Listen to the song from the user above you!

Posted 7 years, 1 month ago (Edited 6 years, 5 months ago) by Aikaikaik

Heya! Figured I'd start up a thread like this as I abolsutely love finding various music, and noticed there isn't a thread for this here yet! Plus, thinking on it, a good few of my OCs are inspired by some songs and music in general, and it never hurts to be on the hunt for more music to check out!

Basic Rules:

1. The person above you will link you a song to listen to!

2. Give your thoughts on it - is it something you liked, or is it just not your cup of tea? Did it inspire you to make an OC on the fly? Feel free to express this as much or as little as you want! (Please be respectful and civil in your reply, though.)

3. In the same post, link a song for the next person to listen to!

[edit] 4. If you're next in line, please claim before going ahead; I totally missed out due to IRL things going on, I realize some people might of been Ninja'd! So let's try to avoid being ninja'd from now on <:"D

EDIT; PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Heya! I've gotten a few concerns from people that go through this thread that some may of been a bit disrespectful about one's tastes in music. Music is something it's obvious not everyone is going to like the same thing, but I must remind you to PLEASE, be respectful to the person above you when having shared music. If it isn't your thing, please be kind and simply say "It wasn't my cup of tea, sorry. I'm glad you like it though!" or something nice along those lines. Having someone be told the song you chose (which might even mean a lot to you on your own terms and reasons behind it) is horrible or nasty, can be a bit rude. Let's do our best to keep polite and civil here while we all jam out to some awesome tunes! Thanks!

All good? Let's get started! I'll link over a song for the first person to start things off!

First song: The Maddest Kind of Love, by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy

BewareOfTheMenace

This is a very cool song! The orchestra sounds like one of those Indiana Jones scores but with dialogue! I enjoy it!

Live music is always fun, and though I would love to hear a version of this without the echo in a professional recording booth, there's something so fun about hearing it in this way, listening to the reactions of the people listening is infectious, it's hard not to feel the same enthusiasm. They do a great job each playing and matching each other instrumentally speaking. Their harmonies are great too and fits the sort of feel that I'd imagine a song called Angel Band would be called.

NP: Comet by YOASOBI, I really love this song and the music video, but due to the content of the music video, I put a lyric version. If you want to watch the music video here, I'm slapping both a big fat content warning for some intense visuals and themes of self harm and suicide AND Spoilers for season two of Beastars. I've only included the English versions here, but I do really love the original japanese versions of the songs, YOASOBI just happened to sing in english too.

Im not very good when it comes to explaining music but I really like Down The River! I've heard some of the songs from the crane wives and over all really like their 'sound' something about them just hits right and I love how the two sound singing together :)

A few song options

Sleeping At Last - "Two" (Official Lyric Video) (youtube.com)

JUST LOOK MY WAY (Stolas' Lament) - Helluva Boss [PARANOID DJ] - Cover by Caleb Hyles (youtube.com)

The Moon Will Sing (youtube.com)

i honestly love this song! not the type of music i would seek out myself, but its a nice song in general! calming, something i would sleep to (in the most positive way!) the instrumentals are so nice and the vocalist's voice is just the right amount of gruffness. overall, an amazing song! added to my playlist :]

np: How Long - Paula Toledo (this song just got found from a lostwave search!)

BewareOfTheMenace

Okay this is such a jam! Her voice reminds me of Mandy Moore or Vanessa Carlton which are two of my fav artists! The sliding guitar combined with the acoustic guitar along with the soothing vibes around it, it's so lovely to listen. I'm pretty surprised how such a nice song like this become lost only to be found again, this should have like 1 Million views at least. I gotta listen to more alternative acoustic music again.

Okay, let's make it more interesting. Now most people will post their favorite songs in this thread to see what's their opinion on it and whatnot but here, I am going to post my songs so you can listen to it and tell me if you like it or not. I have three songs on Newgrounds. Take a pick

Bid Ding (goofy indie hip-hop)

Another Night (jazzy chill hip-hop)

Mellow Jam (boppy upbeat electro)

Listened to all of them but man! Im in love with Crooked Tree, I love the comparison of being different to a crooked tree and all the meaning behind it. That refusal to change to be yourself and "free" rather than the straight tree that would be cut down and put in the mill to fit into society like the world wants. The overall more energetic vibe makes it easy to enjoy and listen to while when you truly listen you get a song with so much meaning behind it that many people can relate to.

Just some stuff I really enjoy:

JVKE - this is what autumn feels like x this is what winter feels like (transition)

if Viva La Vida was sad (HENRY MOODIE X LORYN HANSEN)

BewareOfTheMenace

I've heard of JVKE before, but never heard of his music before so I'll give it a try.

this is what autumn feels like

BRO THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST ANGELIC SONG EVER. The violins, the piano arpeggios, and the vocal, its sound so melancholically smooth and it feels like one of those dramedy romance movie from the 2000s! The lyrics feels so sad though, like it's about a lover leaving him like a leaf falling from the tree, very metaphorical.

this is what winter feels like

Okay this is even more cooler than before, pun intended. The lyrics is pretty good to listen, especially the whole cold winter metaphor about feeling cold and lonely after his lover left him stuff. The kick drum mixed with the rapping, the phaser, and every about this mashup is so perfect to hear. To be honest, I gotta listen to his music more after this but maybe later or next time.

NP; I'm currently working on a fighting game project called Fight-O-Rama and here's a unofficial soundtrack playlist of my game.

V Oh um, and it's not like a real fighting game tho. More like a story project. But yeah have fun listening.

i feel like this production feels homemade, the beginning part would be great for old arcade game, the song itself sounds decent, i think it's unique, although it's not much relatable to me
