Throughout Arianwyn's entire life, she has been constantly reminded of her destined greatness. The tales of her heroic parents and the revered values of the Mage Order have instilled in her the belief that she will become a formidable Mage, a distinguished academic, and a renowned hero. Supported with unwavering dedication in honor of her parents' sacrifice, she carries the weight of their legacy upon her shoulders. Given every possible advantage and presented with numerous opportunities, Arianwyn is wholeheartedly driven to succeed in every challenge that comes her way. Unlike others who might rest on the laurels of their wealth and social status, she instead places even greater pressure on herself to excel. Ambitious, success-oriented, and petrified of failure, she confronts challenges with ferocity and tackles them head-on. This drive makes her exceptionally hard-working as she strives to step out of the shadow cast by her illustrious parents and forge her own path.

Raised in a world of absolutes, where patriotism for the Mage Order and devotion to the memory of her fallen parents is paramount, Arianwyn is fiercely idealistic. She views the Order's goals as inherently righteous and deems service to Namarast as a sacred duty. Rarely does she pause to question or contemplate orders given to her, and she struggles to comprehend the perspectives of those who disagree with her. While some of this steadfastness stems from indoctrination since childhood, there is also a self-protective aspect to her unwavering beliefs. Terrified of being wrong, she clings to the Order's goals as a shield against her own self-doubt. Finding solace in the company of like-minded individuals who share her morals, she reacts with an almost irrational anger when her views are challenged or undermined. Her reputation holds great importance to her, and she perceives any challenges as an affront to her sense of self. Although she is headstrong and stubborn, these qualities are balanced by her unyielding determination and devotion, making her an intensely loyal classmate, friend, apprentice, and Mage. [wc: 331]

Story

From the moment of her birth, Arianwyn's path appeared predetermined. She was the cherished and only child of two formidable and esteemed mages within the Order. How could she be destined for anything other than greatness? Her father, a respected professor in Namarast, and her mother, a revered battle mage of her time turned academy advisor, set a lofty standard for their daughter to follow. Born into a world of magic and social influence, it seemed inevitable that Arianwyn would walk in their illustrious footsteps and forge her own remarkable legacy. Growing up, she reveled in a life brimming with opportunities, nurtured by the unwavering support of her beloved parents.

However, everything changed with the attack. Arianwyn was shielded from the gruesome details, the truth carefully concealed to spare her from the horrors of that fateful day. She was informed of an assault on the school, and her valiant parents had perished defending the young mages under their care. They had fallen as heroes, leaving behind a formidable reputation for their young daughter to uphold.

Arianwyn was entrusted to the care of a trusted family friend, an esteemed academic of similar stature, and bequeathed a substantial inheritance to fund her education until she could assume control of her parents' estate. Every day, her new guardian regaled her with tales of her parents' triumphs and the Order's legendary exploits across Ivras. These accounts became her cherished treasures, for she had been too young to truly know her parents before their untimely demise. At the academy, she was celebrated as the child of the valiant Runeguards, the only daughter of heroic lineage. The weight of her parents' legacy bore down on her, and her progress was scrutinized with lofty expectations. For the daughter of heroes, no expense was spared to ensure her success.

Aware of the immense pressure and expectations placed upon her, Arianwyn excelled in her studies. She had everything she could have ever desired—success, acclaim, unwavering support. She breezed through her training stages at a remarkable pace, graduating as one of the youngest and swiftly apprenticing under an experienced battle mage and trusted advisor. Yet, even in the face of these achievements, Arianwyn yearned for more. The sheltered life of political maneuvering and battle strategies grew monotonous. While the future leadership role seemed predestined, she longed for excitement, thrill, and the honor that comes with victory on the battlefield. Although she presently lives a sheltered existence in Namarast, Arianwyn seeks opportunities to venture beyond, to seek experiences that would further enhance her family name's prestige on the glorious fields of battle as a Mage Protector. Arianwyn's magic runs, quite literally, in her blood. Where the hemoglobin of most creatures relies on iron, hers instead uses silver. As a result, her blood runs blue, and she has an innate power over argent within her vicinity.

At her current level of magic, the power that Arianwyn is modest, though she dreams of perfecting her silvercraft. She possesses a natural connection with elemental silver, and is able to telekinetically manipulate it's form at will. While she is still young and relatively inexpereinced, she can manipulate small amounts of silver to make modest trinkets and tools. Her creations cannot be too complex; she can form objects with no moving parts with ease such as small daggers, hammers, or simple jewelry. She can also making objects with simple hinges, such as lockets, though this takes considerable effort. She has recently increased her finnesse, allowing her to create more detailed objects such as chains, up to two gears, and stronger weaponry. She can also create small battery-like devices: gears can rotate on their own, or a lever can flip back and forth in a rhythm. This effect lasts up to five minutes at a time. Items with complex forms such filligree are beyond her current abilities.

Arianwyn is also able to sense the presence of silver in her vicinity. She has an acute awareness of it's location, weight, and any other metals or materials with which the element is mixed.

As a result of the antimicrobial properties of the silver in her veins, she is also highly resistant to illness and infection.

Costs

  • Magic use consumes a valuable material. Arianwyn's body relies on silver to function, but her magic consumes it. As such, in order to stay alive, she must supplement her diet with silver ore. Otherwise, her blood will cease to function and she will becomes extremely weak.
  • Magic permanently alters, stops, or replaces an essential function of the caster's body. Arianwyn suffers from poor circulation as a result of her silvered blood, which is less effective and transporting oxygen. She becomes fatigued easily, and often suffers migraines when she exerts herself.
  • Magic use reduces the caster's mobility or reflexes. As Arianwyn has focused on amplifying her magical abilities without the appropriote time practice to build the stamina, her magic now requires increased mental focus. Her reflexes are impaired when manipulating silver as she cannot pay attention to both her magic and threats around her.
