Mousie showed up on the doorstep of the Golden Colubrids when he was six, literally right after Luke had established it.
He didn't say much, just that he needed somewhere to go, and he oddly resembled Luke's aunt.
How could Luke refuse? 

None of the Golden Colubrids know Mousie's real name for the first year, and none of them were sure if he could even speak in full sentences.
Turned out he was Nalia's son, and the son of Sterling Diodato. Hence why he has to hide his identity. Lenny would probably kill him if he knew who his father was.
Sterling found out when Mousie was about 8, and his heart melted, immediately adoring his son and treating him as such. He offered to bring him back to Washington if he wanted, but Mousie had grown quite fond of the GC.
He still gets visits from his dad when they're in the area. Always sneakily though as to lower the chance of Lenny catching on.
His cousins now know about him on both sides, and Jesse is very protective of him.

Sergio wasn't terribly perceptive of this at first. He believed Mousie to be the son of a drug addict who'd been dropped on Luke's doorstep.
So when Mousie complained of constant, body-wide pain, he brushed him off, telling him he was just the son of an addict, trying to get a pain killer fix.
This led Mousie to swipe pills and bring them to a Draki drug dealer to crush them up and make them into new tablets for his height and weight.
He was very careful about the tolerance, but Sergio eventually caught him with them, and shouted him down, telling him he knew he was right, and that his mother was a filthy drug addict.
That caused Mousie to break, screeching at him to not talk about Nalia like that and stabbing him in the leg-
Sergio's eyes went huge and filled with recognition as Mousie threw his pain killers in his face and ran off. After two days of constant pain, Sergio finally came by the GC, apologized, and prescribed him some pain killers.
Mousie has fibromyalgia, though up until 1987, it wasn't recognized by that name, it was called Fibrositis

He has a younger brother named Aurum, and a younger sister named Lile. He adores both, and can often be seen walking around with Aurum holding onto his sleeve.

His writing skills and drawing skills are both exceptional, creating drawings out of words using pen and making them even look relatively life-like.
Mousie may not speak much, but his English has always been exceptional, especially for someone his age. When Connie joined them he was excited to be able to teach him how to read and write English. Connie was a bit embarrassed to be learning from an eight year old, but got over it quickly once he saw what Mousie was capable of.

Mousie takes notes and minutes on any of the plans made and meetings held under the Colubrids' roof, kind of like a secretary.
He also draws up sketches of blueprints, being really good with memorization of that kind of thing.
Otherwise, he helps the other kids and teens in the tenements with their English homework, and eventually becomes a bit of an artist.
