| Personality: Nee'Yah is like most harpies. She's avoidant, skittish, more willing to give up than waste energy or her life fighting a pointless fight that she can't win or for which the prize isn't worth it. A lingering scavenger than an active hunter, although she's more than able if she needs to be one, this harpy tends to keep her distance from those who enter her domain. Only striking out when the odds are in her favor such as if her target is alone and not paying attention. Even still, rarely will she actually risk a fight to the death unless that is the only option. Instead opting for shows of power such as a lot of hissing, screeching, and fluffing herself up to look larger than she is if she must try and scare someone away and hit and run tactics if such a show isn't an option. However, like the rest of her kind, Nee'Yah has a weakness for things such as trinkets and baubles. While she might not know the purpose of something like a golden necklace or some sapphire inlaid shrine? That won't stop her from coveting such things should they find themselves in her presence. Although, it is in this that Nee'Yah shows an exception in herself in compared to others of her kind in that she seems to grasp the concept of bartering and, should she find it safe to do so, it isn't uncommon to see this creature throwing a few pieces of gold from her talons in the direction of an interloper in exchange for something with a vivid shine and incandescent blue sheen. Habits: • Nee'Yah prefers to observe certain things from the ground rather than the air. When she sees people traveling through her territory it isn't uncommon for her to flit around from cover to cover and observe and study from a distance but close enough to listen and learn. • Nee'Yah has a habit of pulling out spikes used to secure ropes to mountain sides; although she only enjoys doing this when she knows something is using them to climb. Fears: • Death • Fire • Natural predators • Older harpies • Adventuring parties Likes: • Gold • Silver • Jewels • And other shiny things • Raw meat; rabbit meat in particular • Clear skies Dislikes: • Rainy days and nights • Lightning • Adventurers • Others of her kind outside the mating season Pet Peeves: • Nee'Yah hates anyone who enters her territory or approaches her nest Mental Health Issues: None Speech Patterns: Harpies don't have a language of their own, however, they seem to be able to not only mimic any voice they hear but they show an ability to understand whatever it is that they heard and choose to repeat back. While Harpies can force themselves to mirror sounds they heard in their own "voice" they are far more likely to speak in the voice they heard speak. For example, while Nee'Yah can understand a question such as "What are you?" and respond if she knows an appropriate response? It isn't uncommon to hear either one or several different individuals 'answer back'. |
