Parasite Voids: Extras (Jubei Watatsumi)

Jubei is a sweet, loving, abhorrently cheesy, outdoorsy, and overwhelmingly emotionally supportive package of a man. Similar to Nodoka, he seems to understand extremely complex and deep emotions and always has a flawless, yet simply-put and supportive answer to them, but is embarrassingly slow at putting together obvious emotions. His humility and ability to read Noriko's complex thought processes and emotions well is what drew Noriko to slowly fall into a deep crush. Though he sounds charismatic, and definitely is, Jubei doesn't like to have too many friends and likes his circle small, and leans to introverted people more because to him, they are more easy to understand. To him, a good day is a smooth day of fishing and coming home to spend the rest of the evening with the wife and kid. Jubei loves the simplicities of life, and being in his general vicinity alone is a calming experience.

He is a bit clumsy and even irresponsible when it comes to safety, hence his scar on his eye and several scars on his body from his outdoor endeavors. While he spent a bunch of time with Nodoka at his side, he still tended to accidentally leave Nodoka unsupervised for a bit too long because he gets distracted, but Jubei always snaps back before anything dire can happen. While Jubei might be lacking in child safety compared to Noriko, his other fatherly aspects shines through the small blemishes. Despite being the most nervous about having Nodoka out of internal fears of being a mediocre father, Jubei has a natural paternal gift and would do anything to make sure Nodoka has the best childhood--and if he were still here, Jubei would do anything to guarantee that Nodoka's adult life goes smoothly as well. Jubei loves to savor every moment with his family, and will absolutely break down to tears if Nodoka or Noriko do something a bit too cute. (Noriko also does this, but hides it with smothering love instead.) He believes every moment, every second is worth remembering. He is also a very hands-on and activity heavy parent and loves bonding with his family through outdoor activities; this doesn't stop him from sleeping on the sofa with little Nodoka for a couple hours at a time, though.

His only crime as a parent was letting Nodoka eat too many sweets as young as she was. Now she's one of those boomers that talks about having sugar pangs and that all mornings should start with a sweet snack and that it's the breakfast for champions. You did this Jubei. It's your fault.

As a teenager, he was less sweet and more of a show off attention seeking type. Being paired with Noriko in physical education in middle school was what made him change because Noriko had a genuine anxiety attack and told him to his face, "I don't like how you are. You seem like you'd call me a bitch for missing one shot. The thought makes me panic...I'm clearly so unfit for this. You would definitely ridicule me on the spot. Can you just pretend I'm not here or something?" Jubei felt terrible about that being a random girl's first impressions of him, and changed his ways to be more sportsman like, and eventually evolved to the sweet man he is now. He also probably had a bit of a crush, maybe. She was quite charming all things considered. A shame Jubei doesn't see Noriko again until college!
