Characters more well-liked than you expected?

Speaking of fandom OCs, I'm including one who I didn't expect to be so loved, including by myself. Beepcheep was initially a silly challenge -- my thought process was "heck it, I'm gonna toss these three extremely different (randomly chosen) Pokemon species together and somehow make it a coherent design" -- but it worked so much better than I ever would have thought. Everyone who sees Beepcheep seems to love them, my housemate happily repeats their name whenever they come up, and so on. They are now one of my absolute favorite characters.

for 10 years, i worried people wouldn't pay attention to him or appreciate him because he's a regular human, no supernatural abilities, no cool outfit, really just like a guy i could find outside. but i actually think that is why people like him. he might even be a bit easier for people to draw and relate to. he has some unlockable backstory for readers who are particularly interested in him :)

Not on TH but he's so stupidly popular within my friendgroup at disc other sides (FB, IG, Amino, etc) I used to have a different account mascot but because of his stupid overbearing audience of simps, I had to change my main mascot from Ivy to Cyrus 💀 

Probably Shane, most people seem to hate country music and all that but Shane who is like 100% based on country songs seems to have a lot of people who like him.

This guy. He was literally just the definition of a bad character according to cringe culture. Bad color palette, super mean and evil, recklessly edgy, a literal murderer/terrorist- cocky about it too. Mysterious backstory. He was literally written to be so unlikable 

And so many of my friends love him 😭 

I've had people tell me he is their comfort character- like ACTUALLY HOW, but also very flattered 😭

I guess he counts? He was meant to be a shitpost custom but yet I see him getting the most art from freebies and comments than my other characters. And I'm glad too; for generally I do want him to receive more attention

shes not crazy popular or anything but 19 faves seems like a lot for a character i only drew a couple times, gave no development to, no tags and have never posted in any forums or anything. how did 19 people even find her in the first place

She was supposed to kiinda be a minor/background character and never expected her to be more so im quite surprised with the love she's gotten. Like sudden burst of fave (this could factor in going to the random explore page), getting most attacked on artfight, and then people telling me outright she's hot (lol) and want to marry her?! Im fluttered shfhjsjfh but she's definitely has grown on me too. Seems like her foxy charm leaked to the real world LOL

Idk if this counts, but during AF Reine and Rachel get more attacks than I expected. I can kinda get Rachel bc ooo plague doctor, but I'm surprised by Reine? Hes very sentimental to me bc I've had him for so long, but idk he's been like my most milquetoast OC ever   I do wanna try and develop him more but idk he's just a Genuinely Nice Guy that I struggle to really delve into him and add some more depth
