I'm apparently the only person interested in my own characters. :/ Even way back when I had a few readers (years ago), nobody but me ever seemed attached to any character of mine. I don't know what it feels like for them to get such attention; maybe they're too niche, or I just suck at character creation.
@Judas-la-carotte's thread about underrated characters made me think about the opposite! I'm not going to use the word "overrated" because I certainly don't mean that any OCs deserve less love, but do you have any characters whom you're surprised get more attention than you expected they would, among your characters?
Maybe people pick them more often in forum games or art trades than other characters, they have more faves than you expected, or they're just the ones your friends have gravitated towards for whatever reason-- but maybe they aren't among your own favorites, or they're just not the OCs you expected would be popular.
And has that character's popularity inspired you to use or develop them more, or give them a bigger role in whatever story or project they may be in?

Either way, I’m wanting to gain a small following again so I can share things about my characters, talk about interests... We’ll see how that goes.
She just has more faves than expected, considering she’s not one of my mains or my deity characters.

its not really by much compared to others probably since im not that well known, but people apparently really like him (hes not my most faved, but hes my only character ive gotten random complimenting comments about, and its honestly just surprising to me) i get that hes a main antagonist so i guess thats part of his appeal but? idk i just didnt expect him to be as liked as he is, im glad he is though
Not on toyhouse, but on the server she kinda come to exist, Irie was so liked and I always was just ???? I do admit, she's cute as hell, but I never thought creating her that she will BE SO LIKED, AND ALSO BY THE PEOPLE THAT I FIND COOL iughdfiuh It was a huge shock to me. I'm also really thankful to everyone there for telling me how cute she is, because it really motivated me and gave me a boost + some confidence in my characters. Funnily enough, on toyhouse Yuzurin got more noticed than her, even if I never went out of my way to share anything of either of them (at least, I don't remember???) XDD And for the longest, Yuzu literally had no bio yet 4 cool fellas still gave her favs which is so cool!
That said, her being so liked didn't really change my view of her-- but I did feel a bit braver and really happy that I decided to add her to the story (she was first girl I added to my vampire world) since it was a good choice. I can kinda say that in recent days I put her more in the backs of my mind, because I'm concentrating on more main part of the story, in which she doesn't play much role. Though, thanks to everyone in that server, I didn't yeet her out the window or anything (i was kinda insecure about my characters back then, mostly girls) and once the time comes, she will get her spot to shine on.
Him and for the last 3 years I think. People just like Reece more than the other two of my main trio cus probably the edgy vibe reasons.. even his last design where I thought he was kinda boring from the other two?? But now I gave him more flamboyant personality and he's still wins people's hearts lmao. This is based from my socials, my followers just generally like Reece more, and Reece is the one that skyrocket my old Instagram account and got like 20k followers and eventually to 120k.
But in a way, he is actually my favorite too so uh- probably there's a reason why he has a bit more arts than the other two..
His last design was still boring tho.. but maybe is because I like the color pink and I just had the most mood to draw him more. BUT anyways that doesn't mean I don't love the other two. I love my main trio.. is just that Reece is more popular 😂
Francis gets more love than I EVER expected this greasy man to get. Blows my mind that he is liked even in the campaign he is in.
Kiwi! She doesn't have that many likes here on toyhouse but on Instagram I've had someone randomly draw her she's also got one of my most liked post on there (I think it was close to 100 when the most I get is 10) and during artfight I uploaded her on there she got the most attacks out of all my oc's

I never expected Xarxus to turn out the way he did, and I certainly never expected him to be so universally loved - I've yet to encounter someone who hates him, and the majority of folks I've shown him to love him. I never set out to make him likeable, it just happened that way.
This guy! I bought him off a friend ages ago and for shits and giggles when Art Fight was going on added him to my characters and he was drawn much more than i thought he was. He also has a bunch more likes than i thought he was going to have.
His popularity has not really inspired me to give him a much more detailed background. Im unsure of where i can place him in my weird world. But i still do love him.
