Gabrielle "Gabe" Norwood
Timid, shy and a bit of a shut-in, Gabe is a daughter of a famous witch. Living in her mother's shadow, she feels burdened by her family name, as it comes with great many expectations.
When she found herself cursed, yet survived the encounter, she slowly starts to open up both to the succubus sent to kill her, but also the outside world she has hidden from for so long.
Personality
Gabe's general demeanor is anxious and distant, and she stutters a lot. She's perfectionistic and often too hard on herself. Gabe is very timid and shy, and often keeps to herself. She usually avoids social interactions if possible, and prefers staying at home in her cottage in the middle of a forest. She does try to push herself out of her comfort zone at times.
Even though she's quiet, she's very polite. It may take a while until you'll be able to get to know her – she needs her time to be able to trust and be comfortable around you – but once you do, she's very sweet and excitable. She loves talking about things she loves, like nature and witchcraft.
Backstory
Gabe was born in autumn to her mother, a well-known witch named Belladonna "Bella" Norwood who was 27. They lived in a town called Crowbog. Bella was very protective of her daughter, always making sure she's safe and happy. Gabe was very cheerful and happy kid and loved nature, and animals. They even had two housecats, Helge and Sabrina and Gabe absolutely loved them both. Gabe was also interested in magical beings, mostly demons, as her mother often told her about them. Gabe would spend hours wandering in nature or learning about it. She often loved telling her mother and other people about the things she had learned.
Gabe was interested in spellcasting and wanted to specialize in it. However, she was really bad with spells and ended up botching most of them. She was very embarrassed, but Bella always kept encouraging her. Gabe also practiced making potions, as her mother specialized in those. Gabe was actually very good with potions, but always hoped she could become a spellcaster one day.
However, Gabe's personality changed when she started school. She was bullied a lot for many reasons, mostly for her stuttering. Gabe also grew up believing she was an elf, and therefore everyone else also thought she was an elf – Only Bella knew she was actually a half-elf. So, Gabe got bullied for her appearance, too. Elves thought her ears were too short, while humans thought her ears were too pointy. And since Gabe loved reading and was interested in learning new things, she was seen as a nerd. Gabe became very socially anxious and self-conscious about many things. Bella decided to homeschool Gabe for a while, and Gabe returned to school again at the age of 10.
Gabe was usually very lonely and didn't really have any friends, but at the age of 12 she became friends with an elf witch Ayla Royra who was a year older. Ayla was a bit of a troublemaker, but they managed to make Gabe's bullies leave her alone. They became good friends, and Gabe felt happy with Ayla as they liked Gabe the way she was. Eventually Gabe developed a huge crush on Ayla. She decided to cut her hair very short to look cool in Ayla's eyes and as a symbol of sorts for her realization that she was a lesbian. Gabe never told Ayla she had a crush on them though. Sadly, Ayla had to move away at the age of 16 as her parents wanted to start a new career in another town. The two lost touch.
Gabe was very upset after that, especially because Bella's two cats had passed away recently, and she felt like everything bad was happening at once. Bella felt bad, and when Gabe's 16th birthday came up, she surprised her daughter with a black kitten of her own. Gabe was very excited and decided to name the kitten Helga after Bella's cat Helge. Gabe and Helga formed a familiar bond, meaning that Gabe gave Helga a portion of her witch power to make her sentient and also heighten her senses and lifespan. Helga has been a loyal companion to Gabe ever since.
Unfortunately, Bella's condition started getting bad, and she realized she had the same incurable illness her father and Gabe's grandfather had had. Gabe had planned to go study spellcasting, but she dropped her plans to help her mother out. Bella tried to encourage Gabe to go study instead, but Gabe didn't want to leave her ill mother all alone. She worked hard, took care of Bella's potions and selling them, and even tried making potions for Bella's illness. No matter how hard she tried, Bella passed away at the age of 45 while Gabe was 18. Gabe was devastated but decided to continue in her mother's footsteps as Bella was very well-known for her healing potions and many wanted to still buy those. So, Gabe took care of Bella's business after her death.
Seven years after Bella's death, Gabe now being 25, she was cursed by a rival witch to have a demon sent after her. The curse was botched, however, and the demon happened to be a succubus named Lady Risyss. Because of the failed curse spell, Risyss didn't have the necessity to kill Gabe. The two were instantly attracted to each other and started to get to know each other better. They even made a soul contract which means that Risyss is bound to the land of the living as long as Gabe is alive, and after she dies her soul belongs to Risyss and she can decide what to do with it.
Gabe soon met a couple of Risyss' demon friends, and one of them, Yserlith, used to be a close friend of Bella. Yserlith told Gabe about how before she was born Bella tried to mend the relationship between witches and demons which had gotten worse over the years, and Gabe thought she should continue this legacy of her mother as well – especially since she was now dating a succubus. Yserlith also told Gabe about her other mother, Aria Cromwell. It turned out that Bella was in relationship with a human witch and they were planning on raising Gabe together, but they had decided to cut ties for some time as they heard about the killing of another gay witch. Bella hadn't told Gabe anything about Aria to keep her safe. It was only now that Gabe learned that she was actually a half-elf instead of an elf. Gabe was understandably very shocked and decided that she wanted to find her other mother.
Through some investigating she found out that Aria lived in a town called Sleethill, which was a secluded town for witches of minority groups. Aria couldn't help but cry after finally meeting her daughter after 25 years. She was also happy to meet Helga and Risyss, and all of them started bonding very fast. Gabe also managed to reconnect with Ayla, as they had also moved to Sleethill.
Right now, Gabe and Risyss are focused on their mission to mend the relationship between demons and witches.
Relationships
Lady Risyss is Gabe's girlfriend. They met when Gabe was cursed by a rival witch to have a demon sent after her, but the curse spell was botched and Risyss didn't have the need to kill Gabe.
Gabe was immediately attracted to Risyss, and the two of them quickly fell in love after their first meeting and have started to get to know each other better and closer ever since. They even made a soul contract which means that Risyss is bound to the land of the living as long as Gabe is alive, and after she dies her soul belongs to Risyss and she can decide what to do with it. Right now Risyss plans on keeping Gabe around in the Underworld, too.
The more Gabe learns about Risyss, the more she falls in love with her, as Risyss isn't just a pretty and powerful succubus, but a very caring person too. Despite Risyss being very intelligent and sophisticated, the succubus is very confused about her new feelings that have come during their relationship – like jealousy – and Gabe does her best to make Risyss understand her emotions and the land of the living she's now bound to because of their contract.
Risyss is Gabe's first girlfriend, as Gabe has only had a crush on someone before, but she has never been in a relationship before. Despite their closeness, Gabe often likes to address Risyss with formal and respecting terms, like ma'am or mistress.
Helga is Gabe's familiar, meaning the two have a magical bond as Helga has been given small portion of Gabe's witch power to heighten her senses, intelligence and lifespan. Helga is technically Gabe's pet, but as she's sentient she doesn't like being seen as a pet cat.
Gabe got Helga as a present on her 16th birthday from her mother Bella. Helga has been a valuable companion for Gabe ever since, as Gabe had been very lonely after her childhood best friend had moved away from Crowbog. Helga was especially important to Gabe after the death of Bella, and Helga did her best to make Gabe feel better.
The two are often together, and enjoy walking through forests. Helga is also a bit protective of Gabe, as she prefers sleeping near her and is cautious of people she doesn't know and see as a threat towards Gabe. Helga loves sitting on laps and being petted, and Gabe is always happy to pet her and let her sit on her lap. The two are inseparable.
Bella Norwood is Gabe's mother, and Bella raised her. The two got along well, and Gabe enjoyed that Bella never pressured her when Gabe was very shy. Bella always let Gabe take her time with anything, and Gabe always felt happy and safe with her mother.
However, Bella was a bit too overprotective. For example, when Gabe was bullied Bella decided to just homeschool her for a while, and she never really tried to push Gabe out of her shell. Bella also never told Gabe about her other mother Aria Cromwell, or about her rivalry with the witch satyress Rida Torlily. Bella did mean to tell Gabe about Aria eventually, but sadly she passed away before she had a chance.
They were especially close during Bella's last year alive, as Gabe did her best to take care of her sick mother and even putting her own studies and plans to move out on hold. Bella tried to tell Gabe she didn't have to do that, but really appreciated that she got to spent her last moments with her daughter.
Aria Cromwell is Gabe's mother. Gabe grew up without knowing about her other mother. The two of them have recently been reunited, after Gabe learned the truth about Aria, which had been something Bella hadn't told her in order to keep her safe.
Even if Gabe was already 25 the first time she met Aria, she already feels very comfortable and safe around her. Getting to spend time with her mother is something she really enjoys, especially after being without Bella for seven years. She's even a little anxious about something bad happening to Aria, as she doesn't want to lose both of her mothers – especially when she has only now been able to meet Aria.
Now that Aria and Gabe are bonding, Aria is trying to encourage Gabe to be herself and not just follow in Bella's footsteps.
Gabe usually calls Aria ma, as she already uses mom for Bella and Aria found Ms. Cromwell a bit too formal from her own daughter.
Ayla Royra is Gabe's childhood friend. When Ayla was 13 and Gabe was 12, Ayla decided to befriend Gabe because they had seen how Gabe was always lonely at school.
Even though Gabe was socially anxious, she felt safe and comfortable around Ayla – even with their troublemaker reputation. Or the reputation was actually the reason Gabe felt safe, as Ayla often threatened people who tried to keep on bullying Gabe at school. Ayla's other friends weren't that fond of Gabe, but Ayla always enjoyed her company and never wanted to pressure her to do anything she didn't want to, even though Ayla and their friends often caused trouble.
Gabe developed a huge crush on Ayla, and even cut her hair very short to look cool and as a sign of sorts of her realizing she's a lesbian. Gabe never told Ayla she had a crush on them, and just endured the fluster and pain in her chest she felt whenever she was with them.
Sadly Ayla had to move away from Crowbog at the age of 16 while Gabe was 15, as their parents wanted to start a new career in another town. Gabe was heartbroken, but did get over her crush on Ayla as the years went by.
They managed to reconnect after meeting in Sleethill, where Ayla had moved as an adult.
Gabe has met Szur only recently as they are the demon companion of Gabe's mother Aria.
Gabe really likes Szur despite their grumpiness since she's very fascinated by demons and enjoys pampering Szur. The imp seems to like being pampered by Gabe, so the two get along.
Rida Torlily was actually Gabe's mother Bella's rival, because both were potion makers. They both wanted the same potion selling license, which would permit selling healing potions and medicine. Bella was the one who managed to get the license, and Rida wasn't happy about it.
Rida started waging war towards the Norwood family, and still continues to do so even after Bella's death, and now has her eyes on Bella's daughter Gabe, who now has Bella's license. Rida is the one who cursed Gabe to have a demon sent after her, but ultimately botched it because Rida's anger got in the way, and the demon sent after Gabe was specifically a succubus (which Rida didn't mean to happen). Because of it, the succubus Risyss didn't have the necessity to kill Gabe, and the two ended up falling in love.
However, Gabe herself doesn't know Rida was the one who cursed her, especially since Bella didn't tell about their rivalry. So, Gabe is always very polite towards Rida and is always happy to sell the satyress her potions.
Yserlith and Gabe met when she was summoned by Risyss in order to help her and Gabe out. She was a little scared of Yserlith at first, as she was very distant and intimidating. However, when she learned about Yserlith's past and how she was abandoned by her mortal girlfriend, Gabe understood her a lot better.
Yserlith knew Gabe's mother Bella personally, and was the one who told Gabe about Aria, which Gabe is very grateful for.
Gabe considers Yserlith her friend, even though she's sure it will take a long time until they could become closer ones.
Melina and Gabe met when she was summoned by Risyss in order to help her and Gabe out. Gabe was a bit uncomfortable with Melina at first, as the rookie succubus was very invasive of her personal space.
However, Gabe did start liking Melina pretty soon, as her energetic and positive attitude was something Gabe found very adorable. She considers Melina her friend, and feels like it's easy to be around compared to most demons she finds intimidating.
The Goddess of Death didn't really know about Gabe's existence, until she found out her elite succubus Lady Risyss had fallen in love with her. She wasn't happy about it, but when she found out that Gabe was Belladonna Norwood's daughter and wanted to continue in her mother's footsteps to mend the relationship between demons and witches, the Goddess was a lot more understanding.
She now wants Risyss to make sure Gabe is safe during their mission, but is still very distant towards the two as she dislikes their relationship.

- Gabe's favourite colour is black.
- Gabe's favourite flowers are foxglove and jimson weed.
- Gabe specializes in potions, especially healing potions. She makes them and sells them, though she also gives them out for free to those who need them but don't have the money.
- Gabe is also interested in demonology and magical creatures in general. Bella often told Gabe about demons when she was a kid.
- Gabe stutters a lot.
- Gabe is a butch lesbian and she prefers wearing comfortable and unisex/masculine clothing.
- Gabe can play the recorder. Her mother Bella was very musical and wanted to teach an instrument to Gabe. Gabe chose the recorder so she wouldn't have to sing while playing.
- Gabe has an okay singing voice though – She's very shy, so she usually sings very quietly. If she was more brave with her voice, she could be a great singer
- Gabe isn't fully comfortable with her sexuality because of internalized homophobia, but luckily Risyss is helping Gabe with accepting herself. (It's worth noting that in Mirtalese queer people are now much more accepted and the situation isn't as bad as it was when Gabe's moms were in their twenties.)
- Gabe loves tea a lot, especially oolong tea and Elvish teas. She also loves sparkling wine.
- Gabe is named after her grandfather, Gabriel Norwood, who was very fond of human names. Bella also told Gabe how Gabriel was usually called Gabe by friends. Gabe loved the nickname and wanted to use it herself, too.
- Her favourite animals are sheep. Ironically, her favourite food is anything that has mutton in it.
- Gabe wishes she was taller, since she grew up believing she was an elf – for an elf she's very short.
