Profile
Appearance:
Hysteryx is a orange lion. His dark red manes look full, and protrude from his head and chest. The hair on his head naturally stands upward, as if it resembles a flame. His stomach, his muzzle and the diamond shaped symbols on his elbows and knees have a more beige tone to them. This also goes for this inside of his hands and feet. Hyst is slightly taller than average and has a slender build. The most notable feature on him however, is his eyes. The sclera is dark grey, as yellow irises surrounds his almost flamelike pupils. He also seems to have black markings on the sides of his eyes, which actually, if opened up, are two extra pairs of eyes. His tail is fairly long, with a dark red plume on the end.
Hyst’s clothing style mostly consists of business casual outfits. His usual attire has him wear a blue colbert, that goes with his blue chino. To make sure his stomach is covered, but his chest fur isn’t being compressed, he wears a very low cut white shirt. He wears brown lace-up shoes at his feet. He also usually has some brown bracelets around his wrist.

Personality:
Hysteryx has been taught to manipulate, to mislead and to steal one of the most valuable things from people; their soul. Obviously that won’t reflect well on your personality. Hyst fairly often tries to turn conversations in their favour. He doesn’t necessarily likes to talk about himself, but he does try to make himself look better than he is, and he hates to be talked bad about. Hyst is also a slacker, trying to do the least work he can do, but still sufficient enough to make sure nobody comments about it. He’d rather do nothing than do something at all. Hyst has learned he could get anything by persuading, so his nature tends to be manipulative, people aren’t just people with feelings, they always have something to offer. Usually this could be seen as a positive aspect, however Hyst has learned that this ‘something’ that is being offered can always be used by him, which he has learned to always try to do.
That doesn’t mean that he hasn’t been able to change his ways. Partially by his environment, but equal parts because of his lazy nature, he has been practicing with trying to ‘unlearn’ his behaviour of always making use of people. The people around him are allowed to be free willed, if they just don’t get too much in his way. He’s actually noticed that things that aren’t in his complete control can have interesting and amusing results. By studying his newly attained friends, he is seeing now that having company around can actually be fun. It is something he had never really thought of before, so now with it being set in new light, he enjoys people around him, even if it is not business related.
Even though Hyst has been set up for a path of darkness and evil, Hyst strangely keeps ending up at the side of good. Hyst is still unsure if this is because of pure luck, because of his lazy behaviour, or because there might be an actual intent of doing good. His deals always include actual positive favours for the people signing his contracts, and he usually only picks people that he is sure of they see no other way out. If pushed in the right way, he might leave his set path behind, and pick a new, lighter one.
Abilities:
General:
Hysteryx fully relies on his special powers that he has attained from his demon lineage. Both his mother and father are demons from different families, giving him a combination of demonic abilities
Special abilities:
First of all, his most prominent ability is that he can create illusions. He can do this in two ways. Either he bends the light around him, creating visual illusions for everyone around him, or he can individually mess with someone’s head to make them see something he wants them to see. The first form of illusion manipulation is way more limiting. He usually uses this to just cloak himself in his surroundings. The second form is marginally more effective, as well as dangerous, to a point where if the illusions seem real enough for the person, they might get actually hurt.
From the other side of the family, Hyst has gained the ability to manipulate fire. He can create fire out of seemingly nowhere, or control already existing fire. Hyst has several years in experience in controlling this ability, making it an effective combat skill.
His demon heritage also brings him his demon forms.
The first form comes from his mother’s line. Hyst can turn himself into a small cat/scorpion hybrid. His form mostly looks orange with some dark red accents. He gains several extra eyes that all leak a yellow, thick substance. His tail is a scorpion tail. He frequently uses this forms in his illusions, as it tends to freak people out if he plays it right.
The second form comes from his father’s line, and is a bit more dangerous to use. Hyst has the ability to turn into a beast like version of himself, his fur becoming more full, his teeth becoming gruesomely large and his build becoming extremely broad. It is something he still doesn’t seem to be able to control very well, so he cautiously avoids using it at all costs.
Strengths:
-Very charismatic
-Can hide himself in plain sight
-Always knows a guy
Weaknesses:
-Untrustworthy
-Can come off as arrogant and stand-offish
-Thinks he can handle everything himself
Social relations:
Rhyss Frolig: One day, Rhyss met Hyst while he was on the look for a soul to reap. Hyst had a conversation with him, and quickly realized that Rhyss had no real reason to sell his soul, which was fine, yet still weird. His instincts would usually find Hyst a person that he would need. This in turn made him think. Maybe his instincts told him to find Rhyss for some other reason, which is why he tried to keep in contact with him. They are now friends. Hyst is often invited to hang with his friend group, which he sometimes accepts, and sometimes refuses because he's ‘busy’. Hyst finds Rhyss enjoyable to be around, however his optimism can sometimes annoy him, seeing as he himself is in a way different boat than Rhyss. He’s still trying to find out why he would need him for anything.

Alina Marilayra: Alina, being someone who can identify when people are lying, is not a fan of Hyst. Her head can sometimes go haywire whenever he’s around, seeing as he lies frequently. Hyst in turn has realized Alina is most sceptic of him, and likes to tease her sometimes. Even though he might be annoying to her frequently, Alina is probably the one that has had the most heartfelt conversations with him. Seeing as they’re both on opposite sides of the charismatic spectrum. Hyst hopes the best for Alina, and will probably try and make sure that that happens in some sneaky ways if he has to.

Abby Quenevere: One a very avid fan of the law, the other quite the opposite, Abby and Hyst somehow click in a way they both wouldn’t expect. At the beginning, they both thought of each other as egocentric, narcissistic people. After a while though, they seemed to have bonded. Maybe because they’re both seen as the ‘extras’ in a friend group, or maybe because they both realized their self-loving behaviour comes from insecurity. Either way they’re buddies now. Hopefully Abby doesn’t find out Hyst is a criminal hahaha.

Derek Quenevere, Katie Briggs and Luka Frolig: The others of the friend group are glad Hyst is sometimes around. He brings a different atmosphere to the group sometimes, which can be appreciated in a group that can sometimes be very much the same every time. Still, they are obviously not immune to Hyst’s interesting personality. This group is about forgiveness though, so they’re okay with it.

History:
Born as a demon twin, Hysteryx had the luck of being the better one, which can be quite enjoyable when you’re in a world where the people around you try to turn you into an employable asset as quick as possible. Hysteryx has been trained to become soul supplier for the demon bat mafia, since his family apparently still had a debt there, at least that’s what was told to him.
Hysteryx seemed to be a great student, easily picking up strategies, thinking of new ones, and using them to get souls from mortals. He started young in the business, trying to get people to sell their soul to him. He was very good at it, being one of the more ‘profitable’ soul suppliers. This went on for a couple of years. Things were going great for him. He enjoyed it. He didn’t care about the people that gave him their soul, he didn’t care what happened to them and honestly he just cared about being the best around, which he was slowly becoming.
He and his brother never really got along well. Delirim was too ‘raw’ for Hysteryx’ taste. He in turn was too ‘boring’ in Delirim’s eyes. There was one point they could share views with, and that was that their family were little shits for just leaving them behind to pay off some ‘debt’. One day however, Delirim found out that his family didn’t actually had to pay off any debt. The two thought they were in no way related to the bat family, but it seemed like they actually were. This meant that they were actually supposed to be higher up the chan of command, instead of being at the absolute bottom. Hysteryx despised that idea, but eventually realised that his brother wouldn’t lie about it. He thought that the best thing he could become was a small demon guy, trying to get by with trickery and deceit, instead Hyst had been tricked all his life.
This plummeted him in a behaviour that said ‘fuck it’ to his boss. Obviously he couldn’t actually say that to the demon bat mafia boss; he’d hang for that. Instead he just became lazy. He tried to do as less work as possible, just to not get noticed. He didn’t want to be the best anymore. He deserved better. He shouldn’t have to work hard. The last couple of years he has been dodging his way through his job. Doing less with his job gave him time to study up on how things actually worked. It appears that people that sell their soul still have a whole lot of suffering to do. Hyst thought that sucked, so he instead tried to twist the system in a way that people who would sell their soul in return for ‘a wish’, he’d actually make that wish a good wish, one that that person could profit from in the end. Hyst somehow seemed to find this enjoyable. Partially because he could stick it to his employers, but partially because it legitimately felt good to him.
One day he met Rhyss. His demonic instincts told him that Hyst needed him for some reason. He had always used this instinct to find proper people to buy souls from, however this time, he found that this person didn’t want to sell his soul at all! It seems that he just wanted to be friends. This amused Hyst, who was amazed by Rhyss’ naivety and unconditional optimism. They became friends, partially because the Bittersweet band needed someone experienced with wind instruments, and partially just because it clicked! Hyst has been part of the crew since then, and occasionally joins the group in their hijinks. Next to selling souls, he now actually has something fun to do on the side. Maybe the future has more fun for him in store.
