Profile
Raylan Vaneda
Basics
Personality
Contrary to Raylan's outwardly upbeat and "positive" demeanour, those who know him well recognize that he is actually quite blunt, antisocial, and apathetic to all but his closest friends. The way one tends to describe his attitude towards the outside world and the plights of strangers is 'detached;' he just doesn't care and literally unplugs himself from the drama-filled internet to keep it all away from him. To Raylan, his weaponsmithing business, passion projects, and his small circle of connections are of far greater importance and worth his investment. He's a stickler for trying to stay on schedule and rarely strays from his project plans, firmly believing in finishing everything he starts no matter how many all-day-ers he has to pull. Raylan rarely asks for help and prefers to rely primarily on himself and his assistant and the kinds of projects he likes to make are typically digital or mechanical in nature. Most of his creations end up being weaponsmithing commissions from the underground rebel group he sells his firearms, tools, and other weapons to since they help finance his over-the-top security system and other passion projects.

Story
Alternia
When Raylan was just a young pupa, he took himself and his lusus across city and countryside alike, looking for the perfect place to settle down, but he could never make a permanent decision. He would try one place for a short time, get tired of it, then move onto a new place. At one point, he had found a comfortable location near the center of one city's 'gutterblood' neighborhood that went on to become his first, real home. Unfortunately, this hive was blown up in an imperial drone strike a few sweeps later. Several perigrees after losing his first home, he eventually made his way back to the same city and traveled to the opposite side of town, finding a comfortable spot in the subgrubs to make his second home. This hive became his final and permanent residence.
Growing up, Raylan didn't like to socalize much with other people, rarely greeted his neighbors, and found much more enjoyment in reading which lead him to eventually find the local bookhive. He frequently rented their books, indulging in all the reading and researching his heart could desire and slowly becoming a familiar 'regular' with the staff there. Raylan was aware very early on what goldbloods like him were fated to become once they came of age, but despite knowing what his future inevitably held, he promised himself to make the most of his life regardless. The majority of his research revolved around machines, robots, weapons, tools, and code in the hopes that he could use the knowledge to build something to help him get off the planet or, at the very least, try to make himself useful as a ship technician instead of a battery.
However, one major concern that plagued Raylan's dreams of eventual escape was his lack of funds. Lowbloods like him didn't receive much income from the government, so he knew he had to come up with some kind of business to make up for the rest of the missing money. One night, while he was out taking a walk to clear his head, a harsh breeze had stolen some of the blueprints he was holding onto and blew them into the air, causing him to chase after them in a frantic sprint. As he followed after them, he ended up bumping into an oddly-dressed troll just as they were entering a hidden passageway that led underground. It took Raylan a second to realize it, but he had accidentally discovered a secret and very illegal anti-imperial rebel base. He was immediately dragged inside and threatened with culling for finding them out, but he pleaded and said he could be of benefit if kept alive.
After retrieving the papers the wind had blown in, he shared his ideas with them and explained he could sell his creations and arm their members with whatever they commissioned from him. His offer convinced them and the deal was made official. While Raylan is not technically an official member of their group, he is closely affiliated with them and unoffically appointed as their main armsdealer and lead cyber security agent. Working closely with the group has allowed him access to a variety of stolen government information which has been helping him keep better tabs on imperial drones, factories, and the government's own security systems. While Raylan wants to see their group succeed and appreciates their funding and support, he is still primarily focused on his own side projects, most especially his plan to escape from Alternia.
Land of Fans and Fog
Raylan’s land is the Land of Fans and Fog (LoFaF). The land can be either peaceful or dangerous depending on where one ventures. Down below in the monster-ridden valleys consumed by fog, the visibility is only a few meters, making it extremely hard to escape from if one were to end up there purposefully or on accident. In stark contrast, LoFaF's upper mountain ranges are breezy and mellow, making these areas the perfect places for gray axolotl consorts to establish their village settlements. Most of them operate wind farms, but many others grow crops, raise livestock, and much more to help support their villages. The terrain is craggy and barren within the valleys while the mountain ranges are steep and feature many sharp cliffs, boulders, and trees. Huge, monolithic fans jut out from the ground, most towering over the rest of the land and others reaching even further up into the sky. Raylan’s mission as the mage of breath in his Sgrub session is to figure out a way to lift the dense fog by finding a way to reactive the fans. In order for him to do this, he would have to figure out the answer to the riddle from his denizen, Typheus. The only hint Raylan has to go off of for solving this riddle is that the answer 'was to be found somewhere in the rich culture of the axolotls.' Raylan would have to first learn about and understand his consorts' lives and history before they could trust him with their sacred knowledge.
The Recreant
The Recreant was a goldblood troll who existed during the time of the Great Rebellion of Alternia. He was known for his sharp mind and genius ideas, learning how to reverse-engineer imperial drones to fight against the Empress after acquiring some top secret blueprints from a rebel spy. He worked closely with other strategists and engineers to construct the new tech for their upcoming rebellion, but he didn't get very far. He and his assosiates were intercepted by a gang of highbloods and were brought to the imperial jail where they were tortured for information. He earned his title as "The Recreant" as a way to immortalize his dishonorable decision to spill all the information he knew about the plot to stage an upcoming rebellion. He was told that this decision would spare him his life to let him to go back and finish his work in secrecy, but it was a lie and he was thrown into an imperial battleship to live out the rest of his life as a battery. The information he provided was invaluable and gave the highbloods a lead for their jadeblood spy to infiltrate and confirm the information before action would be taken to dispel the defectors for good.
