General Thread for PSAs

Posted 8 years, 1 month ago (Edited 5 years, 7 months ago) by Vespisia

Hello!

8/9: New PSA added.

5/14: 2 new PSAs added.

4/8: New PSA posted and additional information on Squidribs added to relevant PSA.

It was suggested that there should perhaps be a general thread for PSAs which is a fine idea. A place that links to other PSAs and keep things organized.
You can link your threads/PSAs/etc, and I'll add them to the posts. :D
Please Note: I can only accept public PSAs. Anon PSAs are too much of a risk to accept, as they can be open to slander.

Things That Count for PSAs!
-Scams
-Illegally chargebacked (you did a commission, but person claims you never did, for instance)
-Being shifty on doing owed things (taking months on an icon for example, lack of contact or updates, etc)
-Tracing and profiting off of it...
-Etc...

Things That Don't Count!
-Someone has better art than you
-Rude behavior
-Subjective issues
-Dog ate your homework

Obviously, this is just the basic frame work. Each case is different. For instance, someone could go around harassing artists for art and customs, or for people to give up their adopts and whatnot, and that could almost certainly be considered for a PSA...

Of course, it would be great if no more PSAs occur, but in the case they do, I support people posting them because they keep the community safe and will link to them in this general thread. owo/

There'll be two posts, one for PSAs and one for resolved cases! ^^

Good evening, before asking the question of making a PSA, I think that other avenues are to be explored.
1) You don't specify it, but did they draw one of his own arts or that of another person?
2) If we start with the second scenario, do the two people know each other and did the artist have the right to pump like that? (you never know, some people are unfortunately too nice)
3) Are you the only one who received traced art by them?
4) Have you contacted the artist to see if they are ready to delete the image on his side?

In any case, although I understand his approach (to save time on free arts because anyway, these drawings are supposed to have no value), I do not endorse it. Tracing remains a form of cheating and it's quite disgusting to do it, whether for the artist victim of the tracing or for the person who receives it.

But if you are indeed the only person to have had an art drawn, I don't know if going as far as a PSA is really necessary, if necessary put it in your personal blacklist while remaining open to giving the reason. The artfight is starting to date, so nothing prevents you from checking a bit his more recent works to see if they continued after the event and if so, yes, a PSA will, in my opinion, be necessary.

1. they essentially stole another persons art. everything is copied such as colors, lighting and shadow placement, clothes, background, etc. the only thing thats changed is the head because its my character instead.

2. theres no indication that they do know eachother and even if they did itd be against the rules of artfight since all art you upload as attacks has to be fully yours and needs to be made after the current artfight event has started so since the original art is from november of last year itd break the rules anyways.

3. i sadly dont know which is why i wanted to make a psa or some sort of post calling for help to see if anything else is stolen.

4. i have contacted them but i havent gotten a response yet.

i agree that tracing overall sucks but on artfight you also get points and the chance to have your art featured so there couldve been the possibility of that. i know most people dont care about points but they still got comepensation for work that isnt theirs in some way.

I see. For once, yes, creating a PSA to launch a possible investigation may be a good idea.
At least wait to have a response from the person (watch when he connects too, to know if he deliberately avoids you or not) and if he beats around the bush or avoids you religiously.... I think you you won't have the choice to display it.

Hello,
I've purchased an adopt from the user code_ink yesterday and today, their account has been closed. I am worried the adopt I bought from them may have been stolen. This is the adopt in question: https://toyhou.se/18352219.shrine-maiden

. If anyone could help, that would be amazing

Niles running the image through tineye and google images this way and flipped found nothing. Would you be comfortable DMing me an unwatermarked file? I'm not sure if the watermark could be messing things up or not. But if you're not comfortable with that, that's understandable. Just know what I've tried yielded no results. Maybe someone more prolific with this sort of thing could bring different answers.

has anyone here had any issues with RowBee/krobus ?

i’ve been waiting on art since april; It gave me an excuse and asked for a different character to draw in July, which i provided, and have been ghosted ever since. It’s commissions are currently open and it’s hosting a raffle right now, which just makes me think more people are going to be led to get scammed.

Uhh not sure if this is allowed here.. but noticed a newly created Deviantart account trying to sell a Vtuber model. The vtuber they stole from is her. Just saw it as i was scrolling deviantart. They deleted my sister's comment calling them out for it.

if i remember correctly, there was a massive thread of people reporting dA impersonators who reached out to auction bidders saying the winner backed out and requesting payment but i can’t seem to find it anymore? has this been deleted? someone on an account impersonating shiohh @ dA just noted me and i wanted to put it out there 🥲
