Rob Brauer was born in Laramie, Wyoming in 1947. He moved to Kentucky with his family in 1960 at the age of 13 and stayed there the rest of his life. At 18 (1967) he met Veronika Fuchs, a 15 year old high-school student at a local diner while studying for his first serious job application. She was working as a dishwasher and came to sit next to him during her break. At first it was due to Rob piquing her interest (as he was a newly adult man wearing expensive clothes in a run down diner) but over time it became a routine, and they began to make plans for the future together due to their very similar interests. It was not until 1 year later that anything would come of those, though. In 1968 Veronika introduced Rob to her long time friend and neighbor Yvonne, a 13 year old girl obsessed with the punk movement and all things macabre. She had black hair and ratty clothes and listened to very few people. Despite what others would say about her, Veronika knew of her aspirations to be in a band and knew deep down this wasn't something she could pass up for Yvonne's sake.

suddenly it all fell into place. None of their parents were particularly pleased with this revelation but the three of them were too stubborn to let their parents disapproval get in the way of their dreams. They spent a few months pumping out sloppy songs that ranged from glam to punk to metal, nothing really stuck at first until they played their first couple shows... it was evident that Yvonne loved the stage life and eventually the other two followed suit with the stage performances. During one of their first performances an older boy who called himself Duke introduced himself to the band as a drummer looking for somewhere to play. Evidently they needed a percussionist and it worked out perfectly. They were now 4 people strong. 1969 slowly crept up on them and that meant Yvonne turning 14 and going into high school. At that point Veronika was in her senior year and urged Yv to give it a try. The mocking and belittling at the hands of the other freshman proved too much for Yvonne, though, and she quickly dropped out (much to the further dismay of her parents).

The longer their band went on, the larger their following got. In mid-late 1972 they soft-released their first record on a 500 cap pressing. It sold out in a couple weeks and before long they were offered a record deal, which they took advantage of the following year.

When the band started in 1969, Rob was a pretty normal guy with short black hair and no sense of fashion outside of whatever his parents bought him from the monthly Sears catalog. things changed after meeting and playing with the girls. Once a sad sack of young adult angst, now a man covered in animal print with platform shoes and 3 cans of hairspray in his hair (and a comb in his pocket). After Duke's addition to the band there was more of set genre and expectation for the visual style of the band's members and before long... they were ALL wearing makeup!
