rules are easy; you can disagree with ppl but be respectful, this thread isnt the place for debates. its an opinion thread, not a life or death thread. got it? thanks, loves.

got a music opinion you feel is unpopular? post it here

ill go first; glass animals wouldnt be underrated if yall actually bought their albums instead of pirating that stuff from animation memes

billie eilish is kind of overrated

'pop punk' isnt a thing stop trying to say its a thing. stop insulting punk music like that lmao 'pop punk' is just edgy pop

skrillex's new music fucking rules and ill take the new dog blood tracks over jack u shit or his dubstep stuff from way back when any day

memphis rap is the superior rap genre and it always has been

you arent special for pretending that you like 'extracore' or bad breakcore or whatever (i say this as a former breakcore producer lol)

vaporwave tends to be fake deep shit made by 14 year olds who decided they wanted to be communists after not having enough money to buy a vape pen. it all kinda sucks

high-pitched anime samples in music is overused and more annoying than anything (@ the breakcore community because I love breakcore, but some of y'all gotta find something else to sample)

Vocaloids are cool, but I think other voice synth programs Like AlterEgo, Aquestone, VocalWriter, etc. also deserve attention and shouldn't be pushed aside as 'vocaloid alternatives' Especially because there's a bunch of them that are very unique sounding and I'd love to see them used more. And for older programs like VocalWriter it'd be nice to give it some light so people can archive more on it & preserve it for years to come

Symphonic metal covers and "8-bit" remixes of videogame osts are overdone. It's cool the first time but after seeing one for the 100th time it makes me think "Damn It'd be refreshing to hear different genre remix/cover of this." Like idc if it's trance, gabber, harsh extratone it's just mad refreshing to hear a VG remix/cover that isn't metal

Linkin park hits differently and I understand why their music was made into a meme but their songs do slap tho....

Even ignoring the allegations behind Melanie Martinez the adult baby/ddlg-type aesthetic disgusts me. I can't get into her and she makes me sick.

Most of the more well-known English producers in the Vocaloid community aren't good. Adding onto that- I prefer UTAU over Vocaloid but I'm also a little biased given I'm into UTAU :P

The original version of Hurt by Nine Inch Nails is better than the Johhny Cash cover, fite me irl

-Some current House music is okay but I miss the old-school beat of it. Something about a 909 in the back just pleases me. Same with techno.
-K-Pop is a hit or miss for me I won't dwell too much on the reasons why much like J-Pop, I am most likely to listen to an artist if it as 1-4 ppl vs 10-20 artist in one group.
-French/Francophone music have some good stuff not just the electronica stuff which is great.
-Not a fan of rap but I'll sing R&B in a heartbeat.
-Love Motown and oldies.
-Vocaloids are a hit or miss, the idea is very cool but some of the voices fall so flat they sound like the text-to-voice on the computer making it hard to listen to. Other times the songs can be great, I guess it depends.

- Burning your Melanie Martinez stuff WILL NOT CHANGE ANYTHING. YOU ALREADY SPENT THAT MONEY. (I hate when people burn their merch. I mean that in like....what good does that do. You already paid for that. You burning it DOES NOT PUT THAT MONEY BACK INTO YOUR POCKET) I also have a lot of hot takes on Melanie that are super unpopular but this is not the place. (in short - i like her stuff. fight me)

- I think people push aside like, Outlaw country music. It's a specific like group of singers? Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash. (one other i cant remember). I grew up on a lot of that music and it means a lot to me.

- K-Pop is getting really over-rated. Half of its just mass produced boy bands that all sound the same so.

- Stop making fun of Billie Eilish. She's doing what she loves. She loves creepy shit and being weird, let her do creepy ass music videos and live her life.

-Old Nightcore is better than new nightcore. Maybe I'm just getting old.

I agree with the merch burning thing.

Reminds me of the one time people decided to destroy their perfectly working coffee pots or whatever they were to boycott the company on Twitter (heard about it from a video. This was way before I decided to join the site). I think some even bought some just to make coffee pot destroying videos.

Also, Melanie Martinez's music is amazing. I agree with that.

Another opinion; it's perfectly fine and a-okay to like music from someone "problematic". If you don't wanna support them and stuff, however, maybe find a mirror (like a lyric video though they are probs still monetized so they're still earning money), buy a cd pre-owned somewhere like eBay because I think no one but eBay and the seller earn the money?, and I guess pirate? Not sure about the latter though. Heard that's bad but eh. Do as you please.
