🎶 Imagine a title for the theme of the OC above

Posted 6 years, 3 months ago (Edited 5 years, 4 months ago) by fuelli

What would be the title of the music theme of the OC above you, if they had a custom one in a video game or a series?

  • It is heavily recommended to read the OC's bio a bit before coming up with a title. Using more than 2 words per title is also preferred when possible.
  • Titles in other languages than English, (preferably when justified, and grammatically correct), are authorised. Just be sure to include a translation!
  • You can also add a quick description of what the theme would sound like in addition to the title, but it's not obligatory. The main goal is just to come up with fake titles.

Be nice and have fun!

Idle: Divine Temple

Soft flute sounds, perhaps a little tribal sounding but not at all aggressive. Some soft drums in there somewhere behind a gentle violin

Fight: Death's Doorstep

Probably something similar to the introduction of Iron by Woodkid, lots of intense brass and drums

Idle: Simple, Small Things

I feel like this would be akin to a starting town theme from an RPG! A slow, sleepy-sounding song that’s got a lot of guitar, some harmonica... and maybe a hint of lute? ✨

Battle: A Sunlit Path

This song is less “sleepy” than the previous, but I still think it could have a slow tempo (though faster than the idle theme)? Slow battle themes are underrated. There’s a background instrument that’s much quicker paced, and the song itself probably replaces the guitar and harmonica with something more orchestral, but it still has sort of a light sound to it; no big heavy drumbeats here.

TAFFY NYAHILISM

Idle: Without Falter
A slow, easygoing tune, mainly in strings and piano, backed by a steady drum beat. It's hard to notice at first, but as time goes on, it gets slowly louder- until the strings overshadow it, and both fade back into the background. Fans of the source consider it to be one of the best songs on the soundtrack to work to, especially if it's something tedious that needs to get done.

Battle: On and Again
A secret boss theme and something few players ever get to hear during a playthrough, On and Again takes the melody of Without Falter and turns a calm, methodical song into something that incites panic in even the most hardened player. It's frantic and violent, almost like the musical equivalent of a cornered animal, in stark contrast to Petrel's almost mechanical idle animation. The chorus of Without Falter is a more common element in On and Again than it was in even its source, both as a whole and broken down into pieces- like a skipping record. It plays itself on loop, and it's almost impossible to tell where the song starts and ends.

Idle: Chop Shop

A bit slow, but has a swing to it. Probably has a tuba in there somewhere in the background. Sounds like your typical shop music in a rpg of sorts, so it's not meant to be over powering and distract you from the goods.

Battle: The Butcher of Artisan

I'm thinking it starts of simple, a few notes that give the illusion that the fight won't be hard that. Then it hit's you with a quick symphony of utter chaos. Think of how most of Nero's Day at Disneyland's music sounds. Maybe the bass could alien with when Taffy lands their attacks?

Ivan 12halos

Idle: City Lights

Kind of a calm, slow, but futuristic sounding song. Definitely has some synths and maybe a good drum going on. Feels like something that would play during a drive home in a bright neon city at night.

Battle: Fleeting Youth

Mainly slow, heavy guitar, with a bass and synth overlayed in the background. Occasionally you can hear some of the melody as City Lights, for that thematic callback, and to add emotion.

 Morgan hydrangeas

idle- an apple a day...

umm,,, maybe something that sounds mostly droning, and kind of... ominous in a way, but with some chirps of higher notes so that it sounds very unusual and eerie... probably a very quiet piano song, made more of ambient sounds than chords!

battle- aconite

this is the name of the wolfsbane! famously, its a poison, but it has been documented as a medicinal plant as well... i want some heavy half-diminished seventh chords for that bona fide funeral feel, and make that piano into a pipe organ... dramatic as fuck and feels oppressive as hell

hydrangeas

(bump)

Syra sinthcircle

IdleLone City Breaker

A quieter, more low-pitched tune with a retro-ish, bitcrushed sound to it. Notes are slow, simple but atmospheric. Sounds like the type of slow, sharp sounding kind of ambient song that would play in tense moments

Battle: Challenge! Heart of Bronze

Intro has a similar feel to idle theme, slow steady, then goes straight into a more complex and fast-paced song! It still has that lower retro-ish sound to it, & while it isn't going too fast, it still has that quicker, urgent tone. Sounds like a DS-era boss theme, specifically an early-game boss, that kinda vibe

Idle: The Rolling Waves

A soft, pleasant song. Fits right in with relaxing by the beach. Has gentle strums of a guitar and a violin, excellent rhythm and piano, and is quite catchy too

Battle: A Volcanoes Fury

Heavy, loud, and strong. Loud drums accompanied by bass guitar and is completely instrumental. The intro has a loud *boom*, that kind of sounds like an erupting volcano, before leading into the meat of the song. Has the feel of an important battle, but not the first or last time you'll fight them

I love them, thank you!!!!

Idle: A Blossom in the Wind

I could envision this being a very peaceful, melodic piece, likely in a major key! Like the sort of thing you'd expect in a sort of nature-y sanctuary of sorts. It would probably utilize harp/flute, maybe a choir singing in some places as well? I think it would be cool if the language of the choir shifts at different points in the song, sort of to reflect Kyna's own switching of languages while speaking. There would be very little percussion, and what there is would likely be from forest ambiance. It would be a pleasant listen, but maybe hint at something stronger? Sort of as a tease of Kyna's ability to become abrasive, alongside her combat abilities, which many may find unexpected.

Battle: Petals Scatter

This would build off of her idle theme, though in a more energetic way, likely in a (mainly) minor key! It would sort of capture the mood of an unlikely enemy, like a foe who is much stronger than they originally appear. It would be very orchestral with a wider range of instruments at play, alongside more percussion, though I feel that the harp/flute would still take center stage. The choir would also return, likely with a more... Well, not necessarily "aggressive" approach, but something capturing that sort of mood. It would feature motifs from her idle theme, and possibly feature a quieter/slower "cool-down" section where the harp/flute/choir melody come to center stage. Maybe it could capture an unwillingness to battle? Or perhaps a moment of second-guessing? But then it would build into the strongest, most "epic" part of the theme, to show Kyna's passion once more. Very cool.

(Okay, but no joke, these were so fun to come up with?? I can visualize (Audi-ize?? Idk,,) what they would sound like, and I LOVE that.)

For NP: Just for some inspiration, I find instruments like the marimba and saxophone to really fit Tox's vibe! So if you think they'd incorporate well into a visualization of the theme, then that's cool! They also have a thing for bossa nova and avant-pop, so like... Do with that what you will hehe.

Idle: Three of Wands

I'm thinking of something that starts off soft but builds up to a more mysterious tone. It starts with a flute and after a while the music is joined by a piano and the two instruments blend together, maybe add some bell sounds too as the tune gets faster. Near the end it gets a little bit more playful as the piano dies down and only the flute and the bells remain and then loops, returning to the more calming tone of the beginning.

Battle: The Crown's Defender

VIOLINS, so many violins, a mix of drums and piano sounds mixing together, I'm thinking of a very tense song that gets progressively more loud maybe even with a choir singing when the song hits its peak. After a while you notice that you can hear a couple of notes from Three of Wands but it's hard to listen to them as the drums drowns them out, while it sounds aggressive, it's never chaotic, the instruments feel organized and purposeful, it quiets down slightly as it loops with only one violin playing near the end.
