rules are easy; you can disagree with ppl but be respectful, this thread isnt the place for debates. its an opinion thread, not a life or death thread. got it? thanks, loves.

got a music opinion you feel is unpopular? post it here

I absolutely hate when the male singer has that whiny, auto-tuned-sounding voice, I don't get how people can stand it. It doesn't matter what the message in your song is, it's basically like the cursive singing thing that girls do. A good example that I can think of right now is something like this (which is also kind of funny since my ex sent it to me after we broke up lmao). It's just the way they sing and make it sound so whiny and annoying, it's kind of hard to take it seriously. It doesn't even sound like a normal higher pitched voice, it usually sounds like there's a little too much auto-tune involved, which is definitely part of the weird, can't take it seriously thing too

Also, unrelated but it's really not such a bad thing for people to find songs through tiktok, or for a song to be popular on there. Shouldn't you be glad your favourite, totally unknown and underappreciated band is getting more attention, or do you just want to feel special?

humanz is a GOOD GORILLAZ ALBUM you're all just cowards who want every album to be plastic beach. gorillaz doesn't HAVE a unifying sound, they play with genre a lot, and the idea that you want them to just sound similar to themselves every album is the opposite of what gorillaz is about

also, gorillaz ARE their features!! can you imagine clint eastwood without del? feel good inc without de la soul? i thought not, bro. also the rap in dirty harry makes the song better

Opinion incoming: It's okay to listen to an artist if they did something wrong. Just as long as you don't support them or openly excuse their actions, it's completely harmless. I mean, one time someone snapped at me for simply posting a song because one of the artists, who has been dead for a long time by the way, was problematic. I don't know, I just think it's kinda silly to do that.

Also, I know some people cannot stand still listening to artists if they did a bad which is honestly fine. Just, again, as long as they don't get super worked up at people like me who just think the music is good.

^I fully agree with above post. Especially because a lot of times it's because they're unaware of what happened (just wish more people would pm & let the person know before jumping to conclusions smh)

OT: Wish more people would talk about BGM in shows. Like most of the time people only talk about the OP and ED, characters' themes, but the BGM can make or break the tone of a scene (and honestly a lot of BGM slaps, like listening to them when I'm working or writing bc it's chill)

horn sections are rad and more bands should use them like AJR. 99% of AJR songs slap. (i don't know if that is particularly unpopular but i know a lot of people don't like horns. but. god. i love horns.)

edit: "modern songs are so repetitive"
falco: amaDEUS amaDEUS amaDEUS amaDEUS amaDEUS amaDEUS amaDEUS amaDEUS oh oh AMADEUS
me: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

i know i've said it before but i'm gonna say it again:
repetitive IS NOT BAD. if i can remember the lyrics of a song and it's catchy... *that's. the. point*.

yeah, okay, come together is GREAT, but i can't remember the lyrics for shit.

Ukuleles are a bit notorious, perhaps rightfully so, but a decent quality ukulele can sound beautiful in the right hands :O

I listen to a lot of artists. If a song catches my ear, I listen to it. I don't care if it's popular (Imagine Dragons, Fall Out Boy) or not (uh, that one Doctor Who theme song remix I listen to), if it catches, it catches.
