This was a conversation my friends and I were having earlier about our characters: everyone has certain character archetypes they're a sucker for-- or maybe ones that they can't help but keep making. What's your poison?
You can interpret this generally: maybe archetypes like "jerks with a heart of gold", personality traits like "smug", storylines like "friends who fall in love", whatever types of characters you love to see or create!
My characters:
a) idiots but they try
b) feelings are hard let's never talk about them
c) conflict resolution is hard let's never talk about it
Let's see:
- strong girls (whether physically or mentally strong, it doesn't matter)
- very energetic or upbeat characters who have a bit of a self-worth or self-hatred problem
- characters with poofy hair
- lesbians (or just LGBT+ characters in general, I don't think any of my characters are straight)
- short and unpredictable
- Yandere boys
- Creepy but cute men
- just creepy men
- sadist guys
- cute victim type girls
I have a very bad pattern but i wanna do romantic horror so ><
- Characters of immense skill or talent, struggling with impossible tasks laid upon them by circumstance or fate
- Characters close to the above characters, who are struggling with their own feelings of inadequacy on top of worrying about their loved ones
- Dark/monstrous/beastly/frightening characters, who actually aren't evil, but powerful, strong-willed, and protective
- Characters sharing a body, who work together despite their rough edges and differences
- Characters, often aro/ace-spec and/or poly, who have close bonds that don't fit neatly into society's classifications of and notions about relationships
- Soft, pretty men/masc folks and strong, deadly ladies/fem folks
- Nerds

-Girls Who Ignore Their Own Feelings for Others
-Radical Nonbinary Peeps
-Geeks of Many Flavors
-Childish Adults
-Kids with Jobs

- anti-social/stern, duty-bound bastards (sometimes with hearts of gold. they often do not have one however)

-Sharp contrasts in character duos of a jaded sarcastic one and a cheerful innocent one.
-Skinny trashy boys with foul mouths and awkward interpersonal relationships.
-Smart practical girls who herd the male characters around a bit.
-Found families and nakama.

- Total grump who hates the world, probably bullied as a kid

- Homeless kid who has the messiest hair and doesn't have any social skills
- Big tall gf with a gf who's also tall but gf 1 is like way taller anyways
- Joyful, cheerful character who loves the world
- Very tall, imposing character who actually has crippling anxiety
- Aliens??? Aliens. Also includes monsters and demons.
