- Both him and his brother Fredrick were adopted by their uncle, Maxwell, and his wife, Edith, after their mother ran off to another country alongside their abusive stepfather. Rosalie is their adoptive sister.

- Very socially awkward. He's autistic and very deadpan, so he often comes across as stiff. It's difficult to tell when he's being sarcastic. Somehow, he's excellent at psychoanalyzing people and terrible at actually interacting with them. Usually, he means well.

-Has a nihilistic and somewhat cynical worldview. Despite being a bit of an edgelord, he's a lot more naive than he thinks he is. He had a really bad angsty phase as a teenager, and his signature turtlenecks used to be exclusively black. He's branched out to other colours now.

- Interested in geology. Specifically, he knows a ton about a mineral that absorbs magic, called sorberium.  He can talk about it for hours.
