Story:
Childhood:
Corydon Somnium was the firstborn child of Cessa Somnium and Rem Sanae. At the time he was born, Cessa and Rem were in a rough patch financially. The two were often stressed and Cessa was absent often making money for his family. As an infant, Corydon was cared for mostly by his mother, he grew very attached to her. Once Corydon was two years old, his younger sister, Spook Somnium, was born. Corydon felt resentful towards Spook, both because as an infant she needed much of her mother's attention, and because he understood that his parents didn't have enough money to support a family of four. Corydon would listen to his mother rant about her father (Corydon's grandfather), Ethan Sanae, who was wealthy enough to support them and had chosen instead to ignore and neglect them. Rem showed Corydon many meaningful places and items from her happier past, including the place which had meant the most to her, a desolate shed in the woods where his father had apparently spent his childhood. It was also the place where Cessa and Rem had fallen in love. When Corydon reached the age of three years old, he first discovered his ability to Dreamleap, which had been passed down to him through hereditary means. Rem seemed especially enthusiastic about helping Corydon learn about and spend time in the realities. Cessa and Rem went through Corydon's reality, removing every possible threat to ensure his safety. Corydon's reality took the form of a massive jungle island, it had been subconsciously shaped based off of movies he and Rem would watch. Notable dreams and nightmares Corydon had include: A massive sea serpent which guarded the ocean, if Corydon remained on the beach for too long the monster would sense his presence and lunge out of the water in an attempt to eat him. A massive crocodile which lived in a marsh, it would attempt to ambush and eat Corydon if he approached the marsh too closely. A temple full of cultists who worshiped him, they were twisted and evil, making sacrifices that terrified the young Corydon. Once Corydon reached the age of 4, he had heard from his mother that Ethan had suffered a stroke. She left for the hospital, Cessa returned home from work while she was gone. When Rem returned, she demanded to talk to Cessa upstairs.
He heard shouting and yelling before seeing his mother storm out of the room in fury, lashing out at him and Spook. Spook slipped out when no one was looking, Corydon was terrified at this new side of his mother who had been so kind and caring. Rem fled her home, leaving Cessa and Corydon behind to wallow in sorrow. Cessa told Corydon he would look for Rem in his realities, he slept for hours, Corydon grew more and more tense with worry. Remembering Rem's favorite place to go and think, he silently left the house in an attempt to bring her home. He found the shack, his mother was inside, he heard her ranting and crying to herself. He slowly opened the door, saddened and afraid of his mother who immediately noticed his presence. She took him and tied him up, ignoring his cries for her to stop. He felt heartbroken as the person he trusted and loved abandoned him. She left him in the shed, claiming she had unfinished business. She returned even more furious than when she left, she took him to a secluded location, a hidden bunker purchased by the late Ethan Sanae who had been paranoid of the threat of war. There they would enter the realities, he would be kept hidden within his reality for the remainder of his childhood. His reality was one of the few that allowed him to age, though eating was not a requirement for survival in his reality. Rem would come to check on him regularly, acting like a different person.

Teenage Years:
In his early teenage years, Corydon spent his time wasting away in his reality. Years of intense fear and boredom took a toll on his mental health. He found himself constantly reflecting on his past life, wishing that things had gone differently. As he hid, an unseen monster attempted to break into his hiding place and kill him, he heard multiple ghostly voices wailing at once as it tried to tear him to shreds. The hiding place proved too stable for the monster to break through, leading it to leave and return on a regular basis. Eventually his mother returned to his hiding place, she wasn't alone. She introduced him to a monster who towered over them both, a being of her design. She called it Tresn, whom she claimed had purpose for him. Corydon was taken to the remains of Rem's reality, which had been torn to shreds. He was taken to a theater underground, where he was introduced to the one who would torture him for years to come. The Puppeteer, who would refer to him simply as "Jester", had the ability to control other beings with bright orange strings provided they had a nervous system. Corydon would be held prisoner as his puppet, a puppet who The Puppeteer was incredibly rough and blunt with while puppeting. Rem would often watch as he was tugged violently, his bones would break over time, his joints would grow dislocated. Eventually, Rem would have Tresn make alterations to Corydon in order to silence his screams, Tresn would protest against this, claiming that they were therapeutic and drowned out The Puppeteer's annoying laughter. In the end, Cirem's demands pulled through and Tresn got to work. He fashioned Corydon an outfit to match The Puppeteer's. He stitched Corydon's mouth shut and took the liberty of removing his eyes, which he claimed would be useful for his machines used for trying to hunt down Cessa and Spook. It was then where Corydon lost his individuality and became Jester. Jester's thoughts would crumble over the painful years of torture, he silently went mad under the horrible and intense pain. Rem's reality made it much harder for someone to die, broken bones and twisted limbs wouldn't be enough to end Jester's suffering.

Early Adulthood (Pre Twisted Reality):
Many of Jester's days were the same, Jester lacked any concept of time. All he could do was listen and wait until the day where someday he would die. He was occasionally visited by Cirem and Tresn, none of it made any difference to him. There was an occasion where he, The Puppeteer and Tresn were attacked by the monster that had tormented Corydon for years in his reality, Jester would never see what it looked like, even if it had killed him it made no difference to him. There were times where his father attempted to rescue him, Jester just wanted to die. The events that happened around him never changed anything for him, they never truly would.
