RULE UPDATE [8/3/2022]

Once again, pretty self-explanatory thread. Your character tells the next character a secret about themselves, they respond, and so the cycle continues with them.

RULES AND GUIDELINES:

  • Keep NSFW to a minimum -- suggestions, implications, and innuendos are generally fine, but keep in mind that minors have access to this thread.
    • Romantic interactions are allowed, but only between adult characters.
    • Sensitive or gory interactions are also allowed, but must be put under a spoiler or blacked out.
  • Remember to post IC! The IC button is on top of the field where you write your post, just switch it on and select the character you wish to use.
  • There is a five sentence minimum in your response to the character above!
    • As a general suggestion, not quite a rule, however, please try to match half the post of the person you are responding to.
  • You may only post every three posts or three days after the last post, not three days after your own.
    • Example: [You] [x] [x] [x] [You] or You [x] [x] [three days pass] [You]
  • You may post a "claim" to avoid getting sniped, but please do not take too long on it!
    • You will be pinged here with a reminder after twelve hours of an unfinished claim. After twenty-four hours of an unfinished claim, you can be skipped by the next person.
  • You must prove that you have read the post that you have responded to. Your post must contain elements of the post above and/or the above character's information.
  • Be kind to your fellow players, but know that in-character views are not their own out-of-character. Just because their character's rude to yours doesn't mean they themselves feel that way!
    • Do not skip over users who have you blocked or who you have blocked. Wait for someone else to respond to them before posting.
  • I supervise this thread as much as I can, but if you spot problems, please either DM or ping me.

Nathaniel Clement fizzelston

Nathaniel's only moveable ear pricked. He smiled while scratching his beard all thoughtfully. "Oh that dóes sound juicy," he said mimicking her way of talking a bit teasingly. " And that does sound like a steal aye,"Nathaniel let out a small whistle while overthinking the things Reyl had just said. If drachts were like Tanden, this could be an interesting deal to say at least.   He seemed to be chewing on the thought, or chewing tobacco who knows, while tapping his coat. He halted his hands, with an almost innocent smile. "seems like I left my wallet at home, maybe next time get the money before spilling the goods kiddo."

--
"Secrets, secrets I have so many," Nathaniel mused. He stared pass you through a small boat window, at the sea. He shrugged. "But you're not here to hear me ol' sea tales I suppose. They are quite interesting though, if I do say so myself. Fought a seaserpent once." He laughs  at your expression. "Very slippery! Right, the real deal. I've heard they are hauling in some good stuff, in port right now. Opium, porcelain, ivory even.  The citywatch doesn't know about it, the mayor doesn't know it either but.. There are rumors that along that haul contains diamonds. Small, pieces of diamonds. Shimmering," he smiled at the thought of holding such a pressures material. "And só well guarded."

Kiushhu EggSalt

"That's an interesting rumor to know," Kiushhu cocked their eyebrow at Nathaniel, though behind their mask it was impossible to see, "How very lucky for them."

They watched his movements carefully, "I assume your goal is not to steal, now is it?"

With a snicker, they turned their back to the man, giving a light huff, "I suppose that one isn't my business, now is it? ..."

The warrior wasn't exactly comfortable with the idea, but as long as no one got hurt...What were they to do about such?

---

Kiushhu stiffened, a secret? A secret. No, they would not give away anyone else's secrets that they had gathered, that was no one's business but theirs. However, an old guilt tugged at the uberhero's heart. Something they long since tried to hide or forget about under their facade of valiance.

"Before...I became who I am today...I was a cocky coward," Their voice dropped lower, sadness teeming at their words, "...I was apart of a small group then. And when danger truly struck us, I left."

They gripped the side of their mask tightly, humming in thought, " I left and I did not look back."

"Now. Things are different now," Kiushhu sighed, "But who was I to leave those that truly needed me? I shan't ever make that mistake again."

--

(follow up. OOOF. Strike 'em where it hurts Flavio)

Kiushhu flinched slightly, a sting in their heart when the man tore into them for their foolish nature in the past. Though, they did not object. There was no need to when the words were right, this was a guilt they needed to carry for their whole life. A reminder to never act as such in the past. The uberhero's heart panged in determination, offering up only one objection to the ire they had gotten.

"I am no fool," They half whispered, "Through my mistake, I have gained compassion and strength to never let a soul go without first attempting to aid them. I have gained my powers and plan to use them well."

They glanced to the stump of their arm, "And through that, I will die for anyone in need if I have to."

Vapor

Flavio never ran. He found such to be only a coward's feat. So, what did that mean for Kiushhu? He stared down at the uberhero, his expression blank for the most part, though his lip with curled into something resembling a frown, but somehow not quite. He settled in his seat, his silence deadly.

When he did speak, he did so coldly. "You already know that what you did was spineless, gutless." He told them, "And you deserve to feel shame for abandoning those who needed you. A real soldier would never..." He then leaned in closer to them, gazing upon their mask, still scowling. "You should hope that you never make that mistake again. You should hope you are no longer the weakling as you proved yourself to be in the past. The people love you because they look to you to protect them. That sort of trust should never be betrayed."

With a scoff, Flavio leaned away. He hoisted himself up from his seat, and with a dip of his head, he grumbled out, "I don't want to think of you as a fool." he commented, "But, you have a lot on your shoulders."

Flavio combed his fingers through his beard as he studied the other party. What secrets did he have? Plenty, surely, but who was to know certain ones wouldn't be used against him? Certain little things he considered. His headaches, his wife, his nephew's friend... But, he eventually decided on something simple, something innocent.

"I like sorbet. Eating sorbet." He told them.

...That was it?

"To enjoy such things, however, I find it would be soft. Men such as myself should enjoy bitter vegetables and bloody meats, and while I do like those things as well, nothing is as wonderful as sorbet. It's so difficult to make, I know, but alas..." His eyebrows furrowed. "..My favorite is lemon."

Leika Van der Khansen fizzelston

Leika started to laugh delighted. Her ears pricked and her smile toothy and haunting. "Sorbets!" She repeated. "And do you just, shove spoons full in your mouth, biting the ice. Or do you do the lucky thing with your tongue?" She asked. Leika leaned over the table, her eyes almost glowing with mischievous. "Lemon? That's a weak-ass flavor. You should try vanilla once or chocolate, those are where the good stuff is at mister manliness!"

--

"A secret hu!?" Leika mused. Clearly drunk, or at least influenced by alcohol. "Right I've got one! Two even, maybe three but for now let's keep at one shall we!" Leika shoved her pint of beer aside. Draped herself over the bar as she rolled in your direction. "I sold someone some rotting potatoes once, like an non-Easterling, someone who doesn't have the stomach like we do,  " she said. Petting her belly. " The chap barfed as soon as he opened the bag, " she started to laugh. Loudly.

OH NO BBY

Ethan Wilhelm PicklePantry

Ethan stiffened and gave her a bewildered look. "That was you?" he gasped before sinking in his seat. "Ugh. I still remember that smell. I haven't eaten anything with potatoes ever since," he grumbled. What did she mean when she was talking about her stomach? Like... Like she would... eat-?
Ethan lurched forward in his seat, grabbing his mouth. Not again-! He rushed off for the closest restroom.

"Eugh, I have way too many embarrassing secrets," Ethan groaned, a hand going down his face. "Like... one time I fell asleep while on the bus, and ended up at that bus center that's their last stop. I managed to get an uber, but her gps was acting up, because we ended up in a WAY different city! I finally managed to get home, but I told everyone I had just stayed the night at a friend's. I don't think I could handle it if I told them the truth." His entire face was a deep shade of red, it even looked like there was steam coming out of his ears!

Teer Taeya

"Aww sounds like a nasty chain of misfortune, huh?" Teer smiles friendly and talks in a carefree voice. "Don't worry, I'm sure there was a reason for that to happen. Like, for example if you'd gotten of at your bus stop maybe a dangerous person would've captured you and torture you in the most gruesome ways and you'd die a horrible... Slow... Painful death..." His facial expression gradually became more and more blank while his voice became more serious.
Swiftly changing back to his playful expression he proclaimed: "So chin up! It's nothing to be embarassed about!"

"Hmm... That's hard." He crossed his arms and adverted his gaze. "People seem to think I have a lot of secrects, since they don't know much about me. But they just never ask me about stuff... But I guess there is one thing I don't want most people to know!"
He looked back to the person he was talking to, with a sombre expression. "When I was younger, my crush died because of me. I'm sure I could've saved her somehow, but I messed up. It's how I learned that all I can do is hurt the people I love..."
He paused for a long time. "Well it sucks but sometimes that's just how things are!" Teer once again grinned contently, as if to hide how vulnerable he just was.

 Asher polyfragment

"Wow, hey, slow down-" Asher stopped mid-sentence as he heard Alec further explain what happened, and looked at him wide-eyed once he finished. "Oh my god. That's terrifying. Hey, I'm sure you were in shock, right?" he replied, doing his best to sound somewhat comforting. "You were scared. So, like, you did- or well... you didn't say anything because of that, right? That's a big thing to deal with. And hey, you can try to say something now, if you wanted to, I think? I'm not really sure how reporting that stuff works, but I'm sure they get that kind of stuff where someone is too freaked out to report things?" he tried his best to rationalize Alec's decision. He did feel bad for the guy. "I... Hope you can work that stuff out with yourself. That's a scary situation to be in. Try not to be too hard on yourself." he finished, giving him a pat on the shoulder.

-----

"Secrets, huh? I'm usually open about everything, I think." Asher said to the other with a grin. "Okay, well, I mean... There's some things, but... Hey, you have to keep people guessing sometimes! Have at least some sort of air of mystery?" he continued on, trying to stall. Finally, he sighed. "Okay, alright. I'll tell you. So... Back at my old place. I had this friend, right? He was super nice to me, more than anyone else, at least. He was cool. We hung out together. And I had this thing to do. I didn't want to do it. So... I ran away. Just left. And my friend there... I miss him a lot." he explained, then growing quiet for a moment. "...I think I was in love with him. Which is... just kinda weird for me, y'know? I'm not supposed to..." he paused. "Ahem. Yeah. I don't know. There you have it. My first love. First crush. Last crush? Yeah. That's it. That's done. Try not to go blabbing about it, huh?"

🌸 Willow 🌸 Wrong-Q-Etude

“Secrets?! Tell me! Tell me!” Willow demanded in a brattish manner as she clambered onto Asher’s lap without asking him. Behind her mask her eyes were twinkling, secrets were always fun! They were perfect ammunition when you weren’t feeling energized enough to kill someone.

“I have a friend too! He’s deaf and has this cute little doggie.” She rambled, her attention waning slightly before it was snapped back to what he was saying. Nodding her hand in understanding she pulled back her mask to look him in the eyes narrowing them.

“Love? Like in the fairytales?” Willow questioned with a tilt of her head, doe eyes once more going wide as she stared up at him, “To bad you couldn’t have been his prince charming, then you really would’ve been like from a fairytale!”

“I won’t, not that I really have anyone to blab too!” She chirped before hopping off his lap, “Bye weirdo! Have a nice day! Don’t go dying anytime soon, I wanna be the one to kill ya!” And with that, she was off.

*Under spoiler due to very sensitive topics of child murder*

Willow kicked her feet back and forth as she sat on the park bench. The person that sat next to her had just sorta appeared at some point, she hadn’t noticed when, but they were there. She wasn’t feeling like her normal self today, she felt wrong.

Maybe because today was the anniversary of her death. The day that she died, after having spent such a long time being tortured. Just the thought alone made her feel ill and enraged. She hated them, SHE HATED THEM

“I miss my mommy.”

Willow finally spoke, her voice quiet and small. Despite the air of death that hung over them both she was just but a little girl in the end. Having been taken from her family much too soon.

“I got a secret…” She muttered as she pulled her knees up to her chest as she looked at the other party through the side of her mask.

“I’m dead. Well, sorta?” Willow began as she let out a sigh and curled in on herself just a little bit more.

“I was murdered a while ago, I was so scared…” A little whimper, “I never got to say goodbye to my mommy. I never got to tell her I loved her one last time.”

“It isn’t that amazing of a secret, but a lot of people don’t know it.” Willow stated before looking up at the playground watching the kids scream and play.

She wished she could be that innocent once more.

Salvador Wapenburg fizzelston

"I know how you feel, " he said. His voice soft and careful, warm even. A small smile crept on Salvador"s face while leaning a bit in Willow's direction. "I've got also a secret, " he whispered. Softly as if only the two of them were allowed to know. "I'm deceased too, " Salvador said. He smiled, leaned back, and let his gaze also switch to the playground. "I'm sorry about ya mum, " he told the child. "Bet she loved you, and there are others..out there, waiting to love you, " he said. Salvador stood up and offered his hand to the small Willow. "The real you, not this mask you hide behind."

--

Salvador lay in the grass. The freshly cut grass itched the back of his arms and head. "A secret hu?" He asked you, finally snapping his gaze away from the cloud formations above him. "I don't have secrets, ' he bluntly said. Then he wrinkles his nose as blood flushed to his cheeks. His gaze directly shot back at the clouds as he let out a defeated whistle. " right. Maybe one... I called the teacher, when I was little, dad once. Like 'Pah!'." Salvador laughed quickly. "And everyone heard it!" He was never felt so embarrassed.

ISFJ Irvinol

Christina places her hand on Salvador's shoulder. The angle was a bit awkward considering her was lying and she was sitting, but she nonetheless hoped to comfort him.

"I understand that. When I was young, I would slip up all the time. Teachers were parents, doctors were parents, social workers were parents, everyone seemed to be 'mom' or 'dad' to me a few decades ago. Don't worry about it," Christina said with a smile.

Christina braced herself, hugging her own body.

"I- I once had a crush on another girl in high school. She was so beautiful...I-" Her face turned red.

Flustered, Christina blurted, "BUT I SWEAR I'M STRAIGHT NOW!!!"

Her internal strife only drilled deeper into her stomach, as a war raged in her mind. She doubted her own words.

19 ControlCoreAngel

“It’s alright to have crushes like that,” 19 assures. “Perfectly normal, and it’s okay to change your identity later on! Sometimes you just realize that it’s changed, and that happens. Explore! Have fun with it. It’s alright.”

-

“Truth is...” 19 begins, tempted to hide herself in one of her wings out of sheer embarrassment. “I’m a little frustrated at my partner, Bangs, right now. I don’t want to say she caused our friend to lose her memories, but she kinda did, and then made it worse on me by talking to Serge like that...”

She shakes her head.

“I’ve been keeping it secret because I really don’t know what to do about it or tell her.”

inaphyr

"That's erm... that's rough, buddy." Sibling coughed, unsure of what to say or do to comfort the other. It would be a pretty... unfavorable decision if any of their friends had lost their memories because of the foolish decision of another, unknowingly or not. This was the situation 19 was stuck in, and bottling the topic up didn't seem to be helping her, especially when it didn't seem like she had anyone else to talk to about the matter.

"Maybe you should talk to Bangs about it though. It's better than bottling it up," They continued to hesitate, "And maybe telling Bangs about what happened, and what they did, would help. They would at least be knowledgeable about it, and maybe even find a way to reverse the damage they've done. Even if it turns out to be unfavorable, It's better than keeping it hidden away forever. The longer it is kept out in the open, the worse the situation will become." In all honesty they had never really given advice to someone, since they were either constantly on the run or busy keeping their family in check that they couldn't tend to anyone else. So they sure as hell hoped that this would be beneficial in some shape or form to her.

In the background, Sister audibly scoffs at 19's predicament, and rudely of course.

"Easy. Just kill Bangs. That's what you do to idiots, eh?" She grinned manically, as if she hadn't just suggested murder like it was something that you could just do on a whim. Yea, not like it was totally illegal, and if it was legal, totally not immoral. Of course, this was Sister though- someone who had next to no morals, and certainly didn't care about the destruction she caused if it didn't hurt her or her family. Best not to take advice from her.

From Brother, there was static silence in response to 19's confession. He surely couldn't find the words to help her, and if he had, it would've been the same as what Sibling said. So he stayed silent, just observing and making the every now and then private comment to Sister and Sibling.

"Ignore Sister," Twitching their ear, they offered 19 and kind smile, "And just tend to it as best as you can. Only you know as much, and therefore know the best course of action. May you be guided in your next decision."

"Well, I've got no secrets, really. I'm sure Brother and Sister have their fair share of them, but they're not mine to share.." Pausing, they tried to think of a sort of secret they could put on the platter. They were sure that if they had any secrets, they wouldn't exactly be interesting- so the only thing they could share was the fact that they shared one body with two others, of whom they considered their family.

So, planning to tell that, they smiled nervously and just gestured to the empty air behind them, "...I've uh... I'm sharing my body with my family. Every now and then, we change whoever pilots it and sometimes It's by force. We're only like this because we're on the run, and only on the run because of their decisions. Not to blame them, or anything." Producing an anxious laugh, they pretended to be as nonchalant about the situation as one could be.

"Really? You just go an' fuckin' tell 'em that we're fuckin' fugitives? What if they turn us in?" Bristled Sister, baring her teeth as if she were a wild animal. (At this point, Brother and Sibling weren't able to tell the difference between the two.) Of course she was a bit on edge about Sibling just spewing this information out to a random person, but it was Brother who gently nudged her and brought more logic to the situation, Sibling, and whoever was with them, left to listen.

"Meh, not like we can't run away. We've already done this many times beforehand... and, well, they don't exactly look like someone who would come from where we do. And even if they were, we'd immediately be able to tell. Those pricks all act the same, pompous and such." Brother couldn't help but snicker at how quick Sister was to jump to conclusions, sort of... floating and leaning on Sibling as Sister did her best to calm down. She was always suspicious, so it was hard to not suspect that... whoever they were talking to would turn them in.

"...yeah, I don't think you would... turn us in, would you?" Sibling hoped, twiddling their fingers as they tucked random strands of hair behind their pointy ears.

Mr. TV PicklePantry

Mr. TV scratched the side of his head even if he couldn't feel it. Brother and Sister...? This kid was unique the minute they met, he couldn't tell whether to be unnerved or amused. He perked when they mentioned sharing a body with two others. "Huh? Oh..." Oh, this was deep, wasn't it? Subjects like these were ones Mr. TV was always cautious about, not because he disliked them but because it was VERY hard to appeal to viewers.
But... maybe this was good, actually...? Yeah... Yeah!
"Alright, I got it!" he spouted, lightly dropping his fist onto the palm of his hand. "I won't turn you in, kid-- or, uh, I won't turn you all in. But in exchange, why don't you let me make a documentary about you, huh? I won't air it until you're in the clear, or I could put a filter over to hide your face, whichever works. But I think you've got something, kid. I think you'd not only interest people but be educational. You've got the right stuff! 'Course, you can always refuse. Can't say I'll look the other way from your running then, though."

"A secret, huh? What's this for, some kinda magazine article?" Mr. TV chuckled. "Okay, you want to know something about me? This TV head is real." He knocked on the screen a few times as if it were proof. "I don't know how I eat or see or hear, but I do. Feels like having a normal head. I can even sleep, but I have to sleep sitting up or it's hell on the back." He knocked on his chest, though it didn't make any unique sounds. "As far as I can tell, my body's normal, but doesn't need food or rest as nearly as much as it used to. I can pretty much go on for days straight without getting too tired, which is a dream, let me tell ya."
He was pretty loose with the information, but was pretty confident that even though this was the truth, it sounded so outlandish that people would assume he's joking.
