted pottery were some of the more popular things.  However, as time went on, the myxoreigns wanted less sacrifice and more relationship.  Jestefections would go around door to door and STILL try to collect valuable things to give to their myxoreigns, but the myxoreigns started feeling a bit odd at the piles of gold watches, diamond rings (yes, even people’s wedding rings) and such they were given out of fear.  As such, it’s no longer customary to give actual valuable things to your myxoreign from others that night.  However, to keep in the spirit with giving your best to your myxoreign at all times, it turned into giving nice candy instead!  Candy makers starting creating lavish, gorgeous and expensive candies in the shape of old given things.  Things such as highly polished and cut hard candies made to look exactly like precious stones, detailed crowns made with edible gold leaf and gems and pearl candies, and even candy that’s meant to look like well crafted embroidery and tapestries are now made, and have the price to match, too.  However, these are meant to be a sacrifice to your myxoreign, and are also very difficult to make by the manufacturers, thus the high price. In the minds of jestefections, anything less expensive wouldn’t be a sacrifice and wouldn’t be honoring them properly!

People still go around to collect the expensive candy at night from others, then go home and add their own expensive candy to the pile.  Then they’ll go and give the whole container of lavish candies to their myxoreign!  Usually the myxoreign is very appreciative, then invites them to come and share the candy with them and hang out.A good amount of the time, the myxoreign will actually give you back ALL the candy so YOU can enjoy it!  It then turns into “please, you take it”, “no, you can take it”, “no, I insist”, “no, trust me you deserve it WAY more”, “but I love you dearly and want you to enjoy yourself!”, etc!

Myxoreign like dressing up as well, so they’ll want to go door to door too and join in.  Usually jestefections will just give all the candy directly to them in that case, to which the myxoreign will usually try to share it with them, causing a back and forth between the two parties, haha.

Occasionally, myxoreigns will dress up as their domain members with their permission, and “switch” roles for a day, where the jestefections get to boss around the myxoreign and they’ll do whatever they say.  Normally jestefections are pretty leery of this day, as, y’know, it’s only temporary, lol.
