A Not Date

Sliding the books and journal back into his carrier bag, Diem felt his blood run chill for a moment when he recognized the voice that he had mostly just heard giving no's and denials from afar. Aaaaah hell. Ears laying back against his head, even his posture gave away that he knew he was caught, tail tucked and curled slightly around one leg. "Uuh.. Nothing really, you just happen to always get confessed to in my favorite reading spot." While he couldn't deny that the incubus was that nice, tall, and light colored type of person he was attracted to, that didn't mean he thought he knew enough about them to act on it. He was happy with admiring from a distance.

"Don't go lumping me in with them. I'm not double anything." His own dragons were too big already to be carried around in his clothes, but Diem did know a few people like Ryou that could bring theirs around with them like that. It wasn't too surprising to him to see the little feathered noodle poking their head out. "Anyway, I've gotta go get started on dinner or I won't find everything until after dark. So if you'll excuse me." Bowing his head slightly, his ears stayed back in that embarrassed way still as he tried to move around the other to sweet freedom.

As the very embarrassed and red faced male tried to scoot away, Ryou stuck his arm out to block the door. His face rather blank of emotion, just looking over Diem as he got more in the way of the door and moved closer. With the other backing up it was perfect really, his small dragon quickly wiggling her way out of his jacket to go close the door so they could have that privacy he did like to have when it came to confronting people or being confronted with embarrassing subjects.

“I see, just waaaatching from afar, not acting suspicious at all when you dive out of sight like an embarrassed school girl. I doubt you could even do much better Diem, at least they are speaking their minds and all.” He did want to see if pressed would the male would spill more, while also revealing he too knew him.

He didn’t know him well, often catching sight of him slinking off to take some extra food off when the main part of classes was done and it was time to train dragons that the school kept for such purposes, but he caught his name from teachers who’d tell him had to be more involved with the schooling process. Not that he could blame the male, it was pretty boring work of repetition. Already a master blacksmith he was debating his second set of classes while others still struggled with their first.

Alright, maybe he was acting a little suspicious, but he wasn't out to hurt Ryou or something. It was just an innocent crush that he didn't expect to get anything out of. Especially not this sort of private conversation as the other dragon wiggled free and closed the door. Hmm... he was athletic enough.. he could probably jump far enough out of the window for a safe landing even if they were on the second story.

A sprained ankle was not on his list of things to do today though. The slight distraction came when Ryou challenged him about not being able to do better than those derps that pushed their desires rather than feelings onto the other. "Of course I could!" he huffed, that sleek tail of his fluffing out and flicking in annoyance at being so wrongfully judged. In his opinion. He did have his pride after all as a properly raised noble, even if he wasn't actually one. "Even if they're speaking their minds, what's the point if their minds are just filled with sex!" Crossing his arms as that twitching tail continued, he had lost sight of his embarrassment at being caught for the moment, "If it were me, I'd invite you out to watch a movie first, get dinner, maybe go window shopping, y'know," he waved his hand in the air as an ect. ect. gesture, "something more romantic than starting off with, 'My parents won't be home for the weekend' he quoted a past invitation.

Really though, he didn't understand what was going through their minds. The young cat shifter was raised to keep himself in line though and old school etiquette. So it was no wonder his thought process started with courtship rather than dickship.

Flicking his tail back and forth as he waited to see what Diem’s next move would be, he couldn’t help but smile as he got offended by such an accusation! How dare he say he couldn’t do better, and if words alone could prove that then Diem was so far the clear winner in the wooing department. A winner by a long shot as he gave some examples of what he’d do and not do, even giving a very good example of what not to say to someone he was charming that was used on him and failed so hard. It was a little charming though.

Not able to keep up his more tough act, Ryou brought his hand to his mouth to laugh a bit at the less embarrassed cat boy, his sweeter side suddenly exposed to the male he didn’t know well. He was dark in color aside from his eyes, and a bit of a rebel, but Ryou found both of those traits to be something he enjoyed and minded them not.

“You aren’t wrong, but they are giving it a try to say the least. They don’t have suave or charm, but they have persistence.”

“Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeyou, the reeeeeeeps.” His small bird noodle reminded him, wrapping around his horn to pat as his face until he waved his hand a little so she’d stop.

“Alright, alriiiiiight. Stop patting me.” Letting her slither her way into his sleeves and make herself comfortable before he sighed, he motioned for Diem to come along. “Come on, I’ll buy you some dinner once I’m done. Take it as an apology for coming on too strong at first, how does that sound?”

Glancing towards the bit of laughter, Diem tilted his head slightly at the sound. He had to admit, with the only time he would see the blue haired boy being when they were turning someone down, it wasn't a sight he had ever seen. Part of him was under the impression that they might even be someone he should avoid with how they trapped him in the room; half expecting a fight he would very much run away from, not wanting to hit a pretty face.

The fluffy tail soothing back down to sway more calmly behind him, the young cat at least felt a little better being told he was more charming than the persistent kids his age. Ryou simply didn't know he could be persistent too! That was all it was.

Finally in a more relaxed position, but still keep that five foot distance between them, Diem flicked his ears at the ree-ing dragon. It was.. super adorable and he wanted to pat it too even as her rider waved her away. "Hmph, I guess that sounds fine. I'll forgive you if it tastes good." He was a picky eater after all. Though he wasn't about to mention that he should probably be the one apologizing instead as he headed off without a second thought that he had just been swindled into a date.
