Daemoni are a dominant species native to Unina. Throughout history they have been considered evil and ‘curses’ created by Scarmarta. While yes, they were created by Scarmarta, they are not as evil as they are assumed to be. They are the most common species to find in Kairon and Metraania. They are a truly powerful species, but rarely have a reason to use their full abilities. Daemoni are characterised by their ability to teleport and their shadows, known as ‘Erithi’.

APPEARANCE/ AT A GLANCE

All Daemoni have digitigrade legs and tails, alongside long and thin ears and grey pupils. They often feature sharp claw-like nails and unique spinal markings that run from the beginning of their spine right through to the end of their tails.

Each subtype f Daemoni feature their own unique traits that set them apart from the other subtypes.

Jagar_Castella_Ref.png

The most common and balanced variant. While they have no variant unique ability, they make up for it in tenacity. They have the most physical endurance and are the most likely to learn a wide range of skills. They are most versatile, able to lean into most areas while still being well balanced. THey are generally the least feared type of Daemoni.

The magic competent variant. They have the strongest magical abilities out of the four variants. They are recognised by their generally shorter stature and the brilliant crystal that makes its home on a Druier forehead. During combat this crystal is known to glow brightly and display a hovering third eye above the Daemoni’s head. They have two thin, whip-like tails that often sport symmetrical patterns that glow when using their magic. Many Druier Daemoni either become hermits or prophets for their variant unique ability of being able to into the future. With intensive training, Druier Daemoni can see quite far into the future. Due to their prophetic abilities, they have much stronger magic abilities which usually means they can harness more magic skills (up to 4) than the other types, but this means they can only shift into one or two alternate forms. Their Erithi usually sports a lithe frame and either many or no eyes.

Known for their commonly giant builds that allow them to tower over their foes. They sport gargantuan hands and a thick tail to slam into foes or the ground. Their variant unique ability means they can control their Erithi more and ‘meld’ with them while retaining control over their body.

Known for their advanced shape-shifting abilities, being able to shapeshift into more different forms than the other variants (at the cost of their magical prowess), they are even able to change the shape of their Erithi into three different shapes. They are recognised for their exceptionally long tails that often have animalistic traits to them, and in some cases their ears can be replaced by animalistic ones.

The Erithi is an anomaly unique to the Daemoni species. Their shadows do not often appear as reflections of their own bodies. Rather, monstrous protrusions and forms are reflected in the shadows. This is because the Erithi, their darker side, lives in their shadows. This beast can grow to gargantuan sizes and become a physical creature, once let loose from its Daemoni. There are two methods of utilising an Erithi in combat. Most Daemoni will elect for this method of Erithi assistance as the other method is much more risky. The alternative method involves the Daemoni melding with the Erithi to become a sort of hybrid of the two with physical characteristics of the Erithi forming upon the Daemoni. This method is quite risky for most variants however, since the Erithi has a much stronger aura and can take over the Daemoni’s body like a parasite. This would mean the Daemoni becomes the host for the Erithi as it controls the body. Through most cases in history there has been an equal split between Daemoni who are able to regain control of their bodies and force their Erithi back into its shadow form and those Daemoni who are lost forever and the Erithi terrorises the country until it is dealt with, usually by the Alconvas Organisation. This beast is both a gift and a curse to the Daemoni species.

All Daemoni have the ability to teleport short-medium distances. How it physically and visually appears is unique to the individual. Daemoni are the most likely to suffer from a condition known as ‘Gemini magic’, which is an affliction in which the individual harnesses two elements that oppose each other. In the case of Gemini magic, these elements work together to create unique attacks when used together, however can still be used separately. Up to 80% of the Daemoni population is afflicted by this defect.

Daemoni can teleport with others attached to them, however it exhausts nearly twice as much energy and tires them out much quicker.

Daemoni, especially of the shifteri subtype, are known for their ability to shape shift. In their alternative forms, Daemoni will always have some form of horns, where possible their tails will match how they naturally look and mimic the subtype traits (Guardera with bigger paws, Druier with a forehead crystal and two tails, etc). They are capable of staying in their shifted forms for days, however must eventually revert back to their human ones. Each time they shift it takes a considerable amount of magic energy.

Daemoni reproduction, birth and raising mirrors that of humans. The Daemoni gestation lasts for 7-8 months. When Daemoni are first born, they lack a shadow for up to a year before their shadow and Erithi develop. After that first year has passed, the Daemoni and Erithi will grow together alongside each other.

Angelum are Daemoni's ancient ancestors that were the true cause of defining the Daemoni's negative image. Known to be overly tall and aggressive, they frequently combined with their Erithi to grow in strength and ability. They were the primary enemies of the Valkyrie Phoenix for years. They lived for much longer lifespans than the modern day Daemoni, often fabled to have a timeless lifespan that rivaled the pantheon. They are now believed to have become extinct.
