blood, gold, and iceThe
Trespasser is a pirate ship with a long history and great notoriety; she is gigantic, relentless, and crewed by people too wild and mages too frightening to find acceptance on the mainland. Captained by a capricious necromancer from the icy southern archipelago of Ivras, the
Trespasser crew is known for their ferocity and unmatched magical prowess.
Trespasser makes port at the criminal harbor of
Ryddid Isle , and hunts for prizes in the waters south and east of Ivras. A ship of
Trespasser's monstrous size is always seeking more monstrous people to sail it.
Though the Trespasser is known for being home to freaky-lookin mages, everyone is welcome to join, mage and non-mage alike : )))history of the Trespasser
- About fifty years ago, the gargantuan battleship was under Nymenian command, though the ship itself was likely stolen, as it didn't appear of Nymenian construction. Vidar, along with a crew of Stalhúð Clan raiders, commandeered the vessel. Vidar took command of it, and renamed it Trespasser. Though the Stalhúð had previously been raiding locally for supplies to support their clan, Vidar took Trespasser out to open waters for larger prizes.
- For decades after, Trespasser terrorized the the waters surrounding Ivras. They accumulated crew members both at port and from the ships they attacked, often recruiting mages or prisoners from conquered vessels. Vidar became known for enticing interesting-seeming strangers into her employ, to build her ship's reputation as a crew of monsters.
- About five years ago, the Trespasser was hired by the captain of the Clinkscales, another (much faster, much smaller, equally deadly) pirate ship, on a long voyage to a supposedly priceless stash of treasure in a distant sea. While the ship did reach its destination and find riches, fallout between the two captains resulted in Trespasser leaving earlier than expected, sailing out into a storm in enemy waters.
- About four years ago, after some tempestuous months heading back to Ivras, Vidar recklessly commanded her unprepared ship into a fight they couldn't win. Trespasser sank, and nearly every crew member capable of drowning was lost.
- In the present day, Vidar has returned to the site of Trespasser's shipwreck, and used her magic to make its skeleton walk back out of the waves. As the massive ship is slowly being rebuilt, Vidar is searching Ivras for a new crew, promising a life of riches and adventure at sea.
the ship
A huge and lumbering tallship, Trespasser is like a floating fortress. She is slow and unstoppable, cutting waves with ease but without much maneuverability; what she lacks in dexterity she makes up for in firepower. Bristling with cannons and able to hold a veritable militia, Trespasser overcomes her opponents with relentlessness and force rather than speed, and each hunt is a long pursuit that ends in a spectacular, often one-sided, battle.
Trespasser is an old but well-preserved ship, the wood aged to extraordinary darkness (especially given her recent stint at the bottom of the sea). She is devoid of any ornamentation or decoration, but easily recognized by the canvas of her sails, which have been treated with waterproof solutions that have stained them a bold, streaky red.
The crew
Though non-mages (and anyone unfit for society and capable of swinging a sword) are welcome aboard
Trespasser, the ship is known for carrying mages that others would find terrifying. The
Trespasser's power comes from its mythology, and its crew full of monsters.
The original
Trespasser crew were tight-knit and fiercely loyal to a captain who steered them into disaster. Most of them were lost in the Trespasser's last battle, and the crew is being reformed almost from scratch.
If you're interested, you are more than welcome to create members of the old crew or the new! When fully crewed, the number of (mostly NPC, obviously) crew members aboard Trespasser nears 300.
