General summary of what's going on here

Hey we made this thing! This is a creative endevour made by three big nerds that started as a way to make some cash in the adoptable design trend boom back in 2011. In the interest of expanding on that concept, we've since fallen down a rabbit hole of creativity and community. To put it in simple terms, we're designing and selling pokemon/neopet creatures, and DMing a creative freeform RPG with tabletop roleplay elements where we sell the character sheets and come up with the world setting. It is a blast and a half, and at least two of us are so lucky to call this crazy project our full-time jobs. So thank you to all our community and supporters <3 You guys are what makes this project so fun.

Definitions

★What to heck is a Stardragon?

An adoptable closed species created by Deletethestars, Raptorslut, and Cloneclone. ‘StarDragon’ is the broad term, and there are 8 different sub types of StarDragons, each with their own names, traits, and cultures:

StarEaters, StarDashers, StarSweepers, StarShooters, StarRobbers, StarCrafters, StarFishers, and StarWeavers.

They are a magical, fantasy humanoid race characterized by brilliant colorful gemstones affixed to their bodies. For more information on each, please visit our info and trait pages!

★What are adoptables?

Adoptables are character designs created for the purpose of being sold, gifted, or traded. Adoptables are particularly great for people who want original characters but perhaps are not too skilled at drawing. They're also a fun way for artists and character designers to get creative an make a bit of cash.

★What do people do with adoptables?

Anything you want! You can use them as characters for roleplay, you can draw them, have others draw them, make stories for them, go wild! Some people buy adoptables because they love the artist, or the species, or the colors. Some people use the designs as visual guides for their novels and short stories. Some use them as online avatars or personas to help get a unique look online. Some just collect them because they look pretty and make them happy.

★What is a closed species?

Closed species are adoptable original species concepts that are protected by copyright and are not free to copy or create. Basically an adoptable that you, yourself cannot make unless you buy them from the original creators, or from someone who is selling an adopt they bought from the original creator. Similarly, an Open Species is a species concept that the creator has indicated as being free to create your own. All Stardragon flora and fauna species concepts are open species, feel free to make your own character of these species. (Note: whenever submitting a flora/fauna species concept to the group you are agreeing to these terms.)

★What is a MYO?

MYO stands for Make Your Own. You buy a MYO slot from the original creators, generally far cheaper than batch adopts or customs, and you can completely make your own within the rarity trait limits.

★What are design batches?

A 'batch' refers to a collection of designs, either on base or off base, that are released for sale all at the same time, compiled into one image submission, like a catalog.

★What are design auctions? What do SB and AB mean?

Basically as the context clues say. An auction for a design. Someone bids for the design, and you can bid above them. Some common abbreviations seen in auctions are:

SB: Starting Bid

CB: Current Bid

AB: Autobuy

★What's a Gemexchange?

The Gem Exchange is the name we've given the Stardragon community group! We wanted to do something different with our closed species, so on top of crafting lore and providing free resources, we've worked hard to make a safe and welcoming community for everyone.

The Gem Exchange has hub pages on Discord, Furaffinity, Toyhouse, and Deviantart. (Listed from most to least active, respectively.)

★Do I need a Stardragon to join this group?

You’re free to join our ToyHouse, FurAffinity, and Discord channel even if you don’t have a StarDragon! However, you’d need a StarDragon if you wanted to participate in roleplays.

★How do I get one of these fancy critters?

Buying from the batches Raptorslut and Deletethestars post, buying a custom when Raptorslut or Deletethestars opens, buying/trading a StarDragon off someone who is selling/trading away a StarDragon they bought from Raptorslut or Deletethestars. Additionally, sometimes the GemExchange has freebie raffles and the winner gets a StarDragon. Lately, there’s also the once a year MYO event where you can get a StarDragon!

★How did Stardragons come to be?

Once upon a time, Deletethestars made StarEaters as just a closed species adoptable. As years past, Deletethestars made StarSweepers, then StarShooters, and then Cloneclone and Raptorslut made their own StarDragons to go along with it… and then began working on the lore. So much lore…

★Speaking of, do I HAVE to follow the StarDragon lore?

NO! The lore is ONLY there for those who WANT the lore, or want to pick out the ideas they like. You are NOT restricted to using the lore. The ONLY things you need to abide by are the eyes/gems need to match in color, and of course stick to the rarity charts.

★Why are these designs so expensive???

We are professionals m8. The StarDragons are Deletethestars and Raptorslut’s only source of income. There’s bills, rent, food, necessities, student loans, insurance, medical situations, and much more they need to pay for. If they could give StarDragons for free, they would- but unfortunately this is still a business, and thus… the prices remain. Sometimes discounts and freebies are made though, so keep your eyes peeled.
