Oh man I’ve been thinking about this for YEARS!
When I was super little, my dad took me to his friends house. He was off doing something, I put on a movie. I’m fairly certain it was a VHS tape. It was an animated movie, mostly lineless art with silhouettes and blocky bright colors. It’s been so long I’m starting to forget most of it, but I remember one segment of moving stripey lines. The closest thing to it I can think of is the artwork for Fairly Local. There were a lot of scenes of random shapes and flashing colors like this. I also remember seeing a shot of a man, he was in shadow and had a sharp nose and a hat I think. The background was dark blue and black, I think his eyes were lit up in the shot.
It’s been so long since I’ve seen it, I figure I must’ve been less than 7 years old when this happened. So this movie mightve come out in the 90’s or 2000’s if I had to guess, but it could be older.
It’s such a vivid memory I’m certain it has to be real, I’ve always been curious what it was so I could watch it again. This memory has stuck with me for a long time.
Theres an animated segment in The Beatles movie Yellow Submarine for Its Only a Northern Song that definitely reminds me of the movie, when I watched it for the first time I thought that this might’ve been it. It isn’t though :( but it’s similar, so maybe it’ll help describe what I’m looking for.
