I could see Shea and Ryn hitting it off? They’ve both kinda uprooted themselves and thrown themselves into a new physical space & social world w/ new opportunities relatively-recently, and both seem eager/desperate to make this chance count, so they've got that in common right off the bat.
They’d probably quickly recognize each other as kindred spirits in a few ways, and I think they’d like each other quickly. This may or may not be a good thing? They could either bring out the worst or best in each other— they could be bad influences; they’re both very restless & reckless & both have some real issues with authority and histories of getting themselves in trouble. At the same time, I don’t think either of them want to waste their new opportunities, so maybe they could sorta help each other keep out of the same kinda trouble…? Still, some level of mischief is virtually guaranteed I think haha
Seeing he has quite a bit in common with Shea might make Ryn lower his emotional defences like 5% more than normal. Having someone he can relate to a bit more is something Ryn craves too, but that doesn’t mean getting anything genuine out of him will be easy. They both have a similar “me vs the world!!” sort of attitude going, and if they manage to foster enough solidarity there I could see them being deeply loyal friends, with time….. if they could learn to trust each other. If not, they can stick to just. stirring trouble :'^)
I’m not sure of Shea’s orientation or their precise age so I’m gonna be tentative about suggesting anything more romantic/sexual—Ryn’s in his early 20’s, Shea is university age so I assume they’re slightly younger?? But, supposing they're vaguely compatible & that the difference isn’t like. uncomfortable, it’s not…. impossible to imagine them having some kind of physical thing too, if Shea's into that (ryn obviously is :/). Maybe as a “totally one-off thing” that ends up totally not being one off. Not sure how romantic we’d get but Ryn would freak out & start ghosting if he ever found himself catching feels. It’d take probably more effort than it’s worth, on Shea’s behalf, so avoiding this in the first place is probably for the better :’p

also, good luck getting Ryn to comprehend hockey in any way shape or form. But he'll be happy to come to some of Shea's games if Shea promises to come to some of Ryn's gigs :')
