Have a certain video, tv show, movie, short or game thats on the tip of your tongue, or that youve been trying to find but can’t seem to find any info on it? I’ve been there! If so, this is the thread for you!

Share your mysteries to others, or help others with finding stuff about that specific media! I’ve always had a huge passion with this type of stuff so I’d love to help if I find anything of use!

can be super recent, can be super old. Can be a YouTube video, or it can be a tv show, movie, or a video game! ANYTHING.

god I’ve been meaning to make a thread like this for a while but I always forget to :( . This thread is heavily inspired by r/tipofmytongue and blameitonjorge (he makes a ton of lost media discovery videos! Go watch em if you’re interested in that stuff, it’s REALLY interesting and well made! Prob one of my favorites so far atm).

silverspoonzie this might be a long shot but dragon mania legends? I don't remember a dragon named molly, I think you name dragons in it yourself, but I believe it had something like a flute in the soundtrack for the majority of the time. There's a newer version, but the old one had less quality graphics, I don't know when it was updated into the new version. You had a team of dragons in it and fought other dragons, especially for the main quest. There were water/blue dragons and fire dragons I know for sure at the time and you could breed new ones but that's all I remember from it.

Dragon story could be another option, I don't recall much of that game at all but I'm throwing it out there anyway.

Its been in the back of my mind for literally years but I used to play this game, browser based I believe, on my laptop. You played as a stick figure and went through different levels of a game, and it was pretty simple. Mainly black and grey I think. The objective each level was to get a key and "escape". The stick figure was just plain black, no unique design or anything. The key was just a floating key, nothing special. My friend also remembers playing it and so does my dad but none of us remember the name, or if it even exists now lol. During the level, the walls and layout would change. So like if you walked to the left wall, the screen would turn so you'd be walking on that wall but it looked like the floor since it turned. I remember there being a lot of spikes you'd have to avoid, I think they were light grey/silver.

I know for sure it's not the game shift.

Another thing I've been trying to remember is a series of animated short stories I saw years ago. It was not for children but I saw my parents watching it one night. It had a really unique animation style, similar to claymation probably, but it might have just been 2d. One of the stories I remember a lady was on a train and was having heart issues, or like, her heart came out of her chest, but I may have smashed together some of the scenes in my head since then. I remember one scene with a couple sitting in what I think was a waiting room. Not much to go off of at all, ik, but thought it would be worth a shot. A lot of the stories in it were dark, but the colors used were more vibrant in contrast to that.

I remember playing this sorta crudely made choose your own adventure game. It was made with slides (kinda like a PowerPoint or Google Slides presentation), and you clicked links that took you to a certain slide. For some reason, there were a stupid amount of dumb ways you could die, and all those ways you could die were crudely drawn as well, with some deaths including death by hubris (you can choose to start with no armor or weapons, which leads to your death), poisoned water, and going the wrong way thanks to a strange creature with two heads (one tells the truth, one tells lies). Everything except for the very last bit was drawn crudely, but it has a certain charm to it, imo. The whole adventure has you trying to slay a dragon and either take its loot, or rescue some sort of princess, maybe both? Idk. The word "Youngstown" comes to mind when I think of this game, for some reason.

Edit: I found it! Its a game called Dragon Quest! Its a slideshow choose your own adventure game made by a group of middle schoolers! It is pretty short, and also charming! There were a whole bunch of funny deaths that I am slowly remembering again!

Back again with another song cover that I can't find. This time it's a cover of the song "Voodoo doll" by Vixx (K-pop group). I found this cover years ago, probably back in 2015-2016, possibly a little earlier than that. This specific cover was an English cover that was sung by a woman. If I'm remembering correctly, she had long hair, and there were lyrics being shown at the bottom of the screen. I remember this specific translation having a lyric along the lines of "the sadness in my heart is here", I think? I could be misremembering the lyric. I've tried searching for this cover and I can't find it, and I'm worried that it may have been deleted. :(

Edit: I haven't found the cover itself, but I think I just found the specific translation that was used in the cover! https://www.smule.com/song/vixx-%EB%B9%85%EC%8A%A4-voodoo-doll-english-karaoke-lyrics/550821132_353994/arrangement Also, I've already listened to the covers on this website, and none of them match the sound of the cover that I'm looking for.

I remember seeing this when I was really young, maybe 7 years old? I think my parents were watching this... I guess shortfilm(?) c-drama(?) on TV and I was there with them. I can't remember how long it was, but it couldn't have been more than like an hour? Probably way shorter than that. It was probably airing on cable because we only had cable back then, or maybe it was a DVD? If it was airing on cable, the channel was probably OMNI Television (NOT English television.) I remember it being spoken in Mandarin(?) or maybe Cantonese... or some other East-Asian language (I couldn't tell the difference at that age) - all the actors were Asian too.

Here's a summary of the plot. I randomly remembered a bunch of details from it years ago and decided to write it down. Spoiler for drug use + accidental overdose (sleeping pills).
If by some miracle you actually find it and want to tag me in your reply, my username is spelled with lowercase "L"s and NOT uppercase "i"s!

Our main character is a depressed teenage girl. One night, she falls asleep as usual, but this time, a boy comes to visit her in her dreams. In the dream, she is in an all white room, with a magical door in the center of the room. The boy would use that door to enter/exit the room. They get along instantly, like they were soulmates. They talk in that room until it's time for the girl to wake up.

She wakes up, and is saddened because it was only a dream, but she continues her day as normal. Her life is miserable, but when she goes back to bed, she has the same dream. The boy comes back into the room, and they just continue where they left off, until again, she needs to wake up.

Repeat this for a long period of time. She is miserable in the waking world, overworked by school, no friends, maybe she has a job she also hates too, I don’t know I’ve forgotten the details. It’s only made worse because now that she knows what it's like to be happy, she feels even more empty. The only thing that makes her happy is escaping the real world by going to sleep and seeing that guy, and over time, she starts to do it more often.

She purposefully starts to try and fall asleep during class, and her grades start dropping. Her parents are pissed and also concerned but she doesn’t care. All she wants to do is to see that guy.

Somehow, she manages to get a hold of some bottles of sleeping pills, and starts to take them to make her go to sleep faster and for longer. She takes them in class too, probably, which concerns the people around her even more because they can’t just shake her back awake anymore; they have to wait for the drug’s effects to wear off.

I’m not entirely sure what the guy’s POV on all this is. Maybe he’s concerned too, and maybe he tells her to stop purposefully falling asleep to visit him. Or maybe he has no clue what’s going on, and is just happy the girl visits more often now.

One evening, after a particularly stressful day, she goes back home and just downs the entire bottle of sleeping pills. She accidentally overdosed, and died in her sleep. Her parents find her cold, lifeless corpse the next morning, still clutching the bottle of pills in her hand.

In her dreams, she calls out to the boy, but he’s not his usual happy self. Actually, he might not even be a human anymore, I think her dying revealed his true form which was some sort of cryptid monster angel thing, but I can’t remember, he could have just stayed a man and I’m just remembering wrong. He’s angry and distraught, and also deeply saddened.

The door in the center of the room is broken beyond repair and partially withered. He can’t go back to his dimension, or whatever was on the other side of that door. Heaven, maybe? Don’t know. He’s trapped there, in that room, with that girl, until the end of eternity. The girl realizes she’s fucked up real bad (I don’t think she actually intended on dying), and starts crying realizing the magnitude of what she’s done and apologizes up and down. The boy forgives her (I think), and she cries into his arms, end credits.

the app was a game where you could make your family as in your real family and could even use dead family members you could get pets too it had no pat to win things and was

educational from what I remember i think it had a story but i didn't care about that i think the year was somewhere in 2010s but i could be wrong

it was on the play store

on instagram there was an artist who drew these two guys called nev and mochi, they were like stick figure styled characters. one had electric conductor type horns and the other had a headband. we used to be instagram mutuals, and i SWEAR the only existing piece of content of them online is now the artfight attack i drew of them back when the webpage was still running. i don't want to find them, obviously they rebranded and took anything down for a reason... but i need to know if anyone else remembers them??? am i insane???

teddiebearie

this is a huge shot in the dark and I don't remember much of it, but. sometime in the 2010s (probably around midway?) there was an online flash game that I played once or twice and then lost. I think it was in a pixel style? definitely something simplistic and colourful. you played as some sort of fantasy animal and the whole point was about exploring the world. the background style reminds me a little of ds era pokemon games but it definitely wasn't pokemon. there was a lot of forest and grassy areas but I think there were some others as well? there was some overarching plot but nothing major. and iirc you needed keys of some sort to unlock certain parts in each area

There's a movie (or show? could be either one) that my nan had on a DVD that was so boring even to me as a 7 year old that I dissociated during it so much that I barely remember anything about it. AT ALL. At this point I feel like the only way I could prove to myself it even exists is if I rifled through my nan's DVD collection, but I don't even know if she would have it anymore...

Anyway, I'll tell you what I know about it.

Literally all I know about it is that 1. It was 2D animated. and 2. It had something to do with frogs. When you look up "2D animated frog movie" You're either going to get Disney's Princess And The Frog movie or you're going to find a ton of bootlegs of it. I can assure you it was definitely not the Disney movie, this was on a MUCH smaller budget and clearly it's a very obscure movie or show because if it wasn't I would have found it by now. I'm also completely unsure of if it was a retelling of that fairy tale in any way or not.

Anything I really can tell you about the movie/show is very vague because I genuinely don't remember anything about it. But going purely off of vibes, firstly, I think it had a very kind of flat and lineless animation style, secondly, I have a feeling this movie/show was very marketed towards girls and had a lot of pink on it, and third, and this could be completely wrong, but I remember there being some really WaCkY duo of villains, kind of with Jessie and James vibes from Pokemon, maybe they were magical like witches or something? And I just remember them messing up in comical ways but I found it all cringe even back then.

There's only been one time I've gotten close to discovering it, and that was when I found out about this show called "A Kind Of Magic" which apparently originally aired on Disney channel in 2008. It does indeed have a frog character (that's what that green thing is) and it does have that whole magical vibe to it, but I tried looking through some episodes of it and plot-wise none of them seemed to resemble what I do remember of it, and also I couldn't find any record of this show having any kind of home media release anywhere, and if it does then I'm unsure what episode it would have been of. Uh.. Anyway. I'm just going to put this here I guess. I guess I'm willing to accept it may have been A Kind Of Magic but I just misremembered a ton of stuff if I can find out if it had a DVD or not. Something I feel pretty certain of is that 90% of this episode took place outdoors, in some kind of swamp or frog.. location.. and the reason I'm currently unsure that it's that show is bc all the episodes I've found of it thus far take place in other settings

Alright, another media to the pile!
There was this song I found by searching through, certain blogs.
It was a song focused on masochism (yes, in that way) from the masochists perspective.
And that shit was BANGING.
I can't remember the music exactly, but I think it had a pop-rock vibe.
The lyrics mentioned whips and the-like.
It is NOT Masochism Tango.
Please help I really liked that song XD

(gonna use they/them pronouns since its been like 7 years, and i dont wanna assume their current gender/pronouns)

Idk if this counts in here since i know exactly who it is and that they 100% existed, but does anyone here remember ELLA? They were an animation memer (i think their most popular video was a Freaks animation meme they made back in around 2017) with a pretty big following. Their sona had dark brown hair, blue eyes (or possibly brown? i remember them being blue though), and they often wore a pale beige brownish sweater in some of the memes they were in. I think they also had a few other guy ocs as well.

heres a super rough visual reference of what i remember their old sona looked like. (Their style didnt look like this though!)

posting this here since I CANT FIND THEM, OR ANY OF THEIR OLD VIDEOS ANYWHERE ON YOUTUBE/online :(((((((((((. I think they mightve privated them/deleted them, or changed their username, but finding their current channel, or anywhere that theyre active on would be just enough for me. They were a gigantic inspo to me and the start of my animations

Found this thread a while back, might as well try my luck-

Back around 2015-2018, I used to own a Nabi tablet (they have since been discontinued) and I used to play a lot of games on it. A particular one that really stuck out to me and that I really loved was some sort of 2-D side-scroller game centered around building a village. The characters were anthropomorphized animals, and each of them had their 'houses/shops' that you could set up. The main character of the game was an old turtle who walked with a cane, I'm assuming he was the mayor or something and he would frequently walk through the village/farm. Occasionally, some 'tourists' would come and buy from your shops, which gave you some of the game's currency (I don't remember what it was). Another section of the game was a small farm and house, where you could grow different crops (bamboo was the main crop/base crop and took the least amount of time to grow), and you could combine crops and cook them, which took anywhere around 5 minutes to an hour. You could use these to upgrade the shops, which changed their appearance and gave you more currency. I specifically remember there being a lotus-themed shop that cost a lot of in-game currency.

Another prominent feature was the fireworks. If you tapped the tourists on bikes, they would give you a firework. Once you had enough of these, you could put on a fireworks show, and if you tapped the fireworks as they were going up, it would give you some of the in-game currency.

I really loved this game, and am hoping that I can find something on it.

Crash_Pilot

Okay so I have NO idea if anyone will recognize this but:

I vividly remember this movie?animation?idk but I think it was either 3d or just thin lined hand drawn. It was about this bug thing(a tick maybe?) that was massive and tried living like a human I think. It had a big hat I remember being relatively close to being a sombrero and that at some point the eiffel tower was shown. I think it went either went around the world trying to search for a place to live or something along the lines of travelling for acceptance.

Don't know if it's related but I also distinctly remembered that Counting Stars is in someway related(or the same vibes) as this thing. Everytime I remember it then Counting Stars plays in my head so idk

teddiebearie

Crash_Pilot is it by any chance A Monster in Paris/Un monstre Ă  Paris? it sounds really similar at least + it does have a similar vibe as counting stars the song
