Smith thumbed the handle of the teacup currently perched in her fingers before leaning towards the older woman and chirping, "Oh, it's an honor for you to be here, you know! It might sound a bit of an odd compliment, given that I'm an aristocrat, but... I do mean it, mm?" She delicately lifted a hand to her lips and giggled, her voice escaping from the gaps in between her fingers before she leaned back in her satin seat and took a sip of her tea.
The tea in question tasted sweet, much like the conversation and mood at hand. Hell, maybe a bit too sweet, but...
"It's always nice meeting new people anyhow," she explained further with a soft smile, "especially those with similar tastes. You did mention that you, uh, liked ballet... Yes?" With a raised brow, the young aristocrat set the cup down on the table before gently folding her hands together and leaning in just ever so slightly towards her guest. "We don't have ballets around here," the young woman confessed, "but we do have musicals. Do you like musicals? You seem like the type of person to quite enjoy the performance arts..." She trailed off, considering reaching out for her teacup once more to sip from, but... She didn't go for it. Not now, at least.
Instead, Smith opted to muse aloud, "But... That asides, I heard from a little bird that you have a son, right? A shy individual, rather opposite of you in terms of demeanor...", while rubbing her chin. Uh oh? A soft smile nonetheless remained on her visage while she turned her hands' attention to her hair - her soft brown hair, apparently. As she combed her fingers through them, she hummed, "It's rather sweet, really. I've always heard that the one between a mother and her child is one of the strongest bonds that one can have... Yes? I can only hope that it's the case between you and your son..."
It was getting painfully obvious that she was starting to project.
"But that asides!" the young woman exclaimed after picking up the teacup once more, "I can't help but ask... Have you ever tried finding a 'father figure' for him? Not his biological father necessarily, or even a stepfather, though. I mean... A male figure that can serve as a pillar of support for him. Not that I don't trust you by any means - I actually see you as rather competent - but..." But what? Smith's smile faltered for a second, though it was barely visible thanks to the fact that she had lifted her teacup to her lips at around the same time.
"... I think if you want him to open up a bit," an increasingly antsy Smith muttered after a few seconds of silence, "then you should provide him with the people who can help him out in that regard... Yes?" She sniffed and wiped a hand across her face. "... He's just a child, after all. He should be allowed to explore and learn new things- With you by his side, of course." Smith cocked her head and fluttered her lashes. "You know... Kind of like mothers are supposed to do..."
SMITH FUCKING DIES INSIDE???? late follow-up time.
With a shy laugh, Smith clapped her hands together and chirped, "Oh, of course! It's a pleasure to see you again!" And she did mean it! A genuinely sunny side was upon her face as she allowed her latest guest to settle in- Not that they weren't a repeat occurrence by any means, of course.
"Please, do come inside!" the aristocrat continued to hum with a nod, "There's not much occurring at the moment, so an impromptu tea party will do no harm- Nor can it do any harm, for that matter!" And as if she was genuinely attempting to be funny, Smith started to chime with laughter, even fluttering her lashes to accentuate the effect. "I'd much rather have tea than anything else at the moment anyhow-" She broke off with a laugh. "But yes, come inside! Come inside!"
And with that, she carefully beckoned the magician into her abode, where nothing but opulence greeted both parties. Smith, of course, seemed blissfully oblivious to the fact - though the exact reason why this was the case was... Ambiguous.
That, of course, didn't matter.
Smith prattled on and on about the usual until the topic of family came up. The topic itself wasn't too foreign by any means. She could blab about her "lovely husband" and "baby son" for hours, if not days, on end! One might as well have a tolerance of kevlar if they wanted to hear her babble without losing their shit, but she meant no harm with her mindless chatter. Genuinely.
It still got pretty awkward when she started to talk about her husband, though...
"He has a convention coming up, but I reckon that he'll do well in it!" the young aristocrat chirped while holding up a teacup to her lips. She fluttered her lashes, her smile reaching her ears as she continued to chirp along. "I mean-" Then the other interjected that he wanted to ask a question, and Smith shut up. Now quiet, the young woman nodded and took a sip from her cup...
And almost spit out the damn tea when the question was revealed.
"I... Uhhh..." she started before letting out a gulp, "What do you mean by that?" Poor Smith.
With a frown, the aristocrat mumbled, "Well... He's a bit rough around the edges, but that's sort of expected for men like him if you ask me... He's much softer than he seems. He just... Has to be rather rough in order to prevent people from exploiting him, or... Something along those lines." Nonetheless, it was clear that Smith's lines were parroted - or at least recited - as she attempted to smile once again. "... It's not because of that magical component of yourself, or at least I hope not. I'd probably talk to him if that were the case..." Like that would turn out well.
Luckily, the conversation stopped being awkward as soon as the topic shifted from Johnson criticism to Johnson praise. Not that the bitchy aristocrat deserved it by any means, but it's fiiiiiiine.
A slight sparkle now appearing in her eyes, Smith sighed dreamily, "Oh, he's quite the intelligent person. Tough as well... I do like looking at his hair every so often too, if that's not... Weird by any means. I just think he's an interesting fellow. I like being with him too. I feel... Complete with him, if that makes sense..." She paused to rub the back of her neck. "... And... I think he'll come around eventually as well. He has his struggles, but that's normal. People struggle all the time, and I think it'll help him... Mm?"
