Feedback thread for the Front/Browse/Search page updates — the corresponding announcement and changelist is here!
🎯 Goals —
- Reduce congestion in the character trade listings and search pages that was previously caused by a bunch of ads/non-characters being submitted to the site
- Improve visibility on the top page for characters that are currently being pushed off by non-characters
- Make it easier to find what you’re looking for when searching for characters/codes/resources/services/etc
📋 Seeking feedback for —
- I wasn’t sure whether people would prefer having each character type separated out into a separate listing rather than everything just being types of character?
- I opted to just add an optional filter since this seems more flexible in terms of search and customization (people seem to just be creating everything as a “Character” profile currently anyway, and a lot of the features are going to be the same), but let me know if this doesn’t feel good, or if anyone has suggestions regarding how to better structure the listings.
- My original idea for the front page was to allow people to add an arbitrary number of blocks (eg. if you want to add a Popular Characters, Popular HTML/CSS, Popular Resources blocks separately), but the UI for the control panel started getting very long and confusing so I just scrapped the idea. I’ll probably be fiddling with this to see if there’s a way to do this that isn’t overwhelming for the average user.
- Character categories:
- These are currently “Character”, “HTML/CSS”, “Resource”, “Service/Ad” based on what we most commonly receive reports for, but this can be expanded or updated if we feel that this is missing anything or is too broad.
- General UI/UX feedback:
- If there’s anything confusing or if you have suggestions for how to improve any areas of the front/browse/search pages.
- Extra features:
- Are you someone who regularly uses the trade listings or front pages and feel like there are changes or extra features that could be added to make life easier for you?? Have ideas for how to help make the listings less frustrating and more accessible?? Let me know!!
- Performance issues:
- Is the site super laggy for you now??? If not site-wide, please do point out the specific pages that you’re having issues with.

the non charather thing might be annoying tbh sense if u transfer a charather thatslisted as a ad then its forever a ad
kally97 Not a mod, but you're still able to post characters for trade as normal; the new profile type is specifically for things like multi-character purges and commission listings. If you list a character as normal for trade through the trade listing feature, it doesn’t effect the profile type.
Hello! I would suggest adding an 'other' category for stuff such as Masterlist accounts (like this one!) , since so far none of the categories seem to work for what we do. Â It would also be super useful to have the option to convert profiles on the 'manage character' page!
glitterdogz typically you just have to ask the designer to change the perms on it, some aren't aware they have ot globally turned off for all their designs and it can happen without em knowing.
But I agree the option to request it directly from the character ownership tab would be an amazing new addition and make this process much easier and quicker to handle
I think it'd be good if there was either a category for fav2enter raffles or a way to turn those into characters. I think most people will stop using the ad section as soon as it becomes common knowledge you can't turn ads into characters, and fav2enter will flood the character section again. I think erasing the favs once it gets transferred could help, though also I fear that will still make most people put on character category because they don't want the favs to be wiped…
Uuh I don't really have much feedback, I just wanna say that I like this update A LOT. Never thought about this, since I don't mind seeing codes and ads in between characters, but man, it does make a difference. Everything has been working fine for me, mainly use th on pc or tablet, so I can't really say anything about bugs. Anyway, good update and great job!
This was addressed in one of my help tickets from earlier. To quote admin:
“I’ll note down the change in text colour, but we might want to keep the white text moving forward so we'll be leaving it on the list for now.”
So it’s an intentional difference. We’ll just have to wait and see which style they choose to go with!
Would it be possible to add a way to mass-switch profiles from character to noncharacter?
I have an entire folder full of HTML templates/resources and it's gonna be really annoying to change every code one-by-one <3
Frogcroaks Raffles qualify under Game/Contest in trade listings, people just mark them as freebies when they're clearly not... it's so frustrating >:(
