Description

A minor Legendary Pokémon, Sydaya brings with her mystic wisdom and insight into the world of Johto and beyond. She seems naturally cool, calm, and composed, the whole team pointing to her as the most mature of the team, a badge she wears with silent pride. Her status as a Legendary, her intimidating glare, and the respect she commands lead her to be rather isolated from the team, for the most part.

Known Past

Some time before Ethan met Sydaya, Cresslia entrusted her with a Lunar Wing. Other than that, nothing is known about Sydaya’s past.

During the Comic

Sydaya joined Ethan’s team after briefly testing him upon meeting him at the Ruins of Alph. She joined along with a Lunar Wing. Since joining, Sydaya has imparted information on the mysteries of the world, particularly information on Legendary Pokémon, to the party, and she has served as a formidable training partner, offering advice to Hera. What’s notable is her lack of knowledge on Apparitions.

Ability: Water Veil

Sydaya creates a shell of water around her, keeping burn-causing fires away.

Known Moves

Dragon Breath

"The user exhales a mighty gust that inflicts damage. This may also leave the target with paralysis."
Sydaya manifests her life force into powerful blue energy she can release in streams or bursts.

Overheat

"The user attacks the target at full power. The attack's recoil harshly lowers the user's Sp. Atk stat."
Sydaya unleashes an overwhelming burst of frostflame, burning everything around her with an endothermic energy at the expense of much energy.

Iron Defense

"The user hardens its body's surface like iron, sharply raising its Defense stat."
Sydaya surrounds herself with an icy bastion, rendering many attacks less effective.

Lovely Kiss

”With a scary face, the user tries to force a kiss on the target. If it succeeds, the target falls asleep.”
Sydaya surrounds her target with a mystical energy that quickly plunges them into a slumber. Bird kisses optional.

As of page 28, Sydaya has made appearances in 52 panels across 5 pages: 22-24, 27-28.

Sydaya's design changed on page 26, but she doesn't appear on this page. This design change is reflected only on the team preview, in the header at the top of the page.

Although Sydaya and Joshua were both encountered by their respective trainer at the same location, the Ruins of Alph, neither of them knew each other.

Sydaya’s name comes from the name of a character in an old story of mine.
