What songs do you HATE?

I know we all have our favorites, but what songs can you not stand hearing? What are you sick of? Or what have you never liked?

Jade-Everstone

glad over half this thread also agrees that dance monkey sucks lmao

OT: idk why i listened to it or how I could stand it in highschool but that specific subgenre of breakcore that's high-pitched-anime samples and high-pitched breaks. no mids, no bass, no kick. +on top of that doesn't help that half the samples are from pretty 'yikes' media. High-pitched samples, ig that's because I can't stand them in general.

I also like more agressive breakcore, closer to gabber & old skool jungle though so that's also a thing

Glowstickknight

Gabber is actually good but I am so so picky about faster music honestly

LovelyTheLoser

Going to add: Most songs by Justin Beiber, esply his newer songs...

Also, Doja cats "say so"... Love her, but holy shit that song is so bad it just makes me want to slam my head against a wall

Glowstickknight

I only really like Ain’t Shit by Doja 😬

dogstarlite

don't have anything to add but I'm a Dance Monkey apologist lmao

SherbetToons

I liked Dance Monkey when it first came out. It's mainly all the other Tones And I songs that give me a raging headache

BIRD

- This is more of a love hate thing, but Open your Heart from The Human League. The entire song sounds off key but idk if thats intentional or not. The flute in the background sounds like its screaming from the seven depths of hell and exactly 2 minutes into the song makes me want to dissasemble my brain like a lego set just because of the HEEeHEeEHeHee part. Its so underrated i want people to listen to it because its hilarious. Exaclty why i love the Human League. Cant help but love how cheesy their songs sound

- Im sorry but ever since ed sheeran’s Bad Habbits released and started to play on the radio like 5 times an hour i literally CANNOT stand it at all. Like i get everyone loves Ed but every single time this guy releases a new song it gets overplayed SO much to the point where it becomes flat out annoying. Doesnt help that the lyrics are SO REPETITIVE OMG. Like dont get me wrong, i dont hate his music, Over the Castle on the Hill, Thinking Out Loud and Photograph are great but the constant repeating of his newer songs kinda ruined my liking for his newer stuff. (ironic since Thinking out Loud’s music vid played every single night when i used to watch Disney’s Family channel, and i still like it to this day).

- OH and idk if anyone who doesnt work in retail/a store that has background music can relate to this, BUT BOSSA MUSIC COVERS. I swear i have to listen to these specific covers EVERY SINGLE DAY and i swear it makes me work even slower because of how boring they are. I get the store i work at caters to older people, and also cause slower music makes people shop slower and buy more but STILL SRDDKDKSKKDKSK. The ones ive heard the most are Stayin Alive, Sweet Child O’ Mine, and Killing Me Softly

- Fergalicious, or i guess most of Black Eyed Peas except for Pump it and I Gotta Feeling. Fergalicious is literally just 90% samples but with Fergi singing it. Black Eyed Peas is more or less a love hate relationship cause even if their songs kinda meh i just cant help but love em man. Like sometimes i kinda like Boom Boom Pow but sometimes when Scream and Shout and My Humps come on i run as far away as i possibly can

also to add to some peoples other opinions..

  • Heat Waves was a pretty mediocre song the first time i heard it. I tried enjoying it at the time cause i was suprised to hear them on the radio, but i really dont like the constant repetitiveness of it. Only part i love is the part that isnt the same two phrases, its actually pretty cool and i really like the change of tone in Dave’s voice. Nice change comared to their newer albums. Reminded me of their 2015 album. Wish that they kinda stuck with that flow while also adding interchanging lyrics. I love Glass Animals so i hope that theyre newer stuff gets better. I hate that were constantly starting to see bands/musicians/record labels sticking with “repetitive lyrics, decent beat, thats it”. Glad its sorta changing now but the radio just loves putting all of those repetivtive songs on repeat.

  • I do def agree with some of the newer music on the radio being kinda… boring to listen to. Im a 80s/90s music enjoyer so im prob not the one to speak on this one, but they sound so repetitive. Ironic since each era of music is repetitive in some way but some of the music nowadays sounds outright lifeless and industrial. Only exceptions ive seen so far is Harry Styles, Lil Nas, and Brendon Urie when one of his songs gets put on the radio like once every 3 months. Its not ALL the same, but im def starting to feel that vibe on some of them, especially the ones who just outright frankenstein other older songs and repeat the same exact two phrases over and over.

  • ABSOLUTELY AGREE WITH BLURRED LINES. God i always hated it when it came on.
  • i actually like Tones & I’s music. Dance Monkey is a bit annoying now but their other stuff isnt actually that bad, and i like the uniqueness of her voice! I love when musicians stand out with their voices, no matter how outlandish or annoying their pitch/voice might be.

Glowstickknight

Hot take but I really do not like The Weeknd’s music. It has potential but falls short, and most songs are explicit as hell

Trash-Oracle

Louie Louie and Lowrider. Make my blood. bOIL

Hawaiian_Pizza

Sunflower and Dance Monkey. I just get mad hearing the songs. If I hear one more google ad with the song im gonna loose it.

Also I don't know why, I just don't like The world hasn't even started. It's the one song I can't bring myself to enjoy

Jester-not-Jasper

If I hear the fucking gummy bear song one more time I'm going to commit crimes. Especially because when my nephew was little it's all he'd let us watch because he'd scream and cry otherwise, and he'd make us watch it in different languages too? Like, he was 4 and grew up only learning English- Why the fuck did he watch it in German? Wouldn't be surprised if they used that song for CIA interrogations.

Mimiis07

The majority of mainstream pop songs that came out after 2016 or something around that, the ones that sound nearly identical to eachother despite being made by 2 different artists. I'm talking about the ones with very similar lyrics, so forgetable. They play regularly on the majority of radios, I have to switch onto a radio that mostly plays 1980s rock, it occationally plays ed sheeran but at least his songs sound unique and Shivers is not half-bad. But most radios play god awful music!!!!

ballpit

running up that hill by kate bush im sorry stranger things fans lol but i hear it EVERYWHERE and its driving me insane
but also its only that version i dislike since i like the version by meg myers so idk its just something about it that irks me
