General Thread for PSAs

Posted 8 years, 15 days ago (Edited 5 years, 6 months ago) by Vespisia

Hello!

8/9: New PSA added.

5/14: 2 new PSAs added.

4/8: New PSA posted and additional information on Squidribs added to relevant PSA.

It was suggested that there should perhaps be a general thread for PSAs which is a fine idea. A place that links to other PSAs and keep things organized.
You can link your threads/PSAs/etc, and I'll add them to the posts. :D
Please Note: I can only accept public PSAs. Anon PSAs are too much of a risk to accept, as they can be open to slander.

Things That Count for PSAs!
-Scams
-Illegally chargebacked (you did a commission, but person claims you never did, for instance)
-Being shifty on doing owed things (taking months on an icon for example, lack of contact or updates, etc)
-Tracing and profiting off of it...
-Etc...

Things That Don't Count!
-Someone has better art than you
-Rude behavior
-Subjective issues
-Dog ate your homework

Obviously, this is just the basic frame work. Each case is different. For instance, someone could go around harassing artists for art and customs, or for people to give up their adopts and whatnot, and that could almost certainly be considered for a PSA...

Of course, it would be great if no more PSAs occur, but in the case they do, I support people posting them because they keep the community safe and will link to them in this general thread. owo/

There'll be two posts, one for PSAs and one for resolved cases! ^^

You don't really have any right to tell them not to use the art, unfortunately.

If it was received through a trade, and both of you completed your sides, that's work for work. That would be like an artist saying "Hey I know you paid for this commission but you can't use it anymore."

I'm sorry for any experience you had with them, but at least from MY perspective, they still have every right to use that art.

ApostleBanana I know it isn't the same as the art being removed, but at the very least, I believe you can remove yourself as the credit on the images? So that the drawings so longer link back to your account.

Unfortunately you cant access an image if youve been blocked, even if you drew it.  I def think that should be changed but thats just me.

ApostleBanana I have a similar situation (me not wanting a very old cringe drawing) but I cannot force them to delete it.

What I can tell you can do, is ask them to change the creator credits to "??" Or anything else that doesn't link back to you, I don't know if you can change it yourself.. I know you can change it on creator credits but idk if that works on images as well

666MEAT It does work on images! If you go to the art that's credited to you (assuming you can still see it and the character/art isn't set to private/protected) and click the little check mark on the art thumbnail's bottom right corner, you can edit who the credit goes to.

January yeah i went to check that out earlier and it works ! ^^

CosmicJellie  Hands down you should set a timeline.  I would let them know that if you don't see your art within a certain time that they need to send back the points or you'll be reporting them to staff for scamming and encouraging others to do the same.  Waiting this long is ridiculous with nothing on their end.

I'd like to note some good news! The individual I was having difficulty getting a hold of for so long finally got back to me a few days ago, and delivered some of the artwork. That is certainly some promising news, so I'll keep an eye out for the rest of it.

So update on my situation.

I messaged the artist five days ago. No response. I've looked at their DA and they've posted several pieces they've done in the time since I've ordered my art. Most recent having been posted last week. They don't have any journals up talking about any absences and they have been on at least two days ago. I'm debating on noting them on DA because at this point it feels like I'd be more likely to reach them.

While they are not submitting art daily, they've posted several pieces that are equal to or greater than my com in complexity. Several of which being other commissions. You'd think that I'd've gotten some sort of update on my art. Maybe I'm just kinda salty. I've at least messaged someone who has ordered art from them to ask if the wait time is normally this long. Because I'm at my wit's end.

Turns out they had not in fact given me a completion date, I was just misremembering. But they did tell me that they were going to push the art back.

I'm gathering screenshots for this in case I need to make any sort of warning on them.

Edit: They finally responded with za WIP. I was less than impressed with the quality and progress and asked to cancel.
