Is it just me, or is tag search not working now? I type in a word in the tags box and hit search, and it seems like it just reloads the characters on the homepage instead.
Feedback thread for the Front/Browse/Search page updates — the corresponding announcement and changelist is here!
🎯 Goals —
- Reduce congestion in the character trade listings and search pages that was previously caused by a bunch of ads/non-characters being submitted to the site
- Improve visibility on the top page for characters that are currently being pushed off by non-characters
- Make it easier to find what you’re looking for when searching for characters/codes/resources/services/etc
📋 Seeking feedback for —
- I wasn’t sure whether people would prefer having each character type separated out into a separate listing rather than everything just being types of character?
- I opted to just add an optional filter since this seems more flexible in terms of search and customization (people seem to just be creating everything as a “Character” profile currently anyway, and a lot of the features are going to be the same), but let me know if this doesn’t feel good, or if anyone has suggestions regarding how to better structure the listings.
- My original idea for the front page was to allow people to add an arbitrary number of blocks (eg. if you want to add a Popular Characters, Popular HTML/CSS, Popular Resources blocks separately), but the UI for the control panel started getting very long and confusing so I just scrapped the idea. I’ll probably be fiddling with this to see if there’s a way to do this that isn’t overwhelming for the average user.
- Character categories:
- These are currently “Character”, “HTML/CSS”, “Resource”, “Service/Ad” based on what we most commonly receive reports for, but this can be expanded or updated if we feel that this is missing anything or is too broad.
- General UI/UX feedback:
- If there’s anything confusing or if you have suggestions for how to improve any areas of the front/browse/search pages.
- Extra features:
- Are you someone who regularly uses the trade listings or front pages and feel like there are changes or extra features that could be added to make life easier for you?? Have ideas for how to help make the listings less frustrating and more accessible?? Let me know!!
- Performance issues:
- Is the site super laggy for you now??? If not site-wide, please do point out the specific pages that you’re having issues with.

Kawaiimarshmallowkit Sorry for the inconvenience here -- could you possibly hit enter after you've finished typing your tag and before hitting Search? The issue seems to be that it's not picking up tags that haven't been turned into an actual tag block (eg. it needs to look like the first image below, rather than the second image):
I'll be looking into a fix for this but it likely won't be in until this evening now -- thanks in the meanwhile for your patience, and just let me know if it's not working for you still!
admin I tried hitting enter this time and it does work as long as I hit enter after the word before searching. Tysm!
For filtering, I'd honestly love some for character types. I really like the random section to discover more characters for example. But it's always just furries. I'm more interested in humans or strange creatures. Â maybe not a filter with available options cuz I feel that's too wide but tags instead? For example: only suggest characters tagged with : #dragon #creepy etc.Â
I know there is a general search feature for this but having it as a general setting you can set would be so nice. Especially for random. + I don't use the regular search too often.. it also always takes a lot of time because of the known limitations.Â
I'd really love a feature that shows the active listing icons for characters on their images, as it does currently, but for ANYWHERE the character is, such as 'created designs', your own characters, or your favorites!

Oooo this is a great idea! I know that any character that was list blocked is going to be released if it was from "mistagging," however, I think my entire account was locked from listing? I notice that even though I set my visibility to public and list a character for trade, it still doesn't appear in the feed. This only happened to my account since I believe that I got a character list blocked one too many times.
If it's possible, could there be a way for accounts that are list blocked for "mistagging" be released? I would love to make use of this new feature! But I can't even get anything to appear in the feed in the first place :')
I'd love an option to show ONLY trade listings on the front page, rather than just include them!
So essentially if it's on our front page, we know that OC is up for sale/trade.
