This 'cultural exchange' mission sent him to this lady, whom K-550 wasn't even sure what nationality and culture she came from. After all, even within his own country, Russia is vast enough that with a over a hundred different groups of people, he certainly couldn't say he knew what considered signature dishes of the Buryats or the Lezgins in southern Dagestan. The task he had been put on was to...eat the dish she cooked. That didn't sound like a much difficult instruction, did it? Knowing a few groups of people in Eastern Siberia cook dishes in rather simple appearance, he wasn't going to judge what was placed in front of him.
"I'm truly grateful for your kindness to cook something for me, thank you very much," he carefully dug his spoon among the glop and guided it to his oral cavity. And instantly his system was flood with data, alerting how dangerous the food was. Keeping his face straight, the second Borey examined the information sent from tiny sensors located within his oral cavity; enough capsicum to burn human's mouth in one bite? By five bites, this dish could successfully kill humans, even one without allergy to capsicum. By now he internally started making a guess that his host was likely from the nations famous for spicy food...maybe Mexico? Thailand? Hungary?? But here he was put to the task to enjoy the meal from this lady. He was not here to give opinion to her food. And he was definitely going to complete the task and not offending this lady who provided him a meal.
The second bite gave a whole new sensation to him; something was wiggling on his tongue. The android with light brown hair blocked out the information alert before it even reached him, chewed and swallowed dutifully. He didn't need to know what it was. The alarm concerning the raising level of capsicum also returned, and he blocked it, too. These warnings here were all nuisance; he wasn't on the duty to taste food for humans whether it was safe to eat so he didn't have to pay intention to what his sensors told him. They could bring all capsicum in the world at him and he doubted it could compete with the heat of nuclear reactor.
Ignoring the rest of data flooding from his inner system, he practically cleaned off the dish. Task assigned to consume the meal for the cultural exchange mission and not to disappoint his host - completed. Just then his gray eyes detected a glass of wine and hesitated for a few seconds. Alcoholic beverages were something frowned upon and were often advised for androids not to consume, unless for some rare occasion when they were required to join in social gathering with ordinary humans. The state just wanted to maintain the 'clean' impression of androids, even though in reality alcohol didn't affect their systems the same way it could cloud human's logical judgement. Expecting that the 'main task' was entirely passed, K-550 reached for the elegant glass while his inorganic brain worked on elaborating a speech to thank his host again.
...But then as he downed the wine, the capsicum alert popped back on, much to his surprised.
It was time to wrap up the mission and Sashka went on a business mode, not mentioning a thing about the food's taste since his host surely hadn't asked for an opinion. "Thank you so much for providing me a new experience. It's highly valuable to me. If it's not a bother, could you please kindly inform me where could I get that wine you've served me? Such wine could become a popular alternative choice of alcoholic beverage to be consumed among the human personnel in the Kamchatka base I belong to..."
"My deepest apologies for taking you away from the town. However, civilians are simply not allowed into Vilyuchinsk. Trying to get you in will pose more troubles than good." The place where he took his guest to was a log cabin homestay which recently sprouted up to cater the growing number of foreign tourists in the remote eastern peninsula. The view from out of the window showed a snow blanketed landscape of -20C winter in Kamchatka. The android excused himself to the recreational ground of the homestay, just within sight from a window of the lounge area. With snow and ice covered every square inch of the ground outside, one might not aware there was a pond out there until K-550 took out an ice auger to drill a hole on the frozen water surface. The menu he had in mind required fish as an ingredient, the fresher the better...
Around fifteen minutes went by before he caught a poor fish that would become the meal. Was it...a perch? Ridiculously, the 6'1 figure then sprinted back indoor as if to immediately escape from the cold, although he hardly displayed any discomfort during the fifteen minutes fishing session. He then got into the mission to cook and without missing a beat, slapped the unfortunate live fish on the counter and cut it up straight away before transferring the pieces of perch in a pot and added water from a tap. After setting the pot on the stove, he then got himself busy with chopping a few vegetables for the next part once the soup's broth finished boiling.
However, his plan wasn't enough for just one dish. After adding celery, carrot and potatoes in the fish-based broth, the warfare android who took the cooking task a bit too serious then started the preparation of the second dish. After all, there was no telling how familiar his guest was to Russian food. Thus he decided to make another dish which had its origin from outside of Russia. Another pot with water was set on the next spot of the stove, a cup of macaroni was poured into it. He then began chopping a onion, threw the onion and ground beef in a pan before focused intensely on frying them. In a flurry of activities, the macaroni was rinsed and added to the simmering pan and seasoned with salted and pepper, attention was diverted to the fish soup, more fresh herbs were added after the soup went into a bowl and closely followed by the macaroni into a pristine white dish.
"Perch-based Ukha and Al dente Makarony Po-Flotski," he sat both dishes on the table. They didn't look like they could cause food poisoning despite being cook by an artificial intelligence, "I apologize of any blunder. Being a warfare android, cooking is certainly not my strong point. I'm sure these are perfectly edible...although the flavor may not be up to your taste."
