What's your preferred age range for OCs?

Pretty much what it says on the tin, as always! I was wondering about this since I see that many users seem to have a preferred age range, or sometimes an exclusive age range for their characters! What's yours? (I'm of course talking about physical/mental age here; keep that in mind if you mostly have immortal OCs)

Also, please stay nice in your replies! Having preferences is 100% okay, but don't insult people of a given age range (ie. "elderly people are ugly", "minors are boring"), whether you're referring to real life people or just characters. I want this thread to stay enjoyable to read for everyone, no matter their age or the type of characters they write.

Most my characters aged with me and are around my age.

When I made my first OCs when I was eleven, they were 11-16ish. They got aged up with me until I settled their ages.

I'm nearly thirty so all mine are around 20-35.

Only ones older are ancient characters spanning thousands of years old haha.

And anything below 18 makes me uncomfortable so all chars are over that age.

My age range looks like 15 (Pudgy) - 500 years old (Zurie, immortal)

I'm 23, so the majority of my OCs are in their 20's, or slightly under (18 and up) You'll notice that it's actually a major jump. I think my second oldest character is....like 26? And Zurie is only the oldest because she's an immortal and gave her that kind of age. I have a character who's age is like ???? since she's also an immortal, but physically, she's about 18 - 20.

In the past, the age range was all 10 - 17 because I was a teenager and related to that age range, but now, most of the OCs who I made that age have "grown up" with me LOL

I like to stick between 30-50. I like writing mature marriages and more nuanced issues over young love stories or adventurous stuff, if that makes sense. I prefer for my characters to have more established wisdom I guess

Anything above 17-18, honestly.

I'm not really comfortable writing children characters, so late teens to young adults are sort of my go-to ages, around my own age. Otherwise, I also really enjoy characters who are 40+.

8aroque

15-25 because I like writing characters that feel a bit more developed than a child, but at the same time I enjoy making my characters act immature for either entertainment or drama and I'd rather not have it come from someone 30+ because it gives me bad memories.

i generally prefer characters from like 25 to 40 (aside from my elves, but they don't really count haha - relatively speaking they're in that young adult to adult range). i usually prefer to write people closer to my own age range because it's easier to write something I currently have a head for. i also tend to prefer adult characters of drinking age so that I can write about them getting up to the sorts of antics you might expect from adults of drinking age - self indulgent perhaps, but i enjoy it, so... i do it! :p

i have a couple characters outside these ranges of course - my oldest is in her 90s and my youngest is 15 - but the majority fall into that comfort zone, and they tend to get the most attention haha...

17 - 27

more my age range + i understand them the most!

manyface

most of my ocs are in their 20s!

Lily-The-Rockstar

for age ranges, I tend to prefer characters in their 30s. most of my characters are between their early 30s to mid 30s. although there are some exceptions were my characters are in their late 20s, mid 40s, or in some rare cases between the ages of 8-12
