This was a conversation my friends and I were having earlier about our characters: everyone has certain character archetypes they're a sucker for-- or maybe ones that they can't help but keep making. What's your poison?
You can interpret this generally: maybe archetypes like "jerks with a heart of gold", personality traits like "smug", storylines like "friends who fall in love", whatever types of characters you love to see or create!
My characters:
a) idiots but they try
b) feelings are hard let's never talk about them
c) conflict resolution is hard let's never talk about it
- Most of my characters have big eyes
- Almost all of my characters have a poof on their heads
- Most of them have the color blue on their color scheme
- The majority of my characters aren't even human/humanoid because I just suck at drawing humans
- Some characters are smol
-Poor tortured souls (level of optimism in their personality varies lol)
-Teens/smol (more boys than girls I dunno why lol)
-My characters just can't seem to not have big eyes
-About half of my characters are considered cute/adorable/cinnamon rolls
-Most of them don't seem to have blue jeans. Their pants are almost always ANY other color besides blue; for example, this one has purple pants and this one has black pants XD I know at least one of them has blue jeans lol
-Most of them are nice to other people, stubborn and brave because I love characters like that so yeah XD
-MAGIC
-Hoodies/jackets/cloaks for the hoomans/hoomanoids
-Every character is extraordinary in some way (having magic, having a physical trait that's unique such as a scar or mark, etc)
-Pale people
-Hair that reaches the neck/jawline and no further or shorter lol
-At least one absent/horrible parent in there somewhere
-You know, tragic backstories are my thing haha (or even backstories that aren't entirely tragic but have at least a little bit of tragedy)
-I've noticed that my newer characters are pretty short... I likey
-Tan Skin with Pale Hair
-Tan Skin in general
-Super nice + kin + sweet muscle men (who can cook, bonus)
-Glasses
-Cinnamon rolls, smol, and need to be protected and loved
- can't talk with people bc everyone's at least a bit socially awkward
- bottle up ur feelings that'll go well
- two characters have a tense relationship? meme it uppppp
- THEY'RE ALL GUYS
- copy/paste bowl cut ish thing and don't think about it
- nobody's happy (except for the one guy)
- old people? never heard of them (except for the one dead guy)
- EVERYONE HAS MAGIC WOOHOO (except for the one guy and the one girl and the okay only half of everyone has magic)
- Can't stick with woman due to past bad experiences, but somehow still winds up in a relationship with one?
- Characters which will fight each other over something incredibly dumb, like a penny or idk, a fruit. (Looking at you Ascarius and Pariah)
- Pretends to be cute, but is a god damn demon
- T R A U M A
- Would sell you out to satan for a corn chip
- Needs to be protected, but at the same time not because said character is technically incredibly powerful but doesn't use powers for obvious reasons
- Grabs fast food at 2:30am like it happens daily...which it does.
- B U F F characters with gr8 abs
(Not an archetype, but worth mentioning: Characters with fitting vines. I literally have an OC which is the "Dad is the good kush" "This is the dollar store, how good can it be?" vine)

-Extremely misunderstood bitches
-Gigantic dorks, either upfront or under only a few layers
-Anger issues
-Have a deep connection towards children????

ohh boy, finally- a chance to throw my trash character tropes out into the open
I think my favorite tropes have to beeeee
A) Mentor Figures
B) Dumb and Reckless
C) Shy Guy/Gal
and I absolutely love characters that are snarky af and know how to insult. Often my characters end up giving advice to other characters in roleplay, even if it's naive advice. They also tend to stick to their belief system and ideologies like super glue.
another trend I've noticed is dealing with negative feelings by hiding them ahahaha idk why that sounds like a maladaptive coping mechanism amirite or amirite
