✒️ Who are you?
I'm Miles and I'm 27. I'm a pretty boring person overall >.> I live with my best friend and an pretty chronically sick right now. I have a couple STEM degrees and spend far too much time RPing and toying around with OC stuff with my friends. I spent a lot of my time playing MMOs and other games with friends. I spent a good deal of time in these games RPing since I've always had a good deal of fun with this - writing with another person is something sorta special c:
✒️ How long have you been writing?
Since I was very very young. I still have really old pieces stowed away that are from when I was 6 maybe 7 and trying to craft my own storybook :') I've been /seriously/ writing since I was about 12-13 - spending most of high school pretty much focused intently upon writing and getting better at it best a kid could. It's something I stopped doing with quite so much intensity when I was in university but it never really stopped being a thing...and since I've graduated it's become just as important as always.
✒️ Your preferred languages in writing?
English. I only really know it fluently ;; I took Latin for 7 years because clearly that's gonna be useful!
✒️ What kind of things do you write / enjoy writing?
I like anything really. Weird fiction & heavily character focused pieces are what I am most interested in atm. I started off with 'high fantasy' stuff way back as a kid and have since fallen away from that for more strange settings I suppose. Ultimately I enjoy playing with prose - whether this means lyrical, experimental or simply pieces that just don't work it's always fun to play with words!
✒️ Favourite genres for your own stories?
Weird fiction, Science Fiction, Realistic Fiction with more mature themes. And I will /always/ be a sucker for faerie stories.
✒️ Any current writing projects?
Right now no - I'm looking to try and push myself this upcoming year with more than just my normal scattering of writing that falls by the wayside. I've completed longer projects before but it hasn't been in some time and I'd like to feel that sense of 'accomplishment' again, tbh.

I'm always looking for writing friends - whether to share works, chat about stuff or share advice! Feel free to throw me a message - or ask for my Discord since that's where I'm heavily active (I'm abysmal at most social media sites at this point).

hey! my name's alex, though you can call me chia or whatever you see fit! i'm an aspiring quantum physics major, though i've been really into biology as of late. i just.. adore science. (but i'm Very bad at chemistry) i have a lot of ideas, and writing's the only outlet i can express them through, since i'm severely lacking in any form of artistic skill! writing's a fantastic way to just.. get your ideas out there? experimenting is something i do a lot, and i'm just here to grow as a writer!

✒️ How long have you been writing? 

i started writing when i was about 9 years old, and i sort of.. only ever wrote embarrassing stuff like warriors fanfictions with my own characters CRIES.. i can solidly say i've been writing for at least 7-8 years! sort of on and off- i'd love to make writing more than a passive hobby, but my motivation's been super down as of late, so i haven't been able to practice much.

✒️ Your preferred languages in writing? 

i can confidently speak both english and spanish, and though i don't mind writing in the latter, i prefer to write in english! spanish isn't a pain to write in, in my opinion, but is sort of clunky to read. it's not something i avidly prefer. 

✒️ What kind of things do you write / enjoy writing? 

i enjoy writing short drabbles of assorted genre! i experiment a lot, but i love describing scenery (even if it's not the thing i'm best at)! i'm working on it to write more meaningful dialogue, but that's just.. part of the job! i like to write impactful interactions between characters that affect stories, but i'm guilty of not liking writing the stuff in between.

✒️ Favourite genres for your own stories? 

i love writing horror! it's something i'd love to do well. i also love fantasy!

✒️ Any current writing projects?

yeah! i'm currently working on a ten chapter writing commission for a friend, which i only have two more chapters to go over the span of a month or two.. i'm a slow worker, haha. aside from that, i have the thought of a novel on the backburner, with some basic plot written out, and it'll be a new test for me because it's got sci-fi themes!

Okay I'm a bit late for that, but... hurray anyways. How is everyone's writing going so far in the new year? :3

HeroofEnelios I have been having my well deserved break after nano and focused full on drawing! I'll start going through my nano stuff in mid-January though and will focus the rest of the month in fixing my stuff and getting them ready for beta reading stage o/ I also have a short scifi novella in planning with character designs somewhat thought out - I just need to find the right mood to start it, but it'll probably be after story fixes. How about you? 

Caine that's good to hear! I've been taking a short break since the end of November from writing, but I'm slowly getting back into the swing of things now that it's a new year. I have also been focusing more on drawing! I've been gradually getting used to my new drawing tablet, which... is taking some time admittedly. ^_^;;

Otherwise I've been doing short stories here and there. ^^

I have slowly started editing my nano oneshots now, all of which have gone through the first round edits and I'm almost halfway through second edits! Is anyone else using January to revise and efit their nano stuff?

Also, camp nano starts in April: does anyone have plans yet? I have been thinking of dedicating that month for trying to work on my ages old writing project and hopefully finishing the missing chapters of the full novel lmao

Also yep! If you're really pushing through it, it would be fun! Though it would be nice if it's uploaded on the Forum Games rather???

@wanco-alien Yeah I was wondering if it would be smarter to make it a game altogether, it'd hopefully grab people's attentions there better too (but I can obviously advertise it here too because my thread my rules xoxo)

I like the idea of a monthly prompt challenge! It'd be good for motivating some to write, and it's also just a nice writing exercise. :D
