They are binded. Relying on each other to survive, they cling to one another in an unfamiliar world. The new world is nothing like they know. Mankind has struck the duo into a life of misery and hurt, yet, the mankind they see now is innocent. Natural. Breathtaking. While neck deep into fear, the two take their chances in the outside world to seek acceptance and companionship even as an atrocity created by manmade hands. They beg for forgiveness, even though the forgiveness they seek is not a sin of their own, but rather, another.

Personality
"Mankind is so weird! Sadistic at times, but I like the fun parts of it."

"Opening up myself is so hard. I'll try my best to do better about that."

While Hime and Ouka do have many different personality traits that vary between each other, they also share some. Hime and Ouka both harbor the same feelings on mankind. They are perpetually afraid of it and think that humans are manipulative and sadistic, due to the suffering they have endured, and are in the process of unlearning such. Despite their intital feelings, Nodoka's promise to make sure they get a chance of being accepted after Noriko's atrocious acts makes them attempt to meld in and understand humanity. They both crave and desire acceptance, and wish to be able to relax and let their guard down around those they are convinced are out for them. They both start off as naturally distant and try to stay away from too much interaction with other humans out of fear they'll get hurt. However, the more they spend time with [their host] Aoki and the other voids, they begin to just function probably the most normally out of all the parasites outside of Yomi. Especially Ouka. They become accustomed and intrigued with the outside world, with some cautions of course. They become so fucking accustomed they get into the worst field of work ever. Convenience store retail. Their opinions on humans are literally going to get fucking worse. Oh, yeah. They also are very very into their host and love her very, very much (and both are admittedly quite clingy. Inhumanly clingy, actually.) How sweet!

Hime, the main victim, has a perplexing interworking in her consciousness. She will, on average, be the more responsive one compared to Ouka once she decides that someone is harmless. (she does this by. sniffing them. doggirl rights.) Despite being the more responsive one, it doesn't mean automatic trust in someone. Hime will not hesitate to physically attack someone, harmless or harmful, if she feels they are threatening her or Ouka. If she feels it was an unreasonable attack, however, she gets very emotional and pleads forgiveness, and attempts to leave the situation out of fear that the target will begin to hate her. (but no one could ever hate this goofy milf. man fuck noriko) While Hime is aware and fully competent as an adult and is still 80% the same Parasite Void she was before "Hime Project" (god i feel like i have to clarify this bc people are fucking creepy about characters that are messed up from experiments and shit,) she is very clearly damaged from the experimentation. Her thoughts feel randomized at times and she is able to rapidly change topics with no effort at all. She also has moments where she spaces out much harder than Ouka and is overall the more loopy one. Most of these are defensive mechanisms she developed that prevent her from thinking too hard about the experimental abuse, but is somewhat unaware this is what they are for, believing this is just how she is now. She is a bit insecure about all of this, and fears nobody would want to listen to someone like her. Aoki shows her the exact opposite of this.

Ouka, whom was fused to Hime to cancel out her potent EXS, is the more sensible but extremely distant end of the two. He tries to not let anyone into his true emotions, and will only show what he's like on a surface level. While Hime is mainly physically protective of the two, Ouka is more emotionally protective, and tries to protect Hime and himself from any more mental harm with his more closed off approach to situations regarding the outside world. His surface level personality does give a sneak peek into what he's potentially more like; Ouka is surprisingly pleasant despite being quiet, and his more dorky traits are somewhat prevalent, such as his tendency to butt into conversations not involving him if he feels like he has valuable facts or opinions to contribute (and will typically only be two sentences before he leaves the premises...what a strange guy.) Deep down his gated heart, though, is a very emotional man. A man that yearns and aches for someone to listen to him, to love him and Hime together, to be there when he cries and when he's anxious, and to accept him and Hime as they are. He desires a sense of companionship that allows him to open his heart show what he truly is like. The real Ouka is tender, easily flustered, loves the feeling of someone's physical touch and reciprocating it, very very talkative, can get easily excited and happy, and can even be a bit loopy and lack some reason like Hime if stimulated enough. He wants to be able to break his walls easily like Hime does, but he is scared that his emotions will be too much and will make others turn on him. As much as he wants to, he is nervous that if he does let his guard down, both him and Hime will get hurt, so he keeps it up. Aoki shows him that it's good to exert caution and be a voice of reason, as not all people are the best. While this is true, Aoki lets him know that he can also be open and honest with his emotions and let the true him be out there, as holding it in will hurt him more. He, along with Hime, begins to express himself more, and is currently doing quite an excellent job. However, Aoki and Hime have the pleasure of being the only people to see Ouka completely unfiltered. How precious.

Patience (Ouka)

  • okay while the bars show otherwise they just lose patience in a very pouty "want this thing now" way they're actually genuinely very patient with serious things.
  • They are really into textures that feel good to rub and shampoos that smell good. Currently they both agree that faux fur blankets and apple cinnamon shampoo are the best items created by human hands.
  • Hime's main hobbies are cooking, reading books about literally anything, swimming, and chasing off flying animals.
  • Ouka's main hobbies are (also) cooking, stacking cards, fondant art, and building garage kits. (He's embarassed about this, but he chases off flying animals with Hime too...)
  • If you take Hime's bandages off, there are a lot of messed up scars similar to one in a Zero Vessel state painted all over her arm and a big one over her mangled eye. Don't try to remove them, even if they are utimately healed. She will either cry or slash at you.
  • Ouka also has a big scar on his back. He isn't really bothered by it anymore. After being exposed to human entertainment he thinks of it as a tattoo nowadays. Honestly so happy for him.
  • Hime likes getting pet right on her fluffy ears and scalp area. Ouka likes getting pet under his ear and thumb rubs.
  • Though both their consciousness is damaged and more messed up than the average conscious of a Parasite Void, it comes with a small upside. They're the only Voids that can fall asleep almost similarly to how humans do.
  • Their meltdowns are sad. They're very sad. Ouka just mostly cries but Hime's is indescribably worse and awful. I'm so glad they have Aoki now one hug from her and they feel more better.
  • Every week they have a game night with Aoki. They mostly do board games, racing games, and those dance games with really bad sensory detection.
  • Their favorite food is quite literally anything with bananas in them. More specifically banana bread, though.
  • All three of them are decent at rhythm games. Ouka has lingering past memories of them unbeknownst to him, Aoki is the best I*DX player in Sado (she's mediocre but Sado doesn't have a big population so,) and Hime's just kind of a natural. Yes all three of them are annoying about hogging up cabinets too.
  • Hime is really terrible at scaling fish, especially when using the sukibiki method.
  • Ouka would really like to get more close to Aoki individually...
  • Their full names are Hime Takamine and Ouka Futaoka. If their past didn't tell you enough these two are obviously very in love. So much so that they narrowly avoid being star crossed repeatedly. They love each other better when Aoki loves them too, though.
  • HIME ALSO HAS A TAIL AND YES IT WAGS WHEN SHE'S HAPPY
  • okay sorry hime project fans these two are also canonically autistic as well. they're significantly more lower on the spectrum compared to...well.
  • These two love kissing. my god. aoki's not safe. theyre not even safe from each other

Backstory

In their past as humans, Hime was an animal conservationist, and Ouka was a doctor and chiropractor; and all the traits needed for such fields show in their personalities as Voids. Both of them knew each other closely in the past, even though they have no memories of such now. Hime recovered exotic animals that were illegally sold and nursed them back to health. Out of all of them, a Himalayan Wolf affectionately named Oto would become her permanent pet once obtaining a permit. Hime and Oto loved each other greatly, but Oto had a tendency to bite too hard as a sign of his affection. After an extremely deep one, Hime went to the doctor's office to make sure there was no detrimental infection. There, she would meet a new primary doctor after her previous one resigned. His name was Ouka Futaoka. A tender and affable doctor, he treated Hime with great compassion, and was quite conversational to the woman, even letting it slip out that her "profession is perfect for a beautiful woman like herself." Ouka learns that Hime is quite a common patient due to all her biting incidents. Ouka continues to be tender towards her, and is always prepared to clean and bandage her wounds, and prescribe her any topical cream necessary (and also pleading for her to invest in tougher arm guards goodness girl!) Eventually, the more Hime visits, the more talkative and off-topic the two slowly get. After one appointment, Hime impulsively goes in for a kiss before leaving the office, saying, "That's for being such a sweet man." Ouka is flustered by the recklessness of it, saying that he could've been a taken man, but Hime says with the way he speaks, she could tell he's not. Ouka laughs and says that she makes a fair point, before returning the kiss back. It, uh, kinda lasts for a while too. What if Ouka's manager just walked in bro. Needless to say, the two start growing close together outside of their professions, and start to hang out as friends and lovers. Also Ouka understands why Hime is constantly at the doctor's now GAWDDAMN THAT WOLF CAN BITE

Both of them turn Void during a Hollow Night after accidentally separating from each other, and thus, were alone roaming the Hollow Night, separated, with no real memories of their past together. After a few Hollow Nights pass, Ouka senses the potency of Hime, and Hime senses Ouka's lack of it. They approach each other, surprised at the odds of the two being at the same place and time as Parasite Voids. Unknowing of their past, they stay close for many other Nights afterwards, attracted to each other's energy and remnants of their souls, as if they fell in love all over again. When the two ventured towards the Abyss, their humanoid forms manifested. A beautiful woman with features of a wolf, and the most tender appearing man. All they could do was stare at each other. Their love was set in stone, and without any words between the two, they began to hold each other by the waist, eyes locked, and danced with no thought at all. All they had was each other's gaze. But their moment of peace, their moment of intimacy was brutally cut off by an attacker. Even as the two defended themselves, they were beaten almost senselessly. The attacker beared a Lab Committee symbol on her coat. Before they knew it, their entire lives were irreversibly changed. They were used, experimented on, and almost broken beyond repair for research, Hime taking the biggest brunt of it all due to more interest in her. Even when they saw windows for escape, they would only be sealed before they could and experimented on again to prevent it from happening again. The Lab Committee saw potential in them, and believed that fusing them together could cancel each other out and essentially kill them, bringing them a step closer to the Void Eradication Plan. However, a human body was needed to contain both Hime and Ouka and prevent any outbreaks or chances of escape. After a man volunteered to take on the Voids, a woman took on the task of injecting both of them inside of him, thus completing the Hime Project. While it appeared successful at first, the man who appeared completely fine slowly degraded hours later, screaming to leave his own body, crying for forgiveness, and for the burns to stop. Eventually, his body no longer existed and was completely absorbed from the inside out, becoming a deformed blob of a typical Parasite Void. The committee could only hear the cries of help, and resealed Hime Project into a vial, never to see the light of day. Several years later, they find themselves able to manifest again, attached to each other and scarred. This time, instead of being in the lab, they were in a home unknown. Regaining consciousness, they look up to see their capturer yet again--no, but wait, this woman...looks different. This wasn't Noriko Watatsumi, instead, this was...

While naturally on the defensive, Nodoka eventually was able to get through to them, though both were still untrusting towards her due to her relation to Noriko. Nodoka assured the both of them would get a host and would be able to live a life where they can find acceptance. Aoki volunteers; even though she knows nothing about Voids due to her lifestyle in Sado, she saw Hime and Ouka and felt that they deserved to not be alone and deserved a shoulder to lean on and immediately decided to host them; at this point, it was no longer about Aoki just wanting to help Nodoka, she wanted to fully befriend these two. While Hime and Ouka was avoidant of Aoki until necessary, Hime would eventually warm up to her first and open up with her true feelings, with some bumps along the way. Ouka, though trying to stay the distant voice of reason, grew a bit jealous at Hime's attention, desiring that exact companionship with the both of them, and especially desiring a human like Aoki to accept him as well. He cracks and humors some of the activities they both do together, until he eventually breaks and says that he wants to open up to Aoki like Hime did but is afraid his real desires and true self will hurt her, and will feel inclined to hurt him and Hime back. He doesn't want to hurt Aoki (the first time he has felt this towards a human,) but doesn't want to get hurt himself. Aoki persistently reassures him, saying "Aw, I'mma bit flattered you don't want to hurt me! But ya don't have to worry, you know? I'd never hurt ya or Hime, I love and accept the both of yall, and that's that. Even if you hurt me, I'mma still be one of the nice ones. I'll just wanna know what's wrong." Ouka tears up, with a smile on his face, commenting on her sedulousness and saying that he is happy she is one of the good humans. Ouka finally feels fully accepted like Hime already felt, and gets the companionship he so desired. This all happens outside of a clothing shop btw. All three grew close (maybe even more than that,) and often do things together and are rarely separate except for work. Imagine being Aoki and seeing that your aggressively chill and supportive attitude makes two people work retail because they want to see more of that in humans. I'd feel happy and bad.

Relationships
"Some people are quite fun to be around with, actually! I'm taking quite the liking to the human realm!"

"I still think Aoki is the best human out of this world, though."

o-oh my!

"Aokiiiiiii! C'mere! ♡"

"Ahh, Aoki. ♡"

They, uh, they like her a lot. And they're very forward in showing it as well. At first was very avoidant with her, but after realizing she genuinely does accept them and has a "lets stuff happen and adjusts accordingly" and a straightforward approach to things, they affectionately cling onto her. Aoki is a lovesick mess, so she eats all of this up. literally just three easygoing autistics in love

"He's pretty fun to be around, even if he doesn't look like it! That cape has to be annoying to wear everywhere, though. He takes it off sometimes, right?"

"An interesting man. Quite passionate about his love for Orikasa, I can relate to that exact passion greatly."

Hime and Ouka (and by extension, Aoki,) are all quite close with the naturalist pair and especially Laos; by all means, they're Hime and Ouka's best friends. While Hime and Ouka are more normal compared to them, they're all still pretty wacky, so they hit it off well.

they all went to the beach one time and it was a disaster. aoki got bit by an eel again and then ruru fed her some fucked up ass shrooms and she was vomiting and laos was just a team player. they all considered it fun though. even aoki. my god they're autistic

"Oh yeah, this is Nodoka's guy, right? Sorry for almost giving you two muscle spasms! You're alright with me now, now that I sniffed ya out!"

"...I appreciate your help. (I feel mocked by his presence. What is his deal.)"

Nothing more but basic chats happen between these three. They're friends but it's nothing special at all. They appreciate that he made them realize Nodoka's intentions though, or else it probably would've ended worse if it was just Nodoka helping Hime and Ouka out solo. Ouka feels something weird about him, especially in appearance, and is oddly territorial, but still considers him a friend nonetheless.

they gotta stop staring autistically at him btw that shit freaks hitoki out so bad (its kind of funny though)

"I don't know what's in the mushrooms, but they're sooooo good! Gimme more of em! Awoo!"

"Very calming presence. I'd like to use those mushrooms for some sort of dish. (She's stubborn giving me mushrooms to use though. A-Am I asking too rudely or something?)"

Close with Laos, so they're close with Ruru by proxy. They like her weird mushrooms, especially Hime, but they kind of make her a little more crazy. They also dig her weird raspy voice. Ouka is a bit disgusted by the fact this chick eats spiders and worm dishes though. Like he can get behind Hime just shoveling some random insect or something in her mouth and just eating it like that but there's something so STRANGE to him about them being used for culinary purposes. He likes Ruru enough to look past it though.

"Very serious and always thinkin' about stuff. A bit pessimistic, but anyone with a good eye and nose can tell he really cares! He's like...OH! He's like if you put Ouka and Hitoki and you like...engh! You know? (Ahaha, I sound ridiculous right now.)"

"He's very relatable...we always seem to have the same feelings on a lot of topics. Understands the importance of solitude and closeness being balanced. Extremely kind as well. He's a guy that I can...really open up to, I think."

Kougami and Hime are not ultra close, but they are friends, and they can definitely count on each other when danger strikes. Kougami shared a grilled sandwich with her once and that was probably one of the most emotional moments for her. There is something so special about sharing food with someone you care about. The real meat here though is definitely Kougami and Ouka's relationship.

Both possess a sort of distant, but trying not to be attitude. Ouka is the anxious one, while Kougami leans towards cynical and pessimistic. However, both also possess an outstanding amount of care in correpondence to these traits, and when they show it to one another it makes them open up to each other more about personal topics. Ouka's pure-heartedness cements Kougami's hope in the world and for Voids, and Kougami's advice makes Ouka less averse to opening up to others that aren't immediately close to him. Ouka vaguely looks up to Kougami since he has long since gotten over his issue with keeping distance from the world to an unhealthy degree. Kougami can't help but shed off some of his cynical attitude with around Hime Project in general, but especially Ouka with how they connect on mundane topics. They are close friends.

"Nodo's a very nice lady and all, and she's the ooonly reason we're here right now. Even knowing that though, I just..."

"...I can't shake the feeling off. I know it's unfair to her, but..."

Both genuinely think Nodoka is a good person at heart and has realized she's not hungry for vengeance like Noriko; she truly is dedicated to making sure Voids, and especially them, have a good and supportive lifestyle. Regardless, the resemblance, the amount of knowledge Nodoka posesses, heck, even the way she smells can remind them of everything they have dealt with until now. They do genuinely want to maybe be around her more, to get rid of that stigma they have [and they do, as the story goes forward. Isn't that nice?]
