Description

Terry is an extraverted social butterfly who tries his best to remain optimistic despite everything that has happened to him. An energetic, amiable, and bubbly spirit; he loves spreading smiles, mirth, and joy! He retains a boundless sense of exploration, curiosity, and eagerness in whatever he does. His capricious nature shows in his frequently shifting mood and attention. He can be a little irksome, but he always means well, only wanting to socialize and make new friends!

Known Past

Terry was born in a secluded Pokemon-only village with unexplained psychic abilities, definitively not coming from either of his parents, a Leavanny and a Leafeon. He looked up to his brave parents, and they loved him dearly. Unfortunately, Terry was the target for much bullying from kids who treated him as different, likely thanks to his powers. One day, his village was attacked and pillaged, and Terry's parents lost their lives protecting him. With the village in poor condition and the warmth of friends and family gone overnight, he ran away, into the wild. There, he met and became best friends with Will the Mareep.

During the Comic

Three years after meeting Will, the two fluffy friends are attacked by a Magmortar named Brenton but are saved by Archie. In gratitude and just genuinely wanting to join a team, he drags Will into joining Ethan’s team. By far, Terry is the most sociable, friendly, and talkative member on the team, constantly badgering others. Terry has shown time and time again his eagerness to prove himself in battle, but his recklessness has pitted him against several dangerous opponents far stronger than him, such as Apparitions of Groudon and Deoxys. No challenge has hurt more than the Violet Gym battle. Will sacrificing his own life to save Terry’s left the Eevee heartbroken, and although he tries to hide it, he thinks about Will every day, how he could've prevented Will's death, and it weighs on him very heavily. Keeping his spirits and hopes up has been harder than ever, but nevertheless, he continues to try his best to look alive and happy for the team.

Terry manifests his psychic powers in various ways. Most commonly, Terry chooses to form them into a forceful energy blast. He’s very creative.

Light Screen

”A wondrous wall of light is put up to reduce damage from special attacks for five turns.”
Terry focuses his psychic energy into the shape of a barrier to block ranged attacks, although it does little to protect against physical attacks.

Will-O-Wisp

”The user shoots a sinister, bluish white flame at the foe to inflict a burn.”
Terry creates pinkish purple incendiary wisps with his powers. Not even he can explain how he does, but he seems to be more capable of using this move while in anguish.

Brine

”If the target's HP is half or less, this attack will hit with double the power.”
Terry creates water and forcefully launches in a single shot, like a cannonball. He's still getting used to using his powers to create solid material.

Zen Headbutt

”The user focuses its willpower to its head and rams the foe. It may also make the target flinch.”
One strangely often method of attack Terry chooses is forming a shell of psychic energy around him and charging at his target. This often leads him to a worse position though.

Grass Whistle

”The user plays a pleasant melody that lulls the foe into a deep sleep.”
With a technique taught to him by his parents, Terry psychokinetically brushes air against nearby plants to create relaxing, strangely hypnotic music.

The pink of Terry's mane and tail changes with his mood and his psychic output. The more psychic powers he's using and the more intense his emotions, the more saturated his mane becomes.

Terry is the least consistent fighter on Ethan's team, losing two battles and needing to be rescued from combat three times.

According to Q&A 1, Terry wants to evolve into a Leafeon to become more like his father, and his favorite colors are pastel pink and pastel blue because they remind him of cotton candy. Additionally, none of his parents nor grandparents were Psychic types.

Terrence's name comes from "terrier" since it's the first word that came to mind when I encountered him :)
