What's your preferred age range for OCs?

Pretty much what it says on the tin, as always! I was wondering about this since I see that many users seem to have a preferred age range, or sometimes an exclusive age range for their characters! What's yours? (I'm of course talking about physical/mental age here; keep that in mind if you mostly have immortal OCs)

Also, please stay nice in your replies! Having preferences is 100% okay, but don't insult people of a given age range (ie. "elderly people are ugly", "minors are boring"), whether you're referring to real life people or just characters. I want this thread to stay enjoyable to read for everyone, no matter their age or the type of characters they write.

10-50 because i cannot draw old people KJNASDKADS

but i prefer making ocs in the older teens/ mid to early 20s though because theyre more young and i can do more stuff with em

24-32 is what I usually go for, with occasional in 32-40 and 18-24. Usually, I don't like making minor characters, even though I am one myself. The lowest I usually go to is 17. Of course, this is situational, and mostly change based on their occupation, history etc.

Hmm I'd say 18 to 30 is my preferred range. I don't usually make characters that are older or younger unless they have to be that age for a certain role in my stories :p

TheReverendSerpent

the funny thing is my characters are sorted into three categories: 20s 100+ 1000+

truelexblue

teens to young adults bc i too, cannot draw older people lmao. probably around 16-28

also i don't feel well-equipped enough to be able to write kids n older people :0 as a 17 y/o i just write what i know, that age range is what i connect with the most

Thornheartless

In terms of physical age (since some of my OCs are immortal), my preferred age range for OCs is generally 18-27

I'm trying to get used to having some older characters since I've only really has ones 20 years old max lol

For my OCs I like to set the minimum age for them as 18 as when it comes to darker themes and the like I don't want to put those on characters who are minors

fleagrease

my characters are usually in their 40s, or in their 60s/70s. the youngest character i have is 26, and he is a vast outlier compared to the gaggle of old men in my tool belt... and they are definitely tools, lol

shoya_aaa

I usually make my OCs from age 8-20, but every year I will update their age

labratory

30-60! Take a gander 🤠

mmm the youngest i have i think is manslaughter, who is ten years old, and the oldest, who isn't on here unfortunately, is seventy-five, i think? i prefer to keep my characters in the 40-70 range, but sometimes i do make 20-30 yr olds. teenagers/children might be the rarest, and i think i only have maribelle and manslaughter on that front? at least when it comes to toyhouse. i tend to sort of forget about my kid ocs.

but, when i look at ocs and decide their ages, i ask a single question to myself.

what kind of obnoxious person are they?

Purnip

Mostly 20s to mid thirties. Basically around my age. I have a scant few here and there that are younger or older, but when I make characters for the purpose of RP I like to keep it where I'm comfortable. Most of my younger/older characters are for backgrounds or stories.

My maximum range (At least with OCs I actively still use) is between 18 and 50. Most of my characters' ages lie between early 20's to mid-thirties, depending. However, there are still a few outliers to this! Mainly my kid Carlton, since he's TECHNICALLY 15, going off of age on how long he's been built. I also have a couple character in their forties, but I don't typically go beyond that. That's mainly because I have issues thinking of plots that engage me for any characters older than that. There's a huge possibility that that may change in the future, but as of right now it just stifles my creative ability, at least as far as main characters go. Same with young children, they're okay as side characters but I have trouble thinking of engaging plots for them in a main point of view.
