TheTwistedReality's Bulletins

The Primaria Zone is the main area of The Gateway that I've focused on charting. It neatly contains all of my family's entrances to their realities (+1 stranger). This is the only area of The Gateway that I truly understand, it is coated in darkness through and through. By the look of it, areas beyond Primaria are no different. A strange dim light source seems to come from the ground itself, I don't know if it may come from the grass or the soil. The light source makes it possible to see as long as you put in the effort of peering through the darkness, I have yet to work out a good solution for seeing easily in the Gateway but given my current situation, it's not a priority. The dominant biome of Primaria (and possibly the entirety of The Gateway itself?) is what I call the Eternal Forest, because of how infinite it feels. Dark twisted trees make up and block up the majority of the zone, any areas without trees were made artificially, which I'll get into later. The only other naturally occurring biome that I have found is one that I do not yet dare to explore: The Darklands. From what I have somehow managed to see, it appears to be the same as the Eternal Forest, just with no light source whatsoever. Denver seems to be familiar with the Darklands in his time roaming the Gateway, but again, exploration is just not a priority at this time in life.  ~ Excerpt: Contingentplane Volume 1 by Cessa Somnium

From what I've observed, The Gateway is a marvel in its many tactical advantages. The entrances to the realities of Corydon SomniumSpook Somnium and the anomalous fifth Dreamleaper are all placed closer in proximity to the entrance of Cirem's reality which has given me remarkable freedom in terms of my exploration and data collection. I feel as though I have sufficiently established myself as the dominant threat, the fear will make Somnium move sparingly in his own attempts at data collection and monitoring of his children's realities. The persistent foliage of the Gateway provides both myself and the enemy with cover when traveling through the majority of the realm. However, yet again I am advantaged from the tactical standpoint. There appears to be a lack of trees surrounding the entrance of Somnium's reality, leaving the entrance vulnerable to surveillance and attack. ~ Excerpt: Archives i by Tresn

The Primaria Zone is the only charted area of The Gateway by Cessa Somnium and Tresn within The Twisted Reality. The vast majority of the zone is taken up by the Eternal Forest, named by Cessa due to the fact that no end has been discovered. Smaller biomes (both artificial and natural) are The Darklands, The Flats and The Scorches (Both Major and Minor). The Primaria Zone includes the entrances to the realities of every living Dreamleaper at this point in time. The cover of the many trees is taken advantage of by Cessa and Tresn in their conflict against eachother, both sides sneaking from reality to reality, collecting information and plotting against eachother.

On the topic of artificial biomes and areas of Primaria, there are two which are similar in their lack of foliage, just for different reasons. I’ll start off with The Flats, since I know more about them than I do about The Scorches. The Flats were gradually pressed into place over a few decades by Denver, back before I had him repurposed. All of the trees and grass within The Flats were flattened down into a spongy mess of dried mush. Because of his limitations (needing the moonlight from my reality specifically in order to survive) he hasn’t been able to go very far, and really there was no reason for him to want to. His purpose back in those days was to kill, so my reality would of course be the optimal hunting ground. While the area’s creation is understandable and ultimately unavoidable, it leaves me with a huge disadvantage towards Rem’s monsters. Exit from my reality is always an enormous risk, only Bringer and Scythe are fast enough to leave without risk as far as I know. I had to stop sending Wrath out there long ago, it was stupid of me to do so in the first place.  ~ Excerpt: Contingentplane Volume 1 by Cessa Somnium

As for The Scorches, by my understanding the creation of those two patches of charred trees took place during two different events. Both were burned into place by Tentoria, the colossal jellyfish monster. I was not witness to the events that made the minor area of the scorches but I have a theory. In an escape from the reality it originated from, Tentoria squeezed it’s way through the exit of the reality which was so close to the ground that it seared all of the trees and grass outside of it. As for the major portion, it was created long after the minor portion. It happened during a campaign by Rem’s monster in order to have control over Tentoria. I only witnessed the end of the fight, when it was tugged downward and captured by the monster, so close to the ground that once again, all of the wildlife was burnt to a crisp.

Willow Creek is a small town located in the Palto Region, bordering the towns of Spruceville and Folltrum. The town is drenched in culture, often standing in remembrance of the native peoples who resided in the grounds of the town long ago before they died off, leaving the land empty for new settlers and travelers. The town has become a packed yet sustainable breeding ground for all walks of person and lives. On the eastern side of Willow Creek, the Iron Oak Gated Community houses those wealthy enough to afford one of the many mansions. On the west of the town, factories and business thrive, all of which provide the citizens of Willow Creek with steady jobs as well. At the towns core, all of the essentials can be found. Restaurants, the hospital, police office, the Ballmart Supercenter and the Grey Neon Inn all fill the space, along with many houses and homes. The lives of youth are bolstered up at Willow Creek Elementary and Molly Ivy Secondary School, both located near the eastern end of town. On the western end, coated in the greenery of the Denver Cotton Forest, the Willow Creek Orphanage can be found. Currently it is home to 14 children, the number wavers often due to the many newlyweds who move into town. Through the western end of Willow Creek, the 757 cuts through town, providing easy access to the freeway. Notable small businesses that we'd like to recognize are: Crunchy Shale's, Tenacity's Diner and the Northcloud Hotel. Each of the three businesses were founded by residents of the town, and stand as proof of the ingenuity that lives within Willow Creek's borders. Willow Creek, a jam packed community that thrives in unity. Excerpt: Willow Creek Town Hall

As a town, Willow Creek did mean a lot to me, not necessarily in a good way. I try to steer my thoughts clear of the hellhole that was the orphanage. That place stomped the idea into my head that adults don't care about children, and that a kid without a parent is as good as garbage. Maybe I should have stayed there and played it out to the end, I regret those I had to leave behind there but I'll be damned if I ever set foot in that place again. Then there was Sanae's old factory, I had a few friends who lost fingers in that place. I'm lucky I have my full hands, all things considered. I guess most of my memories in that town were bad after I was fired because of that bastard Ethan himself, though I did have my share of good times, with Rem of course. I was lucky we met at that coffee shop when we did, I just barely managed to land that job and keeping it wasn't so easy, not for a kid like me. After I met Rem though, my time in Willow didn't last much longer. From then on we moved on to Remeia and never looked back until Cory was born. I'm glad I finally started writing these old memory diary things, even if nobody will read them it's nice getting my thoughts out in a place where they could be revisited someday. It's better than rambling to Scythe anyway, its always in one ear and out the other with that goof. ~ Excerpt: Memories Volume 1 by Cessa Somnium

The town is small but packed with many citizens who all carry a friendly demeanor to them. The unspoken arrangement of the town is that Sarrossa Road separates the poorer and more run down western region from the eastern region of the town, which ranges from middle class to filthy rich.

Twisted Reality FAQ

Posted 4 years, 1 month ago by TheTwistedReality
What is Dreamleaping?:
Dreamleaping is the act of travelling from the Neutralplane (Our world) to the Contingentplane (The Realities) through REM sleep.

How does one become a Dreamleaper?:
Primarily Dreamleaping is hereditary, passed down from parents to their children, although it is possible for Dreamleapers to have a child who lacks the ability. In order to spread the ability to Dreamleap to those who lack the ability, you either have to pass it through blood (a blood transfusion for example) or through intercourse (HAHAHA >>:)).

What is a reality?:
Every Dreamleaper has their own reality. Their reality is created when they first Dreamleap. This normally occurs from ages 2 to 15 if the ability is passed down to them through their parents, although there have been exceptions. The way realities function is very similar to dreams, every time you return to your reality new locations and entities may be created depending on your thoughts, subconscious, fears, wants, etc.

What about living things that live within realities?:
The only creatures who are able to travel from the Contingentplane to the Neutralplane are Dreamleapers, meaning every other living thing in the Contingentplane is native to the plane. Normally when one has a dream the living things around them will have very basic personalities, if they have personalities at all. Natives to the Contingentplane are the same way. When a being is created in the realities, they normally have a basic and primitive mind like that of a child, their personality develops over time as they learn and grow. So far, it has been impossible for a native of the Contingentplane to enter the Neutralplane.

How does logic work in the realities? (Physics and science and the like):
Since a person’s reality is created based off of their mind and view of the world, logic within a person’s reality may be skewered to varying degrees. It is very normal for aging to not occur within the Contingentplane, since aging is not a process humans are conscious of during their normal lives. Wrinkles do not appear in the skin, the effect gravity has on the body is another common thing to be discarded within the realities. Some realities lack the requirement to eat and drink, some realities grant immortality. The possibilities are endless.

How do you enter and exit the realities if you are a Dreamleaper?:
In order to enter the Contingentplane, a Dreamleaper simply needs to fall asleep and enter REM sleep. Due to this, a Dreamleaper will never dream normally. In order to exit your reality, you must be within your own reality. You cannot be in the Gateway or someone else’s reality. In order to wake and return to the Neutralplane, you need to will yourself awake, similarly to how a dream would work. Depending on how tiresome your body is in the Neutralplane, you may be unable to wake and return to the Neutralplane exactly on demand.

What if you die within the Contingentplane?:
If you die within the Contingentplane, you’re dead permanently. Physical injuries and maiming also apply, the effects are permanent (unless the injury is minor enough to heal).

How could a Dreamleaper prevent themself from entering the Contingentplane when they fall asleep?:
The only known method of preventing yourself from entering the Contingentplane during sleep is to take Dream Suppressant regularly. You will sleep soundly and wake up without ever having left the Neutralplane.

How do you travel between different realities?:
Every single reality is connected through the Gateway, it has been said that the Gateway was the first ever reality. The position of the entrance into your reality in the Gateway corresponds to your realworld location when your reality is first created. (Example, two people fall asleep and enter their reality for the first time together, the entrance to both of their realities would be directly next to one another.)

What happens to your reality when you die?:
When a Dreamleaper dies, the entrance to their reality from the Gateway is cut off. The reality collapses in on itself, everything within is either killed or distorted heavily.

What would happen to your reality if you stopped entering it (by taking Dream Suppressant):
When abandoned for long periods of time, a person's reality will begin to corrupt and decay. How this process happens and looks varies from reality to reality. Often times a reality itself will attempt to replace the missing Dreamleaper.

Is the ability to Dreamleap widespread?:
Centuries ago the ability was quite commonplace. There were many villages full of tribes of Dreamleapers, eventually one after the other they all died out, either through natural causes or through the dangers that the realities posed. Only one remained, the tribe of the Somnium bloodline. The entire tribe would eventually be killed by a plague born to wipe out the entire bloodline. There were few survivors. From then on the Somnium bloodline’s few descendants were tormented by the plague. The Somniums decided the ability was far too dangerous to share with many others, there were and are few Dreamleapers ever since.
