Profile

Personality:
Denver is very silent and thoughtful, over time he has developed a strong loyalty towards his companions. Denver is often the neutral ground within conflicts among his allies and neutralizes bad situations with ease due to his patience and imposing size. Due to his previously suppressed violent nature, Denver can have spouts of anger from time to time, he normally directs these fits of rage at inanimate objects when no one can see. Denver has a need to keep a good reputation, oddly enough he is very self aware for a giant haunted oak tree. He can tell if he is liked or not and who fears him, he is not shy to approach and befriend.

Abilities and Capabilities:
Denver is a massive haunted oak tree. His roots function as both arms and legs, used for crawling, scratching, stabbing, slashing, grabbing, digging, moving, etc. When moving in clustered forests, Denver is capable of knocking over other trees to make room. Oddly enough, he doesn't leave too much of a mess behind him when he moves around. Denver has no need to eat or sleep, in order to survive he needs to bask in the light of the moon in Cessa's reality. If separated for too long, he begins to rot. Denver's top movement speed is an estimated 35 miles per hour. Denver has the capacity to understand human speech, he lacks the ability to speak or communicate in any form aside from simple gestures.

Story:
Early Life:
Denver originates from the mind of Cessa Somnium. Denver's first memory was of a dark forest, a small figure ran among the trees. Denver's purpose upon conception was to kill the figure who fled in the forest, the young Cessa Somnium. Denver violently and savagely tore through the forest in an attempt to kill the boy. Ultimately, Cessa would escape. He would find a tight and secure location to hide himself, a hidden hatch leading to a secure compartment far too small for Denver to fit through. Frustrated and lacking purpose in life aside from killing the young boy, Denver wandered the empty realm of Cessa's reality. Eventually, he would stumble upon The Gateway. The expanse was much larger than that of Cessa's reality, it was entirely devoid of life. For years Denver would search for the boy who he had to kill, entering and exiting The Gateway in his crazed search. If Denver thought he heard a sound, he would pursue until he was certain his target was either dead or long gone. Denver would encounter Cessa several more times over the coming years, each time Cessa would escape, sometimes he would be accompanied by Rem Sanae, who herself narrowly escaped Denver's reach. Denver would constantly feel as though there were other creatures like him near, yet he would never get a glimpse of any of them. On one occasion Denver would completely flatten a metallic contraption covered in fabric and spines after it had snapped a clamp contraption on one of his branches.

Later Years (Pre Twisted Reality):
Denver would catch sight of Cessa Somnium once again within Cessa's reality. Upon trying to chase him down, he was led into a trap that had been set by Cessa. Cessa had planted a device of his own design onto Denver's body. This device would remain latched onto Denver until Cessa decided the time would be right to remove it. The device would inject a non-lethal toxin into Denver's body that would severely weaken him. The injector would be used as punishment during Cessa's trials to try and erase the objective in Denver's mind, to kill Cessa Somnium. Cessa had been deeply studying the behaviour of natives to the Contingentplane, he had determined that upon birth, each creature had a set task or personality trait which would define them. When given time to grow and change, their true personalities would shine through. Cessa would attempt and succeed to erase Denver's task through therapy and pavlovian conditioning. Denver would be encouraged to spare the lives of innocent creatures and rewarded for doing so. Once he had been repurposed, Denver was content with his existence, no longer living to complete a goal, no longer hateful and brute. Denver would assist Cessa in his mission to reclaim his lost family. Due to his massive size and destructive potential, Denver was mostly assigned defensive roles. Denver would remain in wait by the entrance from The Gateway into Cessa's reality, watching for danger or notable occurrences. Denver would eventually catch sight of a four-armed monster who attempted to enter Cessa's reality before noticing Denver and fleeing. Denver gave chase to no avail. It would attempt to enter several more times, each time Denver would try and fail to capture or kill it. Eventually Cessa would devise more plans to capture more creatures just like Denver, creatures born with a need to kill. First he would contain and repurpose Scythe, a large bipedal creature with long sharp claws which moved with incredible speed. Scythe was very friendly towards Denver, the two would spend their moments of leisure together in the moonlight. Next Cessa contained Wrath, an undead deer with a horrible temper who did not take kindly to him or Scythe. Wrath seemed to know that she could not harm Denver, she would avoid him outright and require much of Cessa's attention due to the rotting state of her body. The final creature who Cessa would try to repurpose was Totemgeist, a creature who appeared all too mysteriously and was repurposed all too easily. Denver kept watch of the totem when he could, not liking the way it constantly eyed Cessa. The four armed monster who Cessa would learn was named Tresn, continued to make appearances and attack the likes of Wrath and Scythe. Denver never encountered Tresn often, suspecting that Tresn feared him. Denver would be introduced to yet another creature, one who Cessa had deliberately created by manipulating the laws of the Contingentplane itself. Her name was Bringer, she would be tasked with scouting and waiting in The Gateway for the opportune moment to retrieve any of Cessa's lost family: Spook Somnium, Corydon Somnium and Rem Sanae.
